Chapter 72 Frenzy
Every word Philip spoke seemed to hit Regina's raw nerves.
She fixed her gaze on him, trying to read the truth in his eyes.
Yet those eyes were maddeningly inscrutable.
After what felt like an eternity, she slowly reached out and took the glass from Philip's hand.
When he saw her give in, Philip's brows furrowed deeply. He wasn't sure if he felt satisfied; instead, a whirlwind of conflicting emotions surged within him, pushing him toward a dangerous edge.
Just as he was about to speak, Regina splashed the wine in his face!
She let go of the glass, and it shattered at his feet.
Philip's face darkened as wine dripped down.
"I told you, I won't believe you again," Regina said angrily.
She knew how to hurt him with her words now.
Philip knew he needed solid evidence before telling her about the Seasons Hotel incident.
He didn't plan for her to drink the wine and then let her go. He thought if she drank it, they wouldn't break up.
A restless heat rose in Philip; he had only taken a sip and could barely control himself.
'So what about that night? How passionate must Regina have been with that man after drinking a whole glass?' he thought.
The thought drove him mad with jealousy. He stared at Regina with bloodshot eyes, wanting to devour her.
Regina noticed something was off with Philip.
She kept a cold face and turned to leave.
Just as Philip was about to move, the door opened.
Jason stood there, nodding at Regina. "Mrs. Semona, I'm here to pick you up."
Regina felt a bit confused but quickly understood.
She walked over to Jason. "Thank you."
Jason glanced at the mess and Philip's state without showing any emotion.
After Regina left, he said, "Mr. Semona asked me to tell you, investigate all you want, but if you touch her again, just try."
Then he left.
Philip, furious, kicked over the table, sending things crashing.
He sat on the sofa, tense, trying to control his restlessness.
When Mars got Philip's call, he was surprised.
Philip asked him to find a clean woman.
This was the second time in just over two months Mars had to do this.
Mars had never done this before.
Remembering the scene at the Shades last time, Mars frowned.
'A clean woman? Even the virgin who looked like Regina didn't satisfy him,' Mars thought.
Mars preferred clear tasks, like finding a specific person.
He immediately brought two women to the Peace Club.
The private room looked like a battlefield, and seeing Philip's state, Mars knew something had gone down.
"Mr. Sterling, what happened tonight?"
"Shut up and get out."
Mars shook his head, left the two women, and walked out, closing the door behind him.
Not sure if Philip would change his mind, Mars waited outside.
Perhaps the soundproofing was too effective; he couldn't hear the raucous revelry that was supposed to fill the room.
As Mars had suspected, within just a few minutes, both women had been thrown out.
Mars' head throbbed with an intense ache.
As he was about to enter the room, he almost collided with a fuming Philip.
He quickly stepped aside to avoid the confrontation.
Following Philip, he asked, "Mr. Sterling, where are we going?"
"Home!"
Mars suddenly understood Philip's odd behavior tonight just before getting in the car.
In this so-called world of fame and fortune, Mars had seen his fair share of boundary-less, unscrupulous behavior.
He'd come across more than one instance where people had drugged others just for a thrill in their personal affairs.
He thought to himself, 'But how could Philip end up drinking drugged wine?
'Philip is always meticulous about such things.
'How could he suddenly fall for this trap and end up in such a mess?'
Regina sat in the car, holding her phone, feeling anxious.
She asked Jason, "Jason, has Douglas returned?"
"Not yet."
Douglas was on a business trip and was supposed to return to Oriant City early tomorrow morning.
But Jason thought Douglas might already be on the plane.
Regina hesitated with her phone.
After thinking for a long time, she sent a message to Douglas.
She didn't mention meeting Philip tonight, knowing he'd find out anyway.
She just told him she had changed her phone number.
Regina thought Douglas might be busy and unable to reply because she waited a long time without receiving a response.
At 2 a.m., Douglas's flight landed at Oriant City's airport.
After dropping Regina off, Jason went to the airport to wait.
Through the rearview mirror, he looked at Douglas, who was leaning back with his eyes closed, wondering whether to mention what had happened earlier.
Douglas suddenly opened his eyes.
Their eyes met in the rearview mirror, and Jason immediately slowed the car, seriously reporting, "Philip used the Seasons Hotel as an excuse to meet Mrs. Semona, but he didn't say it was you who entered room 1601 that night."
After all, Philip had no concrete evidence. Or maybe he had other intentions and kept it a secret.
In any case, Philip was a ticking time bomb, ready to explode.
Jason thought, 'people need weaknesses to be controlled.
'Maybe Philip wants to exploit Douglas' weakness to the fullest.'
Recalling the scene he saw when he entered the room, Jason continued, "Philip didn't gain any advantage over Mrs. Semona tonight; she even splashed wine on his face."
After a pause, Jason added seriously, "Mrs. Semona usually seems quiet, but when she gets angry, she has quite a temper."
And she was pretty cool.
Douglas smiled self-deprecatingly. "What do you think she'd be like if she found out it was me in room 1601 at the Seasons Hotel that night?"
