Chapter 150 Something Special Happened Between Them Three Years Ago

After having dinner at Semona Estate, Regina offered to stay over.

Douglas' family was very welcoming, and even the usually reserved and aloof Regina gradually blended in.

But Douglas was a bit frustrated because every time he came here, he had to sleep alone.

Last time, Regina stayed with Nancy, and this time, she was in Nicole's room, not back even after midnight.

'She is probably going to sleep there.' Thinking of this, Douglas picked up his phone and called Nicole, asking, "What is Regina doing now?"

Nicole chuckled. "She's lying on my bed keeping me company. We have so much to talk about tonight. Douglas, don't wait up. Go to bed early. She's staying with me tonight."

"Is she willing?"

After a moment of silence, he heard Regina's soft voice from the side. "I am willing."

Douglas didn't insist and merely advised them not to stay up too late before hanging up.

Despite this, he couldn't help but wonder what Regina and Nicole had so much to talk about.

What he didn't expect was that the two women lying in bed were talking about him.

To be precise, Nicole was doing all the talking, and Regina was quietly listening, completely absorbed.

Nicole recounted some amusing stories from the past with Douglas, occasionally making Regina smile.

Nicole was four years younger than Douglas. They attended the best private schools in Oriant City for elementary, middle, and high school, which were all close to each other, especially the middle and high schools, which were connected.

Growing up, Nicole was always Douglas' tagalong.

Although their study schedules were different, Douglas always took Nicole to and from school.

"Even when I had a high school romance and the teacher called my parents, it was Douglas who went," Nicole said with a smile. "Later, when I went to college in Normon City, he was already working. Even though we were in different cities, he often visited me. Sometimes, when he had business trips passing through Normon City, he would make a special stop. Thanks to his frequent visits, he found you! Otherwise, where would he find such a good wife like you?"

Listening to Nicole talk about Douglas' past, Regina felt a mix of sweetness and bitterness.

She tried to probe, "Nicole, during those years you were in college in Normon City, did I have any interactions with Douglas?"

"Actually, I don't know how many times you met. I mean, I wasn't always present when you met. Maybe you met privately? Or maybe not; you might have just forgotten."

Nicole didn't hide anything and told her everything she knew.

"I remember one time clearly, it was your graduation day. He came to our school, watched your graduation ceremony, and saw you taking graduation photos with your then-boyfriend..."

Recalling this, Nicole felt a pang of pain. She could never forget Douglas' every move and his expression at that moment.

Douglas, usually unshakable like a fortress, appeared on the brink of collapse at that moment.

"There was another time. I don't know if you have any impression of it." Nicole observed Regina's expression as she spoke, and seeing the confusion in her eyes, she knew Regina had no recollection.

She sighed deeply and said, "This happened three years ago in Oriant City."

Nicole recalled the event with a heavy heart.

As Regina listened, her heart sank.

By the time Nicole finished, Regina took a deep breath and pulled the blanket over her head, trying to hide her emotions, but Nicole could clearly feel Regina's sadness.

Nicole was secretly anxious. "Um... Regina, are you crying?"

Oh no!

If Douglas found out she made Regina cry, he would never forgive her!

But then Nicole thought, 'How could it be my fault? This should be blamed on Douglas.'

The next day, Regina's eyes were swollen when she checked herself in the bathroom mirror.

Everyone would be worried when they saw her.

Regina washed her face and borrowed Nicole's makeup to cover her tired, puffy eyes, feeling a bit relieved.

Around eight o'clock, Regina went out with Nicole to have breakfast at Leo's place.

Everyone was almost there.

As soon as she walked in, Douglas' eyes fell on her.

He frowned slightly, perhaps noticing something.

Regina acted as if nothing had happened and sat down beside him.

Douglas stared at her eyes for a few seconds, puzzled but not asking anything to make her uncomfortable in front of everyone.

They spent a leisurely day at Semona Estate.

They didn't go home until after dinner.

On the way back, Douglas noticed Regina seemed distracted and asked, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell or in a bad mood?"

Regina hadn't figured out how to bring up the matter, so after hesitating for a moment, she went along with his words. "Maybe I ate too much tonight, feeling a bit uncomfortable."

Douglas chuckled. "Want to go for a walk to digest?"

"What?"

"Take a walk."

Upon returning home, Douglas parked the car and took Regina for a stroll in the villa's backyard.

That night, Regina, perhaps tired and having not slept the previous night, quickly fell asleep once she lay down.

Douglas, however, wasn't sleepy. He picked up his phone and saw it was eleven o'clock.

He found a number in his contacts and sent a text.

The reply came quickly: [Douglas, what's up?]

For Charles, eleven at night was just the beginning of his nightlife.

He had been busy with work lately and hadn't relaxed or hung out with Douglas for a while. Seeing Douglas text so late, Charles got interested and thought of inviting him out. [Do you want to...]

Before Charles could finish typing, another message came through. [Give me the number of that urologist you mentioned last time.]
