Chapter 780 Leisurely Afternoon

Vera knew exactly what Cindy was up to, but she kept her mouth shut.

Molly knew too, but she stayed quiet.

Randall was the most aware, yet he didn't say a word.

Only Susan, still naive and inexperienced, thought Cindy just wanted to give her parents a gift. She said politely, "I've already been a bother staying at your place. You don't need to go out of your way to give my parents gifts. We should be the ones giving you something."

Randall placed a piece of fish on Susan's plate. "It's already bought, so just take it. No need to be polite."

"Randall."

Cindy urged, "Eat up. Stop calling Randall's name; it won't fill you up."

Cindy smiled, "Susan, don't be so polite with me. One day, Vincent, your grandpa, and I will all visit your parents."

Vera and Molly exchanged glances and chuckled quietly.

During the meal, Susan was left puzzled.

As they were leaving, Vera called Patrick, who knew her location and planned to come over. Vera took the still-sleeping Teddy. "I won't go to Randall's place then. I'll go find my husband directly."

Shawn said, "I'm full and ready to go home, play some games, and sleep." Naturally, Cindy and Vincent would accompany Shawn back.

Molly linked arms with Sebastian. "Shopping, spending Sebastian's money."

The family tactfully left the young couple alone, knowing Susan would leave tomorrow. This afternoon, they wanted to give the couple more time together.

Sebastian, with Molly hanging on his arm, said, "We'll head out now."

Soon, Patrick's car pulled up in front of everyone. The driver stepped out, "Mr. Olteran, Mrs. Olteran sent me to take you to the dock."

Vera got in the car with Teddy.

After sending off all the family members, only the young couple remained at the door. "Randall, what are we going to do?"

Randall looked down, holding Susan's hand. "Let's go. I'll take you ice skating. Have you ever tried it?"

Susan shook her head. "I don't know how."

"I'll be there with you."

Patrick's car stopped by the dock, where a small two-story white boat was slowly approaching.

Teddy woke up and looked around, bewildered by the unfamiliar surroundings.

A distinguished man stepped off the boat. Even on weekends, meeting friends, he was always in a suit, as if he was accustomed to such attire.

He walked straight to the car and opened the door. "Daddy." Teddy's clear voice instantly filled Patrick's heart with sweetness.

"Teddy, you came to find Dad." Patrick picked up the freshly awakened Teddy.

Vera stepped out with an umbrella. "Honey, I hope I'm not interrupting your gathering?"

Patrick smiled gently. "With me here, only others can interrupt Mrs. Olteran's enjoyment. You won't disturb anyone."

Vera felt elated and chuckled. "Honey, keep it low-key. I'll go have fun on my own. You do what you need to do, don't mind me."

After getting his wife and child on the boat, there were about five or six people inside, none of whom Vera recognized. Each man had a female companion.

"I've heard so much about Mrs. Olteran. It's a pleasure to finally meet you," one man joked, noticing the curious Teddy in Patrick's arms. "It's a treat to see Mr. Olteran's adorable son too."

Vera wasn't shy and joked back, "What reputation of mine has everyone heard about?"

"The most famous is your family management. Mr. Olteran always talks about his wife when he's out. Just now, he saw you coming from afar and personally came down to greet you, worried your arms would get tired holding the child."

Sitting at the coffee table, Patrick poured Vera a glass of water. "Here, try this."

Teddy watched Vera eat and drink, his eyes following his mom's mouth.

Patrick turned back and said gently, "You can't drink this, buddy. Dad will make you a bottle of formula."

Handing the child to Vera, he went to prepare the formula. A group of people chatted with Vera, discussing family matters and building connections.

"What did Teddy eat?" Mr. Olteran asked.

"We went to Rustic Hearth Cafe. Dad paid, and Molly and I picked the most expensive items."

Patrick's eyes twinkled with amusement. "Father must be feeling the pinch."

"He said he's the chairman and very wealthy," Vera replied.

In the afternoon, after chatting for a while, the boat moved to the center of the lake. Vera admired the emerald green water, while many people came to chat.

Patrick took Teddy to the bow, where a group was fishing. Teddy nestled in his dad's arms, accompanying Patrick as he fished.

Fishing was relaxing. Four men leaned back in comfortable chairs, while Patrick held his child, fishing and conversing. They discussed everything from international affairs to fish prices, droughts to floods, and unexplored fields.

Perhaps a single sentence could seal a multi-billion-dollar deal.

Teddy was the most focused, clutching his bottle. After finishing his formula, he looked up at Patrick. "Dad."

"Finished? Sit up and keep Dad company while fishing." Patrick placed Teddy on his lap, both father and son sitting in the same posture, gazing at the water.

After a while, Vera came to take Teddy, who was reluctant to leave Patrick.

Vera, tired of the flattery behind, stayed at the bow, watching the men fish.

The heat wave hit, and the fan blew from side to side. Teddy's cheeks turned pink, and sweat formed on his neck and underarms.

Meanwhile, Susan was freezing in the ice rink. "Randall, it's so cold here."

Randall held Susan's hands. "Move around, and you won't feel cold."

Susan, wearing ice skates, could barely stand on the ice. She almost fell as soon as she stepped in, but Randall caught her.

Susan realized she could take advantage of ice skating by holding onto Randall. She wrapped her arms around his waist, feeling safe and secure.

Randall leaned against the railing, using his height to look down at the frightened Susan, a smile playing on his lips. "Come on, ice skating. Holding onto me won't help; everyone's watching you."

Susan wanted to stand steadily, but as soon as she held Randall's hand, he mischievously pushed her, making her cling to him again.

Randall laughed heartily. "You're so scared. When Vera learned to skate, she almost broke her arm."

Susan looked up at Randall. "Did she learn?"

Randall said, "No."

"Molly?"

"She has poor balance, even worse."

Susan felt even more nervous.

Later, Randall stopped teasing Susan and seriously taught her. "Skate boldly. If you fall, I'll catch you, and you won't get hurt."

Susan kept looking at her feet while skating.

"Look up, at me." Susan continued to look down at her feet.
