Chapter 226 The Wedding (1)

Douglas flipped through the photo album on his phone, his finger gliding over the screen. When he hit the twenty-fifth photo, he froze.

Everyone's eyes locked onto him.

Regina's heart skipped a beat, a wave of unease washing over her.

This was his personal phone, packed with photos and videos of her, Matt, and Lily.

Normally, Douglas would show off a photo without a second thought. But now, he was hesitating. What was he hiding?

Regina's mind raced, 'What's in that twenty-fifth photo? It should be a recent one, right?'

Then it hit her—two days ago, she and Douglas had a wild night.

And they had whimsically recorded it.

'Oh God, could it be that photo?' she thought, her face heating up.

Douglas noticed Regina's blush and remembered that night too.

He loosened his tie, feeling the heat.

Instead of opening the photo, Douglas locked his phone and put it away, making everyone even more curious.

Grace asked, "Dougal, what's up?"

Douglas, trying to play it cool, said, "Sorry, can't show this one."

"Huh?"

"It's too intimate."

Everyone was stunned for a moment, then excitement buzzed through the room.

"So it really can't be shown!"

"But I really want to see it."

"I think I'm a bit of a perv!"

"Uh, me too, honestly."

The crowd was in an uproar. Grace quickly regained her composure and said, "Since Dougal's twenty-fifth photo is off-limits, can we see the twenty-fifth photo on Regina's phone?"

Regina, still blushing, understood the host was trying to save the situation. She nodded, her voice a bit shaky, "Sure."

She opened her photo album and found the twenty-fifth photo.

Luckily, it was nothing scandalous.

The twenty-fifth photo in Regina's album was from yesterday, taken with Douglas, Matt, and Lily at Norman University.

It was a sweet shot of the four of them.

They stood on a tree-lined avenue at sunset, each holding a baby. Their faces were partly hidden by the backlight, but the happiness was clear.

"Wow, this photo is beautiful, Regina. Can we see a few more?"

Regina generously showed Grace more photos from her album.

Those captured moments always brought back wonderful memories for Regina.

The event wrapped up around noon.

As Regina and Douglas left the old gymnasium, she still felt like she was dreaming.

By now, news about them had spread all over the internet.

They were already big names in their circle, and with Douglas being the CEO of Century Group, the buzz was huge.

The Semona family didn't see this coming.

"Haha, this is rich! Didn't think he'd pull something like this," Leo laughed heartily.

Nicole, listening to Leo's laughter, figured it was probably because of Regina. Otherwise, Leo would be chewing Douglas out for not focusing on work.

Elizabeth chimed in, "Regina is really something else."

Meanwhile, Charles, Michael, and Josh couldn't resist poking fun at Douglas.

Charles, always quick with a jab, said, "Douglas can do it all. Voice actor today, porn star tomorrow."

Regina didn't let the comments get to her.

She felt that today's event was meaningful and fulfilling.

Seeing her lost in thought, Douglas asked, "What's on your mind?"

"Thinking about the next big thing."

"The next big thing?"

"Yeah."

Douglas knew Regina had been more focused and goal-oriented since recovering from her illness, but he wasn't sure what she had in mind.

Regina said firmly, "Next, I want to join the State Department."

"Anything else?"

"Hmm?"

That question threw Regina off.

She was taking things one step at a time. Joining the State Department would be a long-term effort. How could she think of anything else right now?

But Douglas looked at her, hoping she'd say something more.

Regina thought hard but came up blank. She tilted her head, puzzled.

Douglas sighed, "And our wedding."

Regina blinked, "What?"

Douglas patted her head. "Can you make our wedding your next priority? It won't take long to prepare, and it won't wear you out. You just need to be a beautiful bride and show up."

Douglas spoke gently.

He was worried the wedding wasn't on her radar, worried that being together for so long had dulled her excitement about it.

Regina had indeed been a bit careless.

They'd been married for almost two years, and Matt and Lily were already growing up. She hadn't thought much about the wedding.

But she knew Douglas must have put a lot of thought into it.

"Okay, let's do the wedding first. It's the most important thing!"

Douglas smiled, kissed her forehead, "Thank you, Mrs. Semona."

He thought, 'Thank you for letting me marry you.'

They set the wedding date for their second anniversary.

This year, Douglas was thirty-one, and Regina was twenty-eight.

This year marked nine years of him loving her.

A few days before the wedding, Regina felt something was off, thinking, 'We've been together day and night for two years, sharing countless intimate moments. Why am I heart racing?'
