Chapter 756 Don't Be Disliked by Uncle

Randall sighed and reluctantly agreed, "Alright, fine."

On the way back to the hotel, he started a video call.

Everyone at home was already asleep. Susan tiptoed upstairs, speaking softly to Randall.

"Everyone asleep?" Randall asked.

"Yeah, Teddy's not here. When he's around, the house is still lit up at ten at night."

Randall chuckled, "Teddy's quite a character. Next time, have his mom bring him over so I can see if he's put on more weight."

"Of course he has. Molly visited Teddy today. Apparently, he went to the police station again yesterday."

They chatted while Randall made his way back to the hotel.

Once Randall was safely back in his room, Susan could finally relax and go to sleep.

It was late, and energetic little Teddy yawned widely, leaning sleepily against Vera's shoulder.

Molly and her husband saw Sebastian and his wife off, then closed the door. Patrick took the drowsy Teddy from Vera's arms.

Teddy squinted his eyes open, saw it was Patrick holding him, and snuggled back in for a cozy nap.

"All he does is eat and sleep. You might as well raise a pig; at least it could be your friend," Vera teased, poking Teddy's cheek.

Patrick looked at Teddy and couldn't help but smile.

Kids really are the cutest beings in the world.

The family of three enjoyed a peaceful, happy night. Meanwhile, Susan, still shaken by her boyfriend's scare, had a nightmare.

In her dream, she ran for what felt like forever, fear closing in from all sides. She woke up drenched in sweat.

She checked her phone; it was only 3 AM.

Susan turned on all the lights, went to the bathroom, and hurried back to bed, throwing her shoes aside and diving under the covers, wrapping herself tightly as if to keep out any monsters.

Not a single gap could be left in the blanket, as if something might crawl in and grab her.

Lying in bed, Susan couldn't stop replaying Randall's words and the horror movie scenes in her mind. She couldn't fall back asleep.

When daylight finally broke, she dozed off for a bit, but her phone alarm soon rang, reminding her of her exam.

Susan, eyes half-closed, made her way to the dining room for breakfast.

Shawn, well-rested without his grandson around, was full of energy. "Susan, did you study so hard last night that you got dark circles?"

Cindy noticed her tired look, too. "Susan, are you okay?"

"Randall told me scary stories and made me watch a horror movie. I woke up terrified and couldn't sleep until five."

Cindy was furious. "That rascal! Doesn't he know you have an exam today? If Vera were here, she'd give him a good beating."

Shawn added, "Don't worry, Susan. Grandpa will give Randall a piece of my mind later."

Yawning through breakfast, Susan made herself a cup of coffee and headed to school.

Randall received calls from both Cindy and Shawn, scolding him for scaring Susan.

"If Susan fails her exam because of this, you'll have to answer to me," Cindy warned.

Shawn added, "Just wait until I tell Vera."

Vera did get a call from Shawn, who summarized the situation succinctly. "So you want me to beat up Randall?"

"Exactly."

"Pay up. No money, no deal."

"Talking money with family hurts feelings."

"Even with family, accounts must be settled. Not even for my dad."

"I'm still your dad."

"Fine, I'll give you a discount."

Shawn hung up in frustration.

A moment later, Vera called back. "I'll throw in an exorcism charm."

"What?"

Vera held the phone to Teddy's mouth. "Cry for Grandpa."

Shawn quickly hung up again.

Teddy, staring at the screen, furrowed his little brows, confused.

He hadn't even started crying, so why did the call end?

Vera looked at Teddy, pinched his cheek, and kissed him.

Patrick came downstairs and saw them. "Stop kissing him so much. Boys get spoiled that way."

Vera replied, "Patrick, you have no idea how powerful Teddy's charm is."

Teddy, now used to the kisses, played with the toys his godfather had bought him, filling a corner of the living room.

Vera placed Teddy among his toys, then settled into a nearby rocking chair to study in the morning sun.

Patrick asked, "Can you really study with him making noise?"

"A calm mind can do anything."

Patrick walked over to Teddy, who was lying on the play mat. "I'm off to work."

"Bye-bye."

Hearing "bye-bye," Teddy got up and waved at Patrick.

Patrick hugged Teddy, then walked over to kiss Vera on the forehead before leaving.

Teddy felt something was off. He looked at Vera, losing interest in his toys.

"What are you looking at? Jealous because your dad kissed me?"

Vera instructed two maids to watch Teddy while she studied. After a while, she left the living room, leaving Teddy to play.

In the afternoon, when the sun wasn't too strong, Vera took out a swim ring for Teddy, inflated it, and undressed him.

Teddy, still sucking his thumb, was soon tossed into the backyard pool. "Swim to lose weight, so your uncle won't call you chubby."

Vera added some rubber ducks to the water, letting them float around Teddy.

"Swim away, Mom's right here."

She sat under a tent, keeping an eye on Teddy in the pool.

The midday sun warmed the pool water. Vera checked the temperature, and when it was just right, she let Teddy swim.

Teddy, alone in the large pool, pondered life.

After her exam, Susan didn't dare face Randall. She needed Teddy to calm her nerves.

At Cherry Villa, Vera was just wrapping Teddy in a towel when Susan arrived. "Susan, what brings you here?"

"To see Teddy."

"Come on up, let's get Teddy dressed first."

As they went upstairs, Vera said, "I heard about Randall scaring you. Don't let him fool you. He's all bark and no bite around Austin."

"Vera, who's Austin?" Susan asked, her curiosity piqued.
