Chapter 78 Talent

Regina's damp nightgown was discarded on the floor by Douglas.

She was left with only her form-fitting underwear as a cover.

The water in the tub had cooled slightly, but Regina felt like she was burning up all over.

Despite the white, frothy bubbles obscuring their bodies, the proximity made it impossible not to feel the changes in each other's physical state.

His erection against her softness was palpable.

"Remember what I promised you last time?" Douglas asked.

"Last time?" Regina echoed, confused.

Douglas' tone was casual, but he was clearly reminding her, "That night you walked into my bathroom and saw those things."

Regina's memory clicked. That awkward morning conversation in the dining room came flooding back.

"If you're worried, you can help me next time. With your help, it would be much better."

"I'm not good at it. I might make you uncomfortable."

"It's okay. I can teach you. Practice makes perfect."

She thought, 'So, this is what he mean by his promise?'

Regina was completely at a loss. Her heart was racing, and she could distinctly feel Douglas' astonishing size, almost in disbelief and frozen in place.

Douglas smiled, seeing her stiffness.

Much later, Douglas carried Regina out of the bathroom. She lay on the bed, wrapped in a soft blanket. The bathwater had long gone cold, but they were so caught up they didn't notice until Regina started sneezing.

Thinking back to the last time Regina had been bedridden with a fever, Douglas couldn''t help but frown as he looked at her pale face on the bed.

But as soon as he frowned, Regina misinterpreted it.

"I'm sorry," she blurted out, realizing how poorly she had performed.

Douglas paused, then realized why she apologized when he saw her blush. "It's okay. You have a natural talent. You'll get it after a few more tries."

Regina thought, 'Talent? What talent? I was clumsy and inexperienced. He didn't enjoy it at all.'

His praise made her feel even more embarrassed. After a moment of intense internal struggle, her eyelids drooped, her energy spent.

Sure enough, Regina ran a fever in the middle of the night. Douglas called the family doctor, looking worried. It was his fault.

The next day, neither went to work. Regina didn't know how long she slept. When she woke, it was dark outside. She saw Douglas by the window, on the phone.

"Why is Regina sick again?" Charles asked, concerned. "Is her constitution weak? You might not even get started before she's down."

Douglas ignored Charles's comments. He couldn't explain how Regina got sick because of him.

"What about Philip?" Douglas asked.

When she heard Philip's name, Regina's thoughts cleared. She pretended to sleep but listened intently.
