Chapter 779 The Chairman of the Olteran Family Fears the President

The whole family had arrived, and the once spacious master bedroom now felt crowded.

Teddy was crying to be held by Vera, but Randall held him tight, letting him cry. As Teddy cried, Randall kissed him, which only made Teddy angrier. His temper was just like Vera's, and his little fists clenched in frustration.

The family was used to Teddy's crying, so they didn't react much.

Cindy walked over to the window and adjusted the curtains, checking the light. She picked up the sheer white curtain and smiled at Susan.

Without a word, Susan's face turned red.

Vincent sat in Randall's chair, feeling the comfort. He ran his hand over the thick stack of books on Randall's desk, noticing there were even more than last time.

Molly looked at Randall and said, "Treat Susan well. Now that you have a girlfriend, your life seems more put together."

Vera came out and said, "I can tell that Susan has put a lot of effort into decorating Randall's place. The white soap dish in the bathroom, the white toothbrush holder on the wall, and all these wall hangings," Vera pointed around, "I bet they were all chosen by Susan. Don't ask me how I know. A guy wouldn't be this meticulous. I was abroad a few days ago and visited Noah's bachelor pad. The moment I walked in, it screamed 'bachelor's room.' Men just make do with the basics, and even if they buy things, it's always black, gray, or blue."

This was Randall's first time renting a place. He's a typical guy, not very sentimental. He probably thought renting was just cheaper than a hotel and that the place was just for sleeping, so it didn't need to be fancy.

But girls are different. They want their living space to be comfortable, and once it's comfortable, they want it to be stylish. And once it's stylish, they want it to feel lived-in. They're never satisfied and always want to buy more things to fill every corner.

Shawn nodded, "That's all thanks to Susan."

Randall, holding a now-exhausted and quiet Teddy, stood next to Susan. "I was just the muscle for the installations. Susan picked out all these things."

Vincent nodded approvingly, "Susan really put her heart into it."

Cindy sighed, "I was going to help Randall furnish the place, but I'm glad I didn't. I could never be as detailed as Susan."

Susan blushed at the praise. "I didn't do much, really. I just couldn't stop myself from buying things. Randall even complained that I was about to buy out the whole online store."

Randall chimed in, "We received over twenty packages in three days. My trunk was always full. And she wouldn't even throw away the boxes, saying she wanted to save them to sell."

Shawn defended Susan, "She's not wrong. Throwing them away would just create more trash. Collecting them to sell is practical. You just haven't experienced hardship. When Grandpa was young, people would dig through trash for bottles and cardboard to sell and make a living."

Cindy added, "Exactly. Mom and Dad went through tough times too. Now that we're well-off, you look down on the few bucks from selling recyclables."

For some reason, even though everyone was praising Susan and scolding him, Randall felt happy.

Vera, always curious, asked Patrick, "Dad, did my husband ever experience hard times?"

Shawn remembered clearly, "Your husband was born into poverty."

Vera was about to feel sorry for Patrick when Shawn added, "But our family wasn't poor."

Vera immediately retracted her sympathy.

Teddy yawned in Randall's arms, and Randall placed him on the soft couch Susan had bought, letting him play by himself.

Teddy was speechless.

Suddenly, Randall snapped his fingers at Teddy, and the sleepy Teddy immediately smiled, struggling to crawl back into Randall's arms.

Sebastian looked at Randall's roommates and, seeing they were all decent people, felt reassured.

Around eleven, the family headed out for lunch, carrying Teddy with them.

With so many people, the elevator was a bit cramped.

Vera finally remembered to hold Teddy.

She carried the heavy Teddy, letting him rest on her shoulder to sleep.

On the way to the parking lot, Vera held an umbrella over herself and her precious Teddy.

When a child wants to sleep, no one can soothe them as quickly as being in their mother's arms.

After holding Teddy for a while, Vera felt him slipping and gave a little bounce to readjust him.

By the time they reached the car, Teddy was already asleep.

"Molly, can you take the umbrella? Teddy's asleep, and I can't fold it."

Molly, having just handed her own umbrella to Sebastian, quickly took Vera's. Seeing Vera was a bit tired, she suggested, "Maybe Sebastian should carry Teddy?"

Vera shook her head, "He's not fully asleep yet. If it's not Patrick holding him, he'll start crying again. I'll carry him. Sebastian has to drive later."

They arrived at Rustic Hearth Cafe, and Randall joked, "You guys are ruthless. I haven't even gotten my paycheck yet, and you're already making me treat."

Shawn scoffed, "Do you think I need your money? I'm still a chairman in front of Patrick. I have plenty of money."

Randall teased, "It's the first time I've seen a chairman afraid of a CEO."

Shawn's hand itched to grab his cane.

During the meal, without a stroller, Teddy, who was asleep, couldn't sit in a high chair. Vera held the chubby Teddy the whole time while eating.

With Patrick not around, there was no one to instinctively feel sorry for her. Usually, Patrick would hold Teddy so Vera could eat freely, but this time she had to switch arms constantly.

Molly noticed, "Vera, let me hold him for a while."

"You eat," Vera replied. Molly had never had kids and wasn't as strong. Teddy was heavy, and even men had to switch arms after a while.

Sebastian offered, "I'll hold him."

But Randall, without a word, used his strength to take the sleeping Teddy.

Everyone was startled, ready for Teddy to start wailing, but Randall patted him gently, and Teddy just stirred before continuing to sleep.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Susan was leaving the next day, and Cindy asked, "Susan, have you packed everything?"

Susan shook her head, "I'll pack tonight. There's not much."

Cindy said, "Let me know when you're leaving tomorrow. Vincent and I have prepared gifts for your parents. You and Randall can take them back."

Vera suddenly realized how smart Cindy was, using gifts to build a good relationship with the in-laws.
