Chapter 109 Intimacy Heats Up
Worried that Sandra might be deceived again, Melissa sent Regina a photo, though it was somewhat blurry.
In the photo, the man's back looked ninety percent like Philip's.
The remaining ten percent of uncertainty was because Regina couldn't believe deep down that Philip would do such a thing.
In the morning, after the department meeting, Regina sat at her desk, staring at the computer screen, somewhat distracted.
Her phone kept vibrating on the desk, but she didn't notice.
It wasn't until a colleague nudged her elbow to remind her that Regina snapped out of it.
During the lunch break, Regina called Sandra.
Sandra was quite surprised to receive her call. "You actually called me."
Regina asked directly, "Who is the new guy you're seeing?"
Sandra didn't expect her to be probing about this.
She smirked. "What's it to you?"
"I'll ask again, what's his name, how long have you known him, and how did you meet?"
"Enough, Regina." For once, Sandra felt a moment of triumph seeing Regina's calm facade crack. "Unlike our shady relationship, I'm openly dating him. You don't need to ask."
Afraid that Regina might not catch her insinuation, Sandra quickly added, "After all, there's a big difference between a mistress and a girlfriend."
"Sandra, you're asking for it."
"Oh, please, I know you're jealous of me!"
Regina knew that once Sandra got stubborn, no one could persuade her.
Regina wasn't really interested in what kind of man Sandra was dating, even though it was Philip. What she truly wanted to know was why Philip was doing these things. Did it have anything to do with her?
Regina's current life was so good that she was afraid of stirring up any trouble.
Knowing she wouldn't get the answers she wanted from Sandra, Regina didn't bother to continue the conversation and hung up.
She gripped her phone tightly, standing in the bathroom stall, feeling a bit like Sandra said, somewhat shady.
She stared at the dialing screen on her phone.
She had blocked Philip's number a long time ago, but it was etched in her mind. Despite sometimes having a poor memory, she could never forget those digits.
Regina's fingers repeatedly hovered over the screen.
She didn't know how long she had been lingering in the bathroom, but when her phone buzzed again in her hand, she felt a surge of anxiety.
Seeing it was a call from the CEO's office, Regina composed herself and answered, "Hello, how can I help you?"
"Ms. Valrose, could you please come to the CEO's office?"
"The CEO's office?" Regina was taken aback, her voice carrying a hint of excitement she didn't even notice. "Is Mr. Semona back?"
The secretary seemed puzzled by her tone. 'Regina seems happy about Mr. Semona's reutrning?'
Suppressing her curiosity, the secretary continued professionally, "Yes, Mr. Semona is back. He needs to see you about an issue with the Garmeny project, so if you could..."
The excuse sounded quite official.
Regina agreed and quickly left the bathroom stall.
It was lunchtime, so there were fewer people around the office. Taking advantage of the lack of attention, Regina headed to the CEO's office.
Pushing open the door, she saw Douglas, whom she hadn't seen for a while, sitting on the black sofa, looking at his phone as if timing something.
The moment their eyes met, the air around them seemed to heat up with a hint of intimacy.
Regina tried to keep her emotions in check as she walked over.
Douglas grabbed her wrist and pulled her onto his lap.
His large hand cupped the back of her head as he kissed her.
Since that trip to Garmeny, Regina had felt their relationship progressing rapidly.
Previously, she would always be proper when she appeared in his office.
But now, he would lose control and kiss her in the office. He seemed eager to make love to her right then and there.
