Chapter 48 Model Girlfriend
Sensing Douglas's sarcasm, Charles got goosebumps all over his body.
He wondered if he had misspoken again.
"What did Jason say earlier? Making up?" Charles was still pondering this topic. "Is he going to make up with his partner? Philip is quite cunning, using his illness to soften her heart. Women seem to be emotional. If I were a woman, I would feel sorry for her. After all, she has loved Philip for six years."
After all, she had loved Philip for six years.
Charles's words cut Douglas to the core.
He lit up a cigarette, letting it slowly burn down to his fingertips. Only when he felt the slight sting of the heat, just before it could burn his fingers, did he lift his hand to stub out the cigarette in the ashtray?
Meanwhile, Charles, at ease, was still chatting with his friends at the card table about Philip and his girlfriend. "His girlfriend is simply the perfect partner. She has a good temper, listens to him, and is not pretentious. Whenever Philip needed her, she would be there. Sometimes, when Philip had too much to drink, even if it was late at night, she would rush over as soon as she got his call. Back when they didn't have any disagreements if Philip fell sick and had to be hospitalized, she would even quit her job to take care of him in the hospital personally."
After all, Charles, like Philip, was a regular at the Peace Club. Although they didn't belong to the same social circle, Philip's outgoing personality easily caught people's attention. Over time, Charles would hear and see things about Philip.
"But sometimes, she was too rigid. Philip was once exposed for dating a female celebrity who had a boyfriend in the industry."
The release of such news was detrimental to the Sterling family, who cared about their reputation the most.
"At the time, Philip convinced his girlfriend to help clarify the news and firmly stood by his side, trusting him." "But I always feel like I've seen his girlfriend somewhere a long time ago," Charles said, his brow furrowing. "I mean, I saw her somewhere else, and she wasn't with Philip at that time."
Someone nearby joked, "Don't talk nonsense. You remember any beautiful woman you met." Charles couldn't be bothered to argue with them. He really had an impression of Philip's girlfriend.
In the midst of the conversation, Douglas won another hand. Although Douglas won, his face remained gloomy. Charles smiled and said, "Douglas, if playing cards upsets you, why don't you go home and be with Regina? I'm just curious, when are you going to introduce Regina to us? By the way, isn't Regina picking you up tonight?"
Douglas felt that Charles tonight was like a noisy bug, constantly buzzing in his ear.
He impatiently undid a few shirt buttons. "She's not coming."
"The way you said that." Charles knew he had misspoken again, so he tentatively asked, "Are you two not getting along? Did you argue with her?"
Argue?
How could someone like her argue with him?
She had always been polite and courteous to him, treating him like a noble guest. Douglas didn't know what was bothering him tonight.
Before Douglas could speak, Charles enthusiastically offered him advice. "After a couple of arguments, it's easier to make up if you have sex. Experts say that sexual harmony in married life is more important than anything else. A marriage lacking in sexual life is superficial, and a marriage without sexual life is unhappy." After Charles finished speaking, he carefully sized up Douglas.
Douglas was stunning and well-built, and the hormonal aura he exuded made Charles understand what that represented.
"Damn it!" Realizing what he was thinking, Charles blushed.
What was he thinking?
But Douglas rarely had the patience to listen to Charles finish. In terms of sex life, Charles was indeed experienced.
After a moment of silence, Douglas suddenly asked a question that caught Charles off guard, "How can I make her feel something for me?"
"What?" Charles was very surprised and asked, "Do you mean Regina doesn't have any feelings for you now?"
That couldn't be. Douglas was in great shape, something even Charles envied.
"If you take off your clothes, she should react. She couldn't be frigid, could she?"
In front of Regina, Douglas could be considered a complete gentleman. The rogue moves Charles mentioned should scare her off.
The more Douglas thought about it, the more annoyed he became, and he put down the cards in his hand. "That's enough for tonight."
He left the Peace Club and returned home. As soon as he opened the door, Molly wagged her tail happily and greeted him, then sat next to Douglas on the sofa. Douglas raised his hand and looked at his watch. It was already eleven o'clock at night, and she should be asleep by now. But Douglas couldn't sleep tonight. He didn't interfere in her private affairs with Philip; it was his indulgence and respect for her. Douglas believed that she could handle such a relationship.
He was also taking a gamble. Douglas bet that she could forget these six years and willingly stay by his side. He bet that when she looked back, she would only see him.
Regina noticed Douglas's abnormality these past two days. He seemed to have become a little distant in their relationship. Douglas hadn't come home for two consecutive nights, and he hadn't called her to his office during the day, prepared cheesecake and surprise gifts for her, or even reported his whereabouts to her, let alone shared some daily life with her.
Of course, Regina never had the right to demand what he did every day, but the sudden change in his behavior would definitely make Regina suspicious. Regina's emotions were somewhat affected. When Douglas didn't come home on the third night, Regina couldn't help it and cautiously called Jason to find out.
"Ms. Valrose, is something wrong?"
"I want to ask, what is Mr. Semona busy with right now?" Jason glanced at the brightly lit CEO's office and replied truthfully, "Mr. Semona is working overtime tonight."
Recently, the company has had several important projects, and Douglas had been staying in the office until eleven or twelve o'clock for two consecutive nights.
After a few seconds, Regina asked again, "Will he come back tonight?"
"I don't think so." The CEO's office was spacious, with all kinds of facilities. After Douglas finished his work, he slept directly in the lounge.
Regina responded, and she should have hung up the phone directly, but at that moment, she seemed to be in a daze and subconsciously asked Jason, "There shouldn't have been any misunderstandings between Mr. Semona and me recently, right?"
