Chapter 793 Still Spoiling Her
During the meeting, Sam leaned over and whispered to Sebastian, "Hey, who was that stunning woman earlier? Think if I tell Molly, she'll storm into the police station?"
Sebastian shot him a sidelong glance, his gaze so intense that Sam immediately backed down.
Marigold sat in the back row, staring blankly at the figures in front of her.
A colleague nudged her arm, "Marigold, what's up? You seem off today."
"Nothing," Marigold replied, lowering her head. She opened the notebook handed out at the meeting and began jotting down everything the speaker said, trying to focus her mind and avoid distractions.
Her colleague looked puzzled and asked,"Marigold, what do you want for lunch? I can run and get it for you."
Marigold shook her head, "I'll get it myself. Just pay attention to the meeting."
"Alright."
At lunchtime, Sam trailed behind Sebastian. "Sebastian, you and Molly got married, and she doesn't come to the station anymore. Did you tell her not to, or is she just too shy to face us now that she's married to her brother?"
Sebastian glanced sideways and asked, "Why do you talk so much?"
Sam grinned, "Do I? I don't think so. Just a few words."
While getting lunch, Sebastian and Marigold ended up at the same food counter.
"Hi," Sam greeted immediately. "I'm Sam from the financial crimes unit. Nice to meet you."
Marigold nodded slightly and greeted, "Hi, I'm Marigold from the criminal investigation unit."
Sebastian glared at Sam and said, "You're too chatty."
Sam looked confused and asked, "What do you mean?"
Marigold chuckled and explained, "He means you talk too much."
Sam laughed, "Sebastian, you've been with Molly so long, even your insults are getting more sophisticated."
Sebastian didn't respond and turned to Marigold, "You go ahead and get your food."
"Aren't you getting anything?" Marigold asked.
Sebastian glanced at his plate, "I've got enough." He walked past her.
Sam piped up, "I'll get mine. Ladies first."
"Thanks," Marigold said, not standing on ceremony. She grabbed a plate and served herself some chicken and potatoes.
Sam spotted Sebastian's table, "Marigold, come sit with us."
Marigold looked at Sebastian's back and shook her head, "No, thanks. My colleagues are waiting for me."
She carried her plate over to her colleagues. "Marigold, do you know that guy, Sebastian? I heard he's the one who personally arrested some big shots. If it's him, he's really impressive, the youngest captain and all. When he was scolding his trainee earlier, I didn't dare say a word."
Marigold calmly ate her food and said, "Yes, that's him."
Sam sat across from Sebastian and said, "Sebastian, at least give me some face. Scold me later."
"Private scolding doesn't seem to work on you."
Sam scooped some extra chicken and potatoes from his bowl onto Sebastian's plate. "Do you know Marigold?"
"Eat your food."
Sam grumbled internally, 'Sebastian is so heartless.'
During the lunch break, everyone was mingling and making new acquaintances.
Sebastian took the opportunity to drive back to the station. After confirming everything was fine, he drove to the MS Group building. In his police uniform, he stayed in the car and called Molly, "Hey, are you at the office?"
"No, why? Did you come to see me?"
"No, just checking in. Have you eaten?"
Molly found it odd. He must be at her office. "Sebastian, wait for me. I'm heading back now."
Molly drove back quickly. Sure enough, she saw his familiar car parked outside.
She got out and ran to the passenger side, hopping in. "Sebastian, it's only been a day. Why are you here?"
"I missed you. Just wanted to see you."
Molly looked at him, "Did you get demoted? Need some comfort? Or did you get criticized at the meeting and need some praise from your wife?"
Sebastian snapped, "Get out!"
Molly refused, "No."
Sebastian had a trick up his sleeve. He started the car, reversed, and headed for the main road.
"Sebastian, where are you going?"
"Back to the meeting."
Molly was confused, "Then why are you taking me?"
"You wouldn't get out. You can sit in the car while I attend the meeting."
Molly protested, "Stop the car!"
Sebastian refused, "No."
Molly panicked, "I have to take Mom to the factory this afternoon. If you take me away, she'll dock my pay. Sebastian, I'll get out now."
Sebastian turned the car around and dropped Molly back at her car.
Before getting out, Molly leaned over and kissed him, "Sebastian, happy now?"
Sebastian held her hand and asked, "Coming home tonight?"
Molly escaped to her car, rolled down the window, and said, "In your dreams."
With that, she drove into the MS Group's underground parking lot.
Sebastian watched her leave, a smile on his face. But when he thought of Marigold, the smile faded.
He drove back to the meeting place. As he entered the hall, he saw Marigold looking at a poster by the door.
They met again, and Sebastian asked, "Why aren't you inside?"
"Everyone's napping. I'm not sleepy, so I came out for a walk. Where did you go?"
"To see Molly."
Marigold smiled and continued looking at the dull poster, "You still spoil her. Even during lunch, you had to see her."
Sebastian, always perceptive, asked directly, "Are you waiting for me? Do you need something?"
The posters outside were the same in every office building, all with the same message. She could sit inside without any issue, but she chose to wait at the door where he would pass by.
Sebastian knew what she meant.
Marigold turned to him, "Do you have time tonight? Let's have dinner."
She glanced at the wedding ring on his finger, "You can bring your wife too."
"Wait for me at the door when it's over."
With that, Sebastian walked into the main hall and quietly took his seat.
Soon after, Marigold followed.
Sam was still chatting with his girlfriend, "Sebastian, where did you go?"
Sebastian replied, "Went back to the station and saw Molly."
Sam showed him his chat with his girlfriend, "She says you're love-struck and should be careful."
Sebastian glanced at it, "I don't believe in superstitions."
