Chapter 835 Long Time No See, Missing Randall

The Morales family kept their private matters under wraps, and even if Randall knew something, he kept it strictly confidential.

He rushed back home overnight.

Feeling relieved that he was safe at home, Susan said, "Randall, get some rest tonight. You have work tomorrow."

Randall replied, "You shouldn't be resting. Open your laptop and start learning the basics of computing. If you don't put in the effort, you're going to bomb this exam."

Susan sighed, "I can't learn it."

Randall insisted, "If you can't learn it, video call me every night, and I'll teach you."

Susan pouted and muttered, "I just don't want to study, but you keep pushing me."

Ulysses chimed in, "Dad thinks Randall teaching you is a good thing. If you can't learn from him, I can teach you too."

Susan asked, "Dad, do you even know how to sum up a spreadsheet?"

Ulysses looked confused. "I think Randall teaching you can also improve your relationship."

Susan realized he didn't know. "Forget it, you should just keep Mom company."

She took her laptop and went back to her room. The computer hadn't been used for a long time, and it hadn't been turned on even once during their long trip.

Randall hadn't been around for a while, and Vera and Molly missed him. The next day at noon, they brought Teddy to see Randall.

The outdoor temperature was high that noon, and they didn't inform Randall beforehand, just waited at the door.

Soon, Randall came downstairs to pick up his lunch delivery and saw Teddy at the door, along with Vera instructing Teddy, "Teddy, Randall is over there, say hi!"

Randall turned around and saw them standing in the lobby. He was surprised. "Oh my God, what are you guys doing here?"

He walked over with his lunch, and Teddy's eyes followed Randall's hand to his own face.

Vera said, "You haven't visited since you started working. We missed you."

Randall reached out, and Teddy immediately flailed his little arms to go to him.

"Teddy, you still remember me?"

Teddy didn't look at Randall, but at Randall's hand.

Randall handed the lunch to Vera. "Hold this for me."

He held Teddy with both hands, looking at his cute face. "Come on, let me give you a kiss."

Teddy turned his head, his eyes fixed on Vera's hand.

Suddenly, Randall kissed his cheek. Teddy turned back, looking at Randall as if he was about to eat him, his little mouth quivered, and he started crying loudly.

The lobby echoed with Teddy's cries.

Molly looked at the lunch box and asked, "You order takeout every day?"

Randall nodded. He sat in the lobby with the three of them, holding Teddy with one hand and opening the lunch box with the other. The smell stopped Teddy's crying.

When Randall reached for the fork, Teddy's hand eagerly tried to grab it. His mouth opened, drool forming, eyes fixed on the food.

Vera held Teddy in her arms and asked, "What time do you go back to work?"

Randall replied, "Before two."

Molly nodded. "We have enough time. Let's go together. Vera already reserved a spot at Rustic Hearth Cafe."

Randall suddenly felt his lunch wasn't as appealing anymore. It seemed Teddy was the only one who found the takeout enticing.

As they were leaving, Randall saw his boss. "Mr. Erik Brown, you're here."

The overweight man wore an ill-fitting shirt, his eyes scanning Vera holding the baby. "Randall, who’s this?"

Randall replied, "This is my Aunt Vera, and that’s her baby."

He then looked at Molly, and Randall introduced her. "And this is Molly. Her husband’s a cop, and he’s on duty today. She came to see me."

Molly shook her car keys, half-jokingly asking, "Randall, is your work so strict? Do they even ask about family members' jobs?" Her tone had a hint of annoyance.

Randall nodded. "A bit of strictness is good. It shows responsibility towards employees and the company. Right, Mr. Brown?"

Randall smoothed things over for Erik, who didn’t press further. "Yeah, it’s about responsibility. Where are you headed now?"

Vera hugged Teddy’s little head and invited Erik, "We’re going to Rustic Hearth Cafe for lunch. Mr. Brown, would you like to join us?"

Rustic Hearth Cafe? That pricey place!

Erik glanced at Randall, knowing they were just being polite, so he declined. "No, you go ahead. Randall, don’t be late for work this afternoon."

He waved and turned to the elevator.

The three of them, along with Teddy who kept his eyes on the takeout bag, left together.

Randall didn’t bring the takeout to the car, causing Teddy to cry again. But once they reached Rustic Hearth Cafe and saw the new food, he stopped crying and drooled.

At Rustic Hearth Cafe, Vera asked, "What’s up with your manager?" Normally, Randall was very reluctant to introduce her and Molly, but today he not only introduced them but also mentioned Sebastian’s police job.

This made them curious.

Randall knew the man’s nature, having seen it many times, so he wasn’t surprised. "He probably found you two attractive and couldn’t help but talk. There are hardly any women in our company. They leave after a few days."

Molly asked, "Then why do you stay here?"

Randall replied, "I’m not staying because of him. His character is bad, but the company is decent. At least here, I can stabilize a bit."

Randall’s goals were clear, and other factors wouldn’t affect his progress.

Moreover, it wasn’t too busy here, giving him time to study.

He treated colleagues as just colleagues, not close friends.

Among roommates, some had close relationships and went out together often, but it didn’t stop the high turnover.

Some people moved out, and new ones moved in.

He always maintained a distance, making it hard for others to understand him or guess his thoughts.

Erik went to the company, stood at Randall’s workstation, and looked at the neatly arranged desk, a few bottles of delicate hydroponic plants, a cactus, and a photo of his girlfriend. Randall’s desk was always clean, and his work was impeccable.

"Mr. Brown, you’re here early today."

Usually, the bosses were out socializing, only visiting the company occasionally.

Erik nodded. "Cody, who has a good relationship with Randall in the company?"

The employee Cody shook his head. "Not sure. He arrives on time and leaves on time, doesn’t seem close to anyone. Why do you ask, Mr. Brown?"

"Just curious."

Cody stood there and added, "I heard that lately, female colleagues from other companies in the building have been asking about Randall."
