Chapter 62 Did He Work All Night?

The woman, noticing no one had opened the door for a while, pressed the doorbell again.

Regina snapped out of her daydream and opened the door.

When their eyes met, Regina looked confused, but the woman smiled and recognized her.

"Regina, right? You look even more beautiful now. His taste is impeccable!"

Regina asked, "Who are you?"

She was puzzled that the woman knew her name.

The woman greeted her warmly, "Hi, I'm Nicole Semona."

'Nicole? Douglas's sister? Miranda's classmate?' Regina thought.

"Oh, hi!" Regina, still a bit confused, stepped aside to let her in.

"Your brother's still sleeping. I'll wake him up."

Nicole smirked, "Really? Did he work all night or something?"

Nicole had never seen Douglas sleep in; he was usually very disciplined.

Regina quickly explained, "He's been swamped with work. Last night, he was in the study until almost two. Plus, my grandmother just passed away, and he's been very supportive."

Regina paused on her way to Douglas's room and turned to Nicole, "Can we let him sleep a bit longer?"

Nicole understood Regina's concern.

"Of course. I'm here to see you, not him."

Nicole had been in Frannice for six months and, knowing Douglas had married, couldn't wait to visit.

As soon as her plane landed, she headed straight to Douglas' place.

Regina felt a bit embarrassed by Nicole's straightforwardness.

She and Douglas had been married for over two months, but she hadn't met his family yet. At first, she had only planned on staying married for six months, but she hadn't expected to agree so quickly to his suggestion of giving their marriage a real shot.

It was morning, and she hadn't even had a chance to freshen up.

Regina glanced at her pajamas, worried about making a bad impression.

But Nicole kept praising her, "Your skin is so soft. You look slim but have a great figure. Douglas is lucky; he found a gem.

"And your voice is lovely. Just between us, he likes melodic voices too."

Nicole's chatter left Regina speechless.

Feeling overwhelmed, Regina cautiously said, "I'm not that great. My marriage to Douglas was just a coincidence."

"Coincidence?" Nicole laughed. "You think it was a coincidence?"

Thinking back to her blind date with Douglas, Regina said, "I suppose it is."

"So what did he say that made you decide to marry him?" Nicole asked.

Regina replied, "We met on a blind date. He said his family was pressuring him to find a partner."

"And then he found you?" Nicole asked.

"Yeah," Regina said.

Nicole shrugged, "And you believed him?"

Regina nodded. At least, at that time, she did.

Nicole thought, 'Alright, if anything goes wrong, Douglas will handle it.'

But she was curious, so Nicole asked, "Did you really have no impression of Douglas during that blind date?" Nicole asked.

Nicole was sure Douglas' face was unforgettable, yet Regina seemed clueless.

Regina, confused by Nicole's persistence, thought she meant before the blind date.

"No impression," she replied. They hadn't met before.

When they did meet, she only noticed Douglas's deep voice, height, and handsomeness—a true elite.

"That's impossible," Nicole remarked.

The more Nicole listened, the more absurd it seemed.

She thought, 'Haven;t they met at Normon City University back then?'

Nicole was unaware of Regina's memory issues caused by a near-drowning accident during her junior year.

However, Nicole knew it was best to keep her mouth shut until she had a clearer picture of what was really going on between Douglas and Regina.

As they chatted, the bedroom door opened.

Douglas emerged, tall and clad in black pajamas. His sleepy, disheveled appearance didn't hide his handsomeness.

His first glance was at Regina on the couch, checking if she had cried last night. Her complexion wasn't great, but her eyes weren't swollen, so probably not.

Douglas then looked at Nicole. "What are you doing here so early?"

Nicole pouted, "I wanted to see your wife."

She linked arms with Regina and asked, "Can I borrow Mrs. Semona for some fun today? I haven't been back to Oriant City in a while and need a companion."

Douglas was about to refuse when Regina smiled and said, "Sure, I actually have plans with someone today, and that person is your college classmate."

"Who?" Nicole was surprised. What a coincidence.

"Miranda. She's a junior in college and a good friend of mine. We're colleagues now," Regina said.

Nicole's eyes lit up with recognition. "Oh, it's her! I remember now—she's the lively, adorable girl with outstanding grades."

Normon University was one of the top schools in the nation, so anyone who got in was bound to be exceptional.

After graduation, Nicole kept in touch with only a few classmates. Mentioning Miranda brought back memories.

"She was in the Dubbing Club, right? Didn't your club host an event once? She handed out tickets in our class," Nicole recalled.

At that time, the Dubbing Club was still relatively new and not very popular at Normon University. While other clubs might have crowds lining up for their events, the Dubbing Club's tickets were barely sought after.

Miranda had given Nicole two tickets, suggesting she come along if she had time.

Nicole had gone—and Douglas had accompanied her.

Nicole thought, 'But why does Regina seem to have no recollection of it?'

Nicole looked at Regina with a hint of frustration. She had so many things she wanted to say but felt she couldn't.

Douglas was more frustrated. He finally had a free weekend to spend with Regina, but she was going out.

Seeing them ready to leave, Douglas walked up to Regina.
