Chapter 27 Charming

Regina sat on the sofa in her white silk pajamas, unaware of how alluring she appeared.
Douglas stared at the photo, salivating. After a moment, he saved the picture.
During this time, Regina had been staying at Douglas's place. After work the next day, she went back to her own home.
She packed some documents and a few clothes. While tidying up, she received a call from Douglas, asking about her whereabouts. Regina told him immediately.
After finishing her preparations, Regina glanced at the time. It was almost 9 o'clock. Douglas's flight was scheduled to arrive at 9 in the evening.
Regina quickly gathered her things and prepared to return to Douglas's place.
Meanwhile, a luxury car entered Regina's complex under the cover of night. Douglas parked the car downstairs and looked up. Her room was still lit.
Hearing the doorbell, Regina, who had just finished getting ready to leave, felt puzzled. She cautiously approached the door. When she saw the man standing outside through the indoor monitor, she was stunned, unable to believe her eyes. The dim hallway lights made him even more charming.
Douglas stood there, casually draping a black coat over his arm. He had come straight here from the airport and looked really tired, but his exhaustion couldn't hide his handsomeness and nobility. Regina regained her composure and quickly opened the door.
As their eyes met, Regina's eyes sparkled. She didn't realize that her gaze towards Douglas was changing.
"What brings you here?" she asked.
He chuckled. "I'm here because you are here."
"I was just about to leave. I thought you would arrive around the same time I did," she said.
"Well, I'm here 40 minutes early," he replied.
Regina was dazed for a moment before understanding what Douglas meant. She smiled, not quite sure if he was serious or pampering her.
"Next time, I'll pick you up at the airport. You can see me as soon as you get off the plane," she suggested.
Douglas ruffled her hair. " I'm good. You'll be tired," he said.
Regina thought, 'I'm just going to the airport to pick him up. How could I be tired? And it's not like I have to do it every day.'
But Douglas didn't want her to feel tired.
"Are you ready?" he asked. Regina nodded. Without a word, Douglas picked up the suitcase and a laptop bag that Regina had placed at the door and walked out. Regina held his coat and followed him into the elevator. On the ground floor, Regina saw the conspicuous Maybach. Douglas put the things in the trunk, and the car quickly left Regina's apartment. Regina had lived here for over a decade, and she was used to it. At first, she felt out of place at Douglas's place. Now, she had no hesitation in going home with him and even felt a bit excited. Regina found this change in herself strange.
After thinking about it seriously, she finally concluded. It must be because of Molly. She missed Molly, who was still at Douglas's place.
Soft music played in the car as Regina sat quietly in the passenger seat, looking at her phone. Douglas glanced at her and noticed that she was texting someone. It was Miranda. They had known each other for many years and happened to work together, so they were close.
Miranda sent several voice messages, and Regina silently converted them all into text. As they chatted, Miranda suddenly sent her an invitation and a long voice message: [Did you receive the invitation today? Let's go to Norman University on the 20th of this month. The Dubbing Club is celebrating its 10th anniversary. I heard that the current president is making an effort to invite Dougal. That's great!]
In college, Regina and Miranda were both members of the Dubbing Club, which was their common interest. Dubbing was Regina's part-time job, and she had done voice-overs for several radio dramas, with the highest viewership exceeding one billion. Regina didn't give Miranda a certain answer right away; she just said she would decide in a few days.
She looked at the calendar and realized that the 20th was not a weekend, so she wasn't sure if she would have time.
Miranda also felt that she might not be able to take time off. She frowned and sent another voice message: [If Dougal participates in the event, I will not hesitate to join, regardless of whether I can take time off.]
Dougal. He was the most mysterious big shot among voice actors. Although he had only been in the industry for five years and had few works, his voice was very pleasant. Regina was frozen when she saw that name. She also liked Dougal's voice very much. For a while, she often listened to his radio dramas to fall asleep.
Regina thought the possibility of Dougal attending the event was very small and decided not to think about it anymore. Regina came back to her senses and replied with a light laugh: [That is a bold thinking? Aren't you afraid of being fired?]
[I'm afraid of it for sure, but Dougal is my idol. I'm willing to be fired to see him. He's worth it!]
Regina said: [Do you remember what you said some time ago?]
[Whattt?]
[You said you wanted to work for Mr. Semona for a lifetime.]
Miranda didn't know how to reply. She thought, 'Well, I'm just that indecisive because I like my job, and I like Dougal. It would be great if I could have both of them.'
Regina smiled and focused on texting. Douglas raised an eyebrow and asked, "What makes Mrs. Semona so happy?" His lazy tone carried a hint of indulgence, causing Regina's heart to skip a beat. Her heart rate increased.
"A colleague." Regina replied after a pause, adding, "A female colleague."
Douglas casually asked, "What are you talking about?"
"On the 20th of this month, she wants to take a leave and go back to Norman University for the 10th anniversary of the club's establishment, but she's afraid she won't be able to get time off. She's struggling."
