Chapter 140 I'm Giving You a Choice
"Yes," Edward smiled meaningfully and asked knowingly. "What? Are you very worried about her?"
Philip, his eyes closed, struggled several times to suppress his agitated emotions. "How much do you want?"
"You really think I just want? I want you to give back everything that originally belonged to me!"
"Yeah, in your dream."
"Then I'll kill her." Edward's eyes turned vicious. "Anyway, living now is no different from being dead. I'll take her with me to die and frame you for it. Do you think Douglas will let you live in peace? How long do you think you can hold your position?"
Philip didn't expect Edward to have gotten this far.
For the past six years, Philip had hidden Regina well from the Sterling family, at least keeping her out of Edward and William's sight.
However, Philip's impatience and inability to suppress his feelings for Regina these days allowed Edward to quickly grasp his weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
"Where is she? If you dare hurt her, you won't get anything. As long as she's safe, everything is negotiable." Philip quickly calmed down. "I need to hear her voice now. I need to make sure she's with you."
"That depends on whether she's willing to talk to you." Edward lowered his gaze to look at Regina, who was tied at his feet. He slowly bent down and held the phone to her lips.
Regina's eyelashes trembled lightly, and her lips moved, but no sound came out.
Perhaps the repeated torment had taken a toll on her body. She was feverish and weak, but her mind was still clear.
She seemed to be restraining herself, trying not to make a sound.
But even so, Philip seemed to sense her presence just through her breathing over the phone.
He couldn't help but soften his tone, afraid of startling her. "It's okay. Don't be afraid. I'll get you out safely."
Regina closed her eyes, her thoughts tangled like a web at that moment, creating a sense of confusion within her.
"Are you willing to negotiate with me now?" Edward smiled. "If you want to take her back safely, bring a lawyer and the company stock transfer documents to negotiate with me. You have one hour to decide."
With that, Edward hung up the phone before Philip could respond.
When Philip called back, the phone was already turned off.
Philip gripped his phone tightly. Just as he was about to lose his temper, the company receptionist informed him that the president of the Century Group wanted to see him.
Philip didn't need to think to know why Douglas was here.
With a cold face, he told the receptionist to let him up.
Douglas arrived quickly.
Philip had only taken a few puffs of his cigarette when Douglas was already in front of him.
Seeing Douglas's murderous aura, Philip extinguished his cigarette, stood up, and looked him in the eye. "Mr. Semona, whatever grievances we have can wait until after today. The priority now is to rescue Regina. She's been kidnapped by Edward."
The large office fell into a deathly silence.
Douglas threw a fierce punch directly at Philip's face.
Philip staggered back a step from the blow, but he didn't get angry. He just wiped the blood from his mouth expressionlessly.
Edward hadn't revealed the location.
For now, finding Regina in the vast city of New York was like finding a needle in a haystack.
"You lure Edward out. Whatever Edward wants, you give it to him. I just want Regina safe, or no one will have a good time."
Douglas's words left no room for refusal.
Both of them tacitly decided not to call the police.
Considering Edward's intentions, if the police were to become involved and the situation worsened, it was highly likely that he would implicate Regina as well.
Besides, Douglas already had a plan.
Douglas immediately turned and gave Jason an order.
Jason nodded solemnly and went to carry it out.
On the other side, Philip followed Edward's instructions and immediately called the Heyday Group's legal team to draft the stock transfer documents.
Next, they needed to lure Edward out.
Douglas sneered as he watched Philip draft the stock transfer documents without hesitation.
Philip understood his sarcasm without Douglas having to say it.
But this position, Philip could take it once, he could take it again. If Edward wasn't afraid of death, he could fight Philip for it.
Edward might have grasped Philip's weakness once, but Philip wouldn't let him do it again.
Half an hour later, Philip finished the contract, and Edward's phone was reachable again.
"I'm at the old headquarters of the Heyday Group. Come over."
Philip didn't expect Edward to have taken Regina there.
The old headquarters of the Heyday Group wasn't remote. On the contrary, it was located in a bustling part of the city, a high-rise building with dozens of floors.
The area around the building was busy with traffic and people.
Philip brought only one lawyer and rushed to the top floor of the old headquarters of the Heyday Group.
The top floor was dark but spacious.
Dozens of bodyguards armed with weapons surrounded Regina tightly.
Philip immediately saw Regina tied up in the corner.
She looked like a prisoner.
Her hands and feet were tightly bound with ropes as thick as two fingers.
She was very weak. Even as Philip approached her, she didn't seem to notice, not even opening her eyes, just hanging her head like a broken flower.
Philip's heart tightened.
As he held the stock transfer documents and prepared to move forward, Edward's voice stopped him.
"Stop!" Edward, dressed in his usual suit and looking composed, spoke in a sinister tone.
"I've brought what you wanted. I've signed it, and the company seal is on it. What more do you want?"
"I didn't expect you to be so willing to give up so much for a woman." Edward's lips curled into a smile as he stared at the agreement. "An agreement is just a piece of paper. I've seen your ruthless and unfeeling side more than once. Do you think I'd pin all my hopes on this paper?"
Philip's face turned cold, his voice low and threatening. "Then tell me, what do you want?"
"To ensure I have no future worries."
Edward took a sharp knife from a bodyguard and threw it on the ground.
The sound of the knife hitting the ground was particularly clear in the quiet environment.
Even the previously dazed Regina opened her eyes.
She looked at the knife on the ground, then at Philip's face hidden in the shadows.
Edward's voice came with a laugh. "Only a cripple has no right to compete with me. So, do you want to cut your tendons so you can't stand or move or gouge out your eyes and cut out your tongue so you can't see or speak? I'm not as cruel as you, who can kill without hesitation. I'm giving you a choice."
