Chapter 126 Falling Into It

Regina actually knew that Douglas could endure it.

If she refused, he would definitely respect her decision.

Regina parted her lips, yet the words of refusal never came out.

Regina felt it was utterly absurd, and she was incredibly nervous.

A passionate kiss fell upon her lips.

Douglas sensed the soft touch, tinged with a hint of sweetness.

The wild, rampant love was almost obsessive.

Douglas came out of the bathroom after his shower and saw Regina standing by the floor-to-ceiling window.

The Century Group was a landmark building in Oriant City. Standing at the highest point, one could usually see the bustling and enchanting cityscape through the entire wall of windows.

Tonight, because it was late and dewy, a layer of fog had formed on the glass.

Douglas looked at Regina's back, his rationality completely consumed by lust.

He walked up and embraced Regina. His actions were gentle yet assertive, making Regina irresistibly succumb to the passion.

Later, Regina fell asleep in his arms, exhausted. Douglas helped her wash up and changed her clothes without her noticing much.

Regina slept until the next morning.

The heavy curtains blocked out the light in the break room completely. Regina slowly opened her eyes, drowsily staring at the ceiling for a long time.

She lazily reached out from under the covers, grabbed her phone from the bedside table, and checked the time.

It was already 8:30 AM.

Although it wasn't too late, she was already half an hour late for work. Douglas was surely already busy in his office, probably with a group of people coming and going to report their work. Thinking of this, Regina put down her phone and went back to sleep for a while.

Regina could lie in the CEO's break room so comfortably because she no longer felt the initial unfamiliarity and distance she had when she first got married to Douglas. She had many apprehensions about their relationship before. Secondly, she was genuinely too exhausted to get out of bed.

At the CEO's office, a cleaner was tidying up the office. Usually, this should have been done before 8 AM, but today, when the cleaner came to clean the CEO's office, she found the door locked from the inside.

The CEO's assistant, Jason, told her that Douglas was still resting inside and that the cleaning would be done half an hour later today.

The cleaner was puzzled.

Actually, at this point, the surprise on Jason's face was palpable.

When had Douglas ever slept in during work hours?

The cleaner quickly cleaned the entire room. In her peripheral vision, she saw a dark blanket draped over the black leather sofa.

She didn't think much of it and took it to be washed.

The rest of the place wasn't very messy.

Finally, she glanced at the tightly closed break room door, ready to clean it as usual, but Douglas stopped her. "No need to clean there today."

"Oh, okay."

Despite not understanding why, the cleaner quickly left.

Soon, people started coming in and out of the office.

For some reason, everyone felt that Douglas seemed unusually approachable and easygoing today.

After all, they were well aware of Douglas's usual demeanor.

Douglas signed a document and handed it to a senior executive.

Then, a project manager came in to report some project progress.

Douglas's work proceeded methodically, as usual, meticulous to the point of being somewhat tedious.

Suddenly, his gaze fell on the neat and clean desk, and he recalled the passionate night they had on it.

The traces of last night's passion had clearly been tidied up, but the scenes vividly replayed in his mind.

His Adam's apple bobbed, and he squinted slightly.

Suddenly, he found his work to be a bit more "interesting."

Douglas kept an eye on the time, and by noon, he noticed there was still no movement from the lounge.

Finding it unusual, he got up and walked towards the break room.

Opening the door, he saw Regina still wrapped in the blanket, lying on the bed. She was wrapped tightly, with only her head exposed, sleeping soundly.

Douglas smiled pleasantly but didn't wake her.

He simply instructed his secretary, Dorothy, to prepare lunch and bring it to his office.

Dorothy noticed that the items Douglas ordered were completely different from his usual preferences. Out of caution, she asked, "Mr. Semona, are these for you?"

"No, they're for my wife," he answered calmly.

Dorothy looked around the empty office in shock, finally resting her gaze on the closed lounge door, and tentatively asked, "Mr. Semona, is your wife here?"

Douglas nodded in acknowledgment.

Dorothy was visibly stunned! 'Oh my God, the mysterious Mrs. Semona...Is this her first time appearing at the company?' she thought.

Dorothy was in a daze for a while before she shook off her reverie and quickly went to order the food.

By the time the food arrived, Regina had just woken up.

Douglas had timed it perfectly.

Regina poked her head out from under the covers, watching Douglas, dressed in a suit, walk steadily towards her, backlit by the light from the door.

Douglas sat down by the bed, gently touching her still-flushed cheek. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Semona."

Regina didn't think there was anything to apologize for, but she was a bit annoyed that she had missed half a day of work because of this.

Douglas immediately knew what she was thinking from her expression.

He realized she seemed to love her job genuinely.

The most exaggerated instance was once at home when they were making love, and Janet called to assign her a task. Even though she was dazed, she immediately wanted to go to the study and start working on her computer. In the end, Douglas had to hold her down somewhat helplessly.
