Chapter 794 Admittance
In the evening, at a small, unassuming roadside shop, Marigold and Sebastian sat across from each other. "So, Mia's a senior in college this year, right?"
Sebastian nodded and said, "Yeah, starting her senior year."
"Why didn't she come to pick you up? She used to come to our school to pick you up whenever she had a bit of free time."
Sebastian replied, "She's grown up now. She's interning at my mom's company, busier than I am."
Marigold glanced at the ring on Sebastian's hand. "I didn't expect you to get married so quickly. I heard it's Patrick's sister. What's her name?"
Sebastian looked at his wedding ring and twisted it slightly. "Molly."
Marigold gave a bitter smile. "Sebastian, I don't mean anything by this. I'm just really curious. How did your wife win your heart and make you transfer your love from Mia to her? I chased you for over a year, and we were together for two months, but I never held a place in your heart, let alone surpass Mia. Why could she?"
Sebastian noticed the tears in Marigold's eyes and spoke slowly, "No one can surpass her place. The Molly I married is the 'Mia Chase' from back then."
"What? You really... you..." Marigold was stunned.
When she was dating Sebastian, she knew he cared for his sister more than a brother should. She had her suspicions, which were later confirmed.
She always thought their forbidden love wouldn't last, but she never expected Sebastian to actually marry his sister.
"My biological sister died when she was five. I found Molly by the seaside. My mom was traumatized, so she had Molly live under my sister's name, 'Mia Chase.' Her real name is 'Molly.'"
"So you knew from the start she wasn't your biological sister? That's why you dared to love her so openly?"
Sebastian nodded.
He had always treated Molly as his sister, not knowing when his feelings changed. By the time he realized, it was too late.
At that time, a girl was pursuing him, and everyone around them was trying to set them up. He agreed, hoping for a change.
The girl pursuing him was the woman in front of him, Marigold.
After being together for a while, Sebastian eventually broke up with her. "Marigold, I'm sorry for wasting two months of your time. We're not suitable for each other."
Others couldn't tell, but Marigold, being close to Sebastian during that time, knew he had someone special in his heart.
Sometimes, she would sneak into his classroom, and whenever she accidentally bumped into him, he would intentionally avoid her. Even when calling her name, others would call her "Marigold," but he would use her full name, more distant than a classmate.
She thought it was because they weren't familiar yet or that Sebastian was shy. But when she saw the girl running towards him, his eyes lit up with a smile.
"Sebastian, I heard there's a new BBQ place near your school. Come with me. If you don't, I'll go with Vera and Randall."
Sebastian doted on her, "I've spent all my allowance on you."
Mia hugged Sebastian's arm and grinned, "Hey, I didn't make you spend money on me. You did that all on your own."
When Mia noticed Marigold, she was taken aback. "Whoa, who's this gorgeous lady? Sebastian, is she my sister-in-law?"
Sebastian immediately flicked Mia's forehead, making her cover her head and shout, "Sebastian, I'm not eating anymore. I'm going home to tell Mom you hit me. You almost knocked my head off."
Sebastian laughed heartily, "If your head's gone, whose pig head is on your neck?"
Mia shot back, "I'll tell Mom and Dad you called them pigs too." She always dragged Sebastian into her complaints.
She stormed off, and Sebastian's smile lingered as he said to Marigold, "I gotta go. You should head back to the dorm."
Marigold didn't go back to the dorm. She followed and saw Sebastian patiently and gently comforting his sister.
They went into the BBQ place together.
Marigold saw several times how differently he treated that girl. "Sebastian, if you weren't Molly's brother, I probably could never catch up to you."
Sebastian glanced at her but said nothing.
A few times, Marigold intentionally mentioned Mia in their conversations, and Sebastian would talk more.
When they broke up, she directly confronted him, "It's not because we're not suitable. It's because you like Mia."
"Marigold!"
"You like Mia, Sebastian. Stop hiding it. You like her."
Sebastian was hit in the heart. "Our breakup has nothing to do with her. Even if I didn't like her, we wouldn't last."
Marigold looked at Sebastian on the track field, tears streaming down her face. "I was blind."
She ran off and never interacted with Sebastian again.
To this day, Marigold found it all very ironic.
"So you were always helping her find her family and then married her?"
Sebastian shook his head. "I was afraid she couldn't handle it, so I let her live as my sister. I planned to tell her the truth when she was older. A few years ago, the Olteran family found her and took her back. That gave me a chance to marry her."
"I should have seen it. She liked you, too."
Sebastian was silent.
After a long pause, he admitted, "Maybe."
Marigold took a deep breath. "When I first heard you got married, I was shocked. I really wanted to know who you fell for. I didn't expect it to be her."
"Who told you? If it were classmates, they would have gossiped about me marrying my sister."
"It wasn't classmates. Someone who attended your wedding mentioned it."
They didn't touch their dinner, and Molly called, "Sebastian, where are you? The meeting's over, and you're not home yet?"
Sebastian asked, "Are you home?"
Molly replied, "I wanted to surprise you, but you missed out."
"I'll be home soon. Wait for me."
After hanging up, Marigold stood up and said, "Go have dinner with Molly. I got the answers I needed. I'm leaving."
Soon after, Sebastian saw Marigold leave in a cab.
He turned, got in his car, and drove home.
As soon as he arrived, Molly came out to interrogate him. "Did you think your wife wasn't coming home tonight, so you went out to have fun?"
