Chapter 751 Randall's Thoughts
Randall listened to the voice on the other end, trying not to grin. Once the call connected, he said, "Hey, this is Randall from room 2308. This girl is my girlfriend. Can you give her a room key?"
Susan took the spare key to Randall's room and said to the front desk, "See, I told you I was his girlfriend, but you didn't believe me."
She happily returned to wait for Randall.
Around eleven, Randall finished his work in the car, closed his laptop, and headed back.
"Randall, come here! I made you some noodles. They're way better than the ones you get outside," Susan said, beaming as Randall started eating. "I also bought you some whole wheat bread on the way, and I brought two jars of the jam I made. If you don't feel like going downstairs for breakfast, you can have bread and jam."
Randall sat down, placing his laptop on the bed. "How's your prep for the afternoon exam going?"
"Don't worry, I won't be cheating this time."
Randall handed Susan a fork. "Let's eat together."
"Randall, did you go for another interview?"
Randall nodded, and Susan didn't dare ask about the result.
Randall said, "This company isn't right either."
Susan thought Randall was discouraged by another failed interview and encouraged him, "There are millions of companies out there. Someone will recognize your talent."
Randall asked while eating, "You don't mind that your Randall can't find a job?"
Susan shook her head immediately. "Randall, I won't pressure you. I know you're trying hard and not giving up."
Soon, Randall's phone rang. He answered, "Hello."
"Is this Randall who interviewed this morning?"
"Yeah, it's me."
Randall wiped his mouth with a tissue. "Thanks. I'll need to think about the start date and get back to you by six tonight."
Susan looked at Randall excitedly. "Does this mean you got the job?"
After hanging up, Susan clapped her hands in excitement. "Randall, congrats! Which company is it?"
Randall put down his phone. "The one I interviewed with this morning. But don't congratulate me yet; this company isn't right."
Susan was puzzled. "But you passed the interview. Why isn't it right?"
Randall explained, "It's not that I didn't pass the interview. It's that the company isn't worth joining."
Susan still didn't understand.
Randall used his fork to pick up a piece of meat and fed it to Susan.
She opened her mouth and ate it, then realized there were only two pieces of meat in the dish. "Randall, that was for you."
Randall scooped some soup and fed it to Susan. "If I can't learn anything there, why should I go?"
Susan's mind started working. "Randall, have you passed other interviews but didn't take the jobs?"
Randall smiled. "Looks like you're catching on."
"Why?!" Susan was full of questions.
Randall fed her another piece of meat. "Silly, eat more meat to boost your brainpower and figure it out."
Susan opened her mouth and ate the meat.
Later, while Randall was looking up information on his computer, Susan suddenly said, "Randall, are you looking for a company that's already well-established, not to learn technical skills, but to gain experience in running a successful business?"
Randall leaned back in his chair and looked at Susan. "Come here, Susan, let's talk."
"Did I guess wrong?"
Patrick had also guessed Randall's intentions. If Randall wanted to start his own business, he could have impulsively registered a company, hired people, and started right away. He wasn't worried about the technical side; he lacked experience.
The company Randall wanted could have low pay, long hours, and hard work, but it had to be stable and well-run. He wasn't there to learn technical skills but to gain experience.
So Randall was picky, looking for companies without too many restrictions. Big companies had high requirements, and Randall couldn't get in, so he focused on those with fewer restrictions, making him busier.
Randall also realized that big corporations might not offer what he wanted to learn. Small to medium-sized companies had their problems but also their strengths, which he wanted to learn from.
Randall lifted Susan's chin. "Tell me, when did you learn to read minds, especially mine?"
"Randall, did I guess right?"
Susan happily hugged Randall. "I know you best."
Randall asked, "Do you want a reward?"
"Randall, don't ruin the moment by asking if I want a kiss."
Randall was speechless.
At noon, Susan kept talking while eating at Randall's place. After filling her stomach, Randall took her to her exam. "Randall, what are you doing this afternoon?"
"Job hunting. My work situation is unstable, and I'm in the red. Money isn't everything, but you can't do without it."
Susan nodded and quickly left.
At school, Susan saw Vera, who had just finished an exam and was secretly eating ice cream. "Vera!"
"You scared me!" Vera quickly hid the ice cream behind her back, then, seeing it was Susan, she brought it out again. "Where's your boyfriend?"
"Randall's job hunting."
Vera offered her half-eaten ice cream to Susan. "Want some?"
Susan shook her head. "Vera, eating ice cream before an afternoon exam, won't you..."
"Shut up!"
Susan pressed her lips together, afraid to say more in case it came true.
"Vera, are you done breastfeeding?"
"Still going. But I can eat whatever I want now. By the way, Susan, don't tell Patrick you caught me eating ice cream."
Susan obediently nodded and sat next to Vera.
"Vera, where's Teddy today?"
At the fifth baby store.
Four men skipped lunch to take a teary-eyed Teddy shopping.
Joshua held Teddy, Scott squeezed a squeaky duck to keep Teddy entertained, and Ian held up a green-trimmed white onesie. "This looks cool for summer. Let's get it for Teddy."
"Try it on first. If it's too small, Teddy can't wear it."
The sales assistant watched the four handsome men and the adorable child.
