Chapter 707 A Rare Moment of Gentleness

Vera wasn't one to shy away from causing a little commotion. "Hey Susan, bring that fish over here so Teddy can check it out."

Susan, barefoot, walked over to Patrick. Teddy reached out to touch the unfamiliar creature, but before he could, the fish flicked its tail. The laughter that had almost made Teddy choke moments ago turned into tears that nearly did the same.

Molly, standing next to Sebastian, said, "Sebastian, look at that. Half an hour in, and the second round of crying has started."

A group of kids gathered around Susan, eager to see the fish.

Later, Susan ran barefoot to the grocery store, borrowed a plastic bag, and put the fish inside. She and the kids watched it intently.

Randall followed Susan, holding her canvas shoes. "Susan, put your shoes on. You'll hurt your feet."

Susan didn't hear him at all.

In the afternoon, the men went to deliver supplies while Vera and Molly cleaned up the campsite. Teddy, who adored Susan, was held by her.

If time allowed, Molly would have loved to camp there too.

As she cleaned, Molly said, "Dad, Vera, I'm not going home today. I'm going straight to Chase Manor with Sebastian. I promised my mom I'd go to the office tomorrow."

Shawn replied, "When you go back, Susan picked a lot of cherries this morning. Take some for your parents and grandparents."

"Okay, Dad." On the way home, Vera took Susan's bag of fish. Teddy lay in his car seat, looking at the fish that had scared him earlier. Now, he wasn't afraid and even tried to grab at it.

Teddy occasionally looked out the sunroof at the sky. Patrick drove comfortably, and Teddy fell asleep without needing Vera to soothe him.

Vera, feeling a bit tired, hung the fish in the car and lay next to Teddy's seat, falling asleep with him.

Shawn sat in the front passenger seat, eyes closed.

Patrick glanced at his family, smiled, and slowed the car down.

Susan was the most exhausted, having climbed trees in the morning and jumped into the water in the afternoon. She fell asleep as soon as she got in the car. Randall looked back at Susan, his hand instinctively reaching out to gently stroke her hair.

It was one of Randall's rare moments of tenderness, missed by the sleeping Susan.

They arrived home at five o'clock.

As soon as they got out of the car, Cindy lovingly picked up Teddy. Vincent wanted to hold him too but couldn't compete with Cindy. He gently pinched Teddy's little hand and chatted, "Teddy, did you have fun playing in the water today? I heard your laughter from outside. I've replayed the video a dozen times."

Teddy stuck out his little tongue, making Vincent want to show off his adorable child to the world.

Cindy, holding Teddy, laughed, "I've played it dozens of times. My child has the sweetest laugh."

Susan woke up, stretched, and hurried to release the fish.

"Grandpa, where should I put the fish?" Susan asked.

Shawn thought for a moment, "Come on, I'll take you to the pond in our backyard."

Randall called a few servants to put away the leftover fruits and drinks from the trunk. He handed two bags of cherries to one of them. "Vera, I saved a bag for you to take home to your family."

Vera replied, "No need to save so much. It's just the two of them and the nanny at home. I'll take a little bit. Let Susan use the rest."

Susan ran over, "Vera, wait until I make some jam. You can give it to your parents."

Cindy was surprised, "My Susan can make jam? I can't even do that."

Cindy increasingly felt that Randall wasn't good enough for Susan.

Vincent finally got to hold Teddy. His profile picture was now Teddy's face, while Randall's was often criticized by Cindy.

"Let me check if my Teddy got sunburned today."

Vincent, who had become less serious since Teddy came along, said, "Nope, he's still clean. Are you hungry?"

Teddy chewed on his hand, melting Vincent's heart.

Susan took a shower and then ran to the yard to make jam.

Cindy called the servants to find empty bottles for Susan.

The whole family was busy, playing with Susan. Vera helped Susan wash the cherries, while Randall watched from the window, silently sitting down and opening a book.

At Chase Manor, Molly finally returned home, where her family eagerly surrounded her. She continued to be the cherished one in the Chase family.

"Mom, we picked cherries today. I brought some for you." Molly went to wash the cherries.

Ellie didn't forget Molly's quirks, "Did you climb the tree? Can you stand steadily?"

Molly replied, "I didn't pick them. Susan did. I just played around."

She washed the cherries and took some to eat.

Timothy teased Sebastian, "Molly's back, so we can finally see you around the house."

Sebastian, having showered, leaned on the couch, feeling a bit sleepy. "When Mom's not home, you don't stay home either."

Molly sat down and fed Sebastian two cherries. "Sebastian, if you're tired, go upstairs to sleep. I slept in the car, so I'm not tired."

Timothy asked Sebastian, "Do you still have night shifts?"

Sebastian replied, "No night shifts for the next half month."

He glanced at Molly's shoulder.

Molly was speechless. Why did it feel like Sebastian was saying that for her benefit?

"What time do you start work tomorrow? I'll take you."

"I'll catch a ride with Mom," Molly said.

Sebastian was quiet for a moment, "I'm going that way."

In that moment of silence, Molly felt like Sebastian was deeply aggrieved, and she had to cater to his mood. "Okay, you can take me."

Ellie, eating cherries, deliberately asked, "Can Mom catch a ride tomorrow?"

"You have a husband. Why would you catch a ride with Sebastian?"

Sebastian raised an eyebrow and wrapped his arm around Molly, not fully embracing her but making his presence felt.

Ellie replied, "My husband won't take me."

Molly looked at Timothy, "Dad, did you hear that? Mom's complaining about you."

Timothy laughed, "I'll take my wife tomorrow."

After Molly returned home, the servants prepared all her favorite dishes without needing to be told.

Sebastian ate a little and then took Molly upstairs.

At Olteran Manor, Susan was making cherry jam, with a group of people helping her.

Teddy was left alone on the couch by Patrick.

When Shawn looked at Teddy again, he saw the little boy sitting quietly with his chubby legs spread out and his hands pressing on the couch. Shawn was delighted, "Teddy..."
