Chapter 30 Make It Up
It had been a long time, and Philip still hadn't seen Regina. He called Mars. "Are you sure she's still at the office?"
"Yes."
"I've been waiting for three hours, but I haven't seen her." Mars was frozen. He had been with Philip for so many years, but he had never thought that Philip would patiently wait for a woman for hours.
"Mr. Sterling, why don't you give her a call? It would help if you let her know that you're waiting for her," Mars advised seriously and carefully. "Mr. Sterling, Ms. Valrose isn't unreasonable. As long as you contact her and apologize, there's still a chance to make up everything."
"Apologize to her? Makeup what?" Philip's tone was mocking, and Mars could only shake his head helplessly. Philip clearly cared about Regina, but he pretended not to. He would regret it when he truly lost Regina, wouldn't he? Philip just wanted to see Regina. Since that night at his birthday party, he hadn't seen Regina. She said she wanted to break up with Philip, but it wasn't up to her to make that decision unilaterally.
When Mars remained silent, he heard Philip's impatient voice again, "Regina has blocked my number and deleted my WhatsApp as well. How can I contact her?" In addition, Regina deleted everyone related to Philip.
Mars cautiously suggested, "Although she has deleted our contact information, we still have her phone number. Shall we try calling her from a different number, okay?" He made a reasonable point.
Soon, Mars brought a new phone, which only stored Regina's number. Philip dialed the number. The phone was answered after just one ring. Philip frowned.
"Hello?" When she saw it was a call from an unfamiliar number, Regina instinctively asked, "Who is this?" Regina's calm voice made Philip feel very sad. She sounded calm. During their breakup, Regina had been living a peaceful life.
Philip used his fingers to tighten his tie, and he felt a little more at ease.
Regina waited for a long time without a response, so she repeated, "Who is this?"
"It's me." Regina immediately recognized Philip's voice. As she was about to hang up, she heard Philip's cold voice. "What do you mean by avoiding me? I'm downstairs at your company. We need to talk."
Regina's hand, which was about to hang up, froze. She wasn't someone who liked to look back, but she also didn't want to be someone who avoided problems. Philip was already downstairs at the company, and he had obviously tracked her down.
"Where are you?"
"At the entrance of Section A of your company."
"Okay, wait a few minutes. I'll come after I finish what I'm doing." Regina hung up the phone without waiting for Philip to respond. Regina said a few minutes, but in reality, she hadn't arrived after fifteen minutes.
Philip stared at the time on his phone, counting every minute. Finally, after twenty minutes, Philip saw the familiar woman walking towards his car. Regina was wearing a beige coat and a hazy blue scarf as if intentionally covering half of her exquisite face. Even so, Regina was still exceptionally eye-catching in the dark. Regina walked to Philip's car.
Seeing that Philip hadn't gotten out, she couldn't help but furrow her brows lightly. She stood on the driver's side and asked through the lowered window, "What do you want to talk about?"
Philip looked up at Regina. She looked cold and beautiful. Many people said that Regina and Claudia looked alike. In fact, Philip was very clear that she was nothing like Claudia. He remained in the car. "It's cold outside, so let's talk in the car."
Regina stood there, unmoving. "That's fine; I can hear you." Despite being less than three feet apart, Philip felt a gap between them that was hard to bridge.
Regina's indifferent attitude made Philip chuckle in anger. "What are you afraid of?" Regina no longer wanted to hide. "We have broken up, and I have found someone I like and am dating. I don't want to do anything disloyal."
"You're dating someone?" Philip repeated sarcastically, word by word. "Very interesting." Regina knew Philip wouldn't believe her. In fact, she hadn't expected things to come to this as well. "Believe it or not, that's the truth. Mars once told me that no woman has ever dumped you. I know you're not happy because I initiated the breakup, as it would make you feel embarrassed," Regina said, looking into Philip's eyes, blunt and sincere.
"But I believe everyone can see who the pathetic one is in our relationship. Don't worry. If I leave you, no one will say you've lost anything, and no one will dare to mock you. They will only say I'm foolish or that I don't know how good you are."
Regina's words were like a bucket of cold water, extinguishing what little warmth and patience Philip had left. His anger surged. He opened the car door, got out, and stood in front of her, his gaze dark. Philip was tall, so Regina had to look up to make eye contact with him. But Regina couldn't be bothered to look up at him now.
"Do you see how I'm treating you?"
This time, Philip was the one who called first, and he was the one who came to find Regina.
"Regina." his voice was cold. "Do you think we're done like this?" Regina thought carefully. In the past six years, Philip had indeed spent a lot of money on her. There were large transfers, haute couture, expensive jewelry and handbags. But why wasn't it clear between them?
"I will give you back everything you bought for me." Regina had been able to live independently since college, and she rarely used the things Philip gave her. Those luxury items were basically still there. As for the ones that were old or lost, she would buy new ones to give back to him.
"Do you think I care about those things?"
"Then what do you care about?" Regina looked up at him coldly. "Are you saying that you care about wasting six years on me?" Regina was now different from before. When she was with Philip, she was gentle and obedient. Now, she was like a gun, pushing Philip back.
"Philip, this is the end. Don't do this again."
Staring at Regina's soft lips, Philip had a strong urge to lose control. He grabbed Regina's wrist, pressing her body against the car door. His body completely covered hers, the tight feeling almost suffocating Regina.
"What do you want?"
He sneered. "I want to do what I haven't done for so many years." Regina stared at him in astonishment and struggled hard. Just as Philip was about to go further, a cool voice sounded behind him ruthlessly.
