Chapter 105 He Would Definitely Feel Heartbroken If She Was Humiliated
Sandra apologized, yet there was not a trace of guilt on her face.
Even though they shared the same blood, they couldn't stand each other.
Regina had grown accustomed to this. She knew Sandra did it on purpose to scare her.
Sandra wanted to see her panic and her embarrassment; only then would she be satisfied.
But Regina thought, 'Why should I be treated like this by her? I had people who cared about me too. If I was mistreated, Douglas would definitely be heartbroken.'
Just as Sandra opened her mouth, ready to say something nasty, Regina suddenly raised her hand and slapped her hard, making Sandra's face turn to one side. Blood immediately trickled from the corner of Sandra's mouth, and five bright red finger marks were imprinted on her face like a branding iron.
Sandra's face contorted in pain. She stared at Regina in disbelief.
She had never expected this slap. She knew Regina was always cold and rarely argued with anyone, let alone hit someone.
Seeing Sandra's shocked expression, Regina remained unfazed. "Why are you looking at me? I hit you, and I'm not going to say sorry."
Regina turned and walked past her, heading inside.
Sandra, furious, blocked her way. "Stop! I came here today to talk to you!"
Over the years, Regina, Melissa, and Sandra had met only a handful of times.
Melissa occasionally mentioned wanting to see Regina, but Sandra never took the initiative to find her.
Regina knew Sandra never had anything good to say or do, so she couldn't be bothered to deal with her.
Unexpectedly, Sandra blurted out everything she had been holding in for a long time. "I've had enough of this! I will never marry a cripple! No one will control my life!"
Regina didn't understand why Sandra had come to her with these words.
She wasn't Sandra. She didn't like watching these hysterics or listening to the shouting.
"Vitas said it was the man who keeps you did this to him. That man must be quite something to make Vitas, who is so proud, swallow his pride and not say a word!"
That day, when Vitas tried to molest Regina, it was Douglas who came to her rescue.
Vitas immediately saw the unusual closeness between the two, but after thinking it over, he could only conclude that Regina was Douglas's mistress.
Douglas was ruthless that day, and Vitas indeed met his match. So despite his grievances, he had to swallow his pride.
However, after those events, the Johnson family didn't release any information. Sandra had only recently pieced things together through indirect questioning.
"You're still in contact with that man, aren't you? Since he has the power to make Vitas shut up after such a loss, he must also have the power to make Vitas cancel the marriage to me! When I was chasing after him, he looked down on me. Now that he's crippled and I don't want him, their family is clinging to me. Dream on."
Sandra didn't hide her thoughts at all.
She and Vitas were actually quite a match, one a hypocritical playboy, the other an arrogant and self-centered opportunist.
They were birds of a feather.
After her rant, Sandra looked at Regina with disdain, remarking, "I know you wouldn't help me speak well of me to your lover for no reason, so I'm here to make a deal. If you agree to this, I'll give you what you want. How about that?"
'What I wanted?'
Regina hadn't thought deeply about it when she heard Sandra say, "I won't stop you from seeing Mom anymore, and I won't interfere with how Mom treats you."
After Melissa and Fred divorced, both Sandra and Regina were awarded to Melissa by the court.
At that time, Sandra was too young, and Regina had to go to kindergarten. Melissa, overwhelmed with taking care of both, decided to leave Regina with her grandmother.
What child wouldn't long for their mother's love?
However, since then, Regina had seen less and less of Melissa.
Initially, it might have been because Sandra was young, and Melissa was busy taking care of her, spending all her time and energy on her.
Later, it might have been because Sandra played some tricks.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have said things like "obstruct" and "interfere" now.
Regina sneered. "Do you think I'll still want the things I wanted when I was six, when I'm sixteen and twenty-six?"
Sandra thought Regina was being stubborn. 'How could Regina not want it at sixteen?'
Sandra still remembered that on Regina's birthday that year, she persistently called Melissa over and over. It was Sandra who had silenced Melissa's phone and thrown it under the bed, only for Melissa to find it two days later.
Sandra wanted to say more, but Regina turned and walked inside.
She wanted to follow, while Regina warned her coldly, "If you follow me again, don't blame me for telling my husband that you're bullying me again."
'Husband?' Sandra found Regina disgusting!
It was bad enough to treat a lover as a husband, but she even acted so spoiled and arrogant!
Sandra was thoroughly disgusted, but she was powerless. She could only grit her teeth and watch as Regina disappeared from her sight.
As soon as Regina entered the house, she received a call from Melissa.
"Regina, I know Sandra has a bad temper and is impulsive, but you hit her..." Melissa hesitated.
Regina knew that slap had quickly been reported to Melissa by Sandra.
Melissa was heartbroken, yet she held back and only said to Regina, "Regina, I'm begging you to help me this once. I'm really at my wit's end. Can you talk to that man? Ask him to stop Sandra from marrying Vitas."
Because of this matter, she was caught between David and Sandra.
David was already biased towards sons over daughters, and Sandra wasn't even his biological daughter. Although he had provided a comfortable life for them over the years, he had never truly cared for Sandra.
In his eyes, Sandra was just a pawn he could use for his benefit.
Regina put her phone on speaker and tossed it on the desk, then started rummaging through the house.
Melissa's aggrieved complaints faintly reached Regina's ears.
Melissa didn't stop, and Regina had no intention of speaking until Regina found a diary in an old bookshelf filled with old items.
Melissa's voice also stopped abruptly.
"You feel sorry for Sandra marrying a cripple, but don't you feel sorry for me?"
Regina's tone wasn't angry or hateful, but it still made Melissa's heart skip a beat.
After all, Regina had never said such things before.
She seemed used to Regina being independent, sensible, and cold.
"Don't you think it's pitiful for me to be someone else's mistress?"
