Chapter 812 Subconscious Expression of Surprise
Patrick finally had some free time, so he took his wife and kids to visit the Linister family.
When Molly got home, Sebastian was just heading out to work.
"Hey, Sebastian, got a busy day ahead?"
Sebastian replied without missing a beat, "If you wanna tag along, just hop in the car."
Molly opened the passenger door and got in. Sebastian asked, "Why are you up so early today?"
"Teddy slept with me last night. I was worried he'd pull my hair again, so I woke up at five."
Sebastian noticed she seemed different. "I got pizza for you last night, but you weren't home. It's in the fridge."
"Oh, thanks."
Sebastian couldn't figure out what had happened yesterday, so he said, "I was planning to pick you up from the team today. Last night, I wanted to pick you up, but Mom thought you and the Olteran family needed some time together, so she didn't let me."
Molly was surprised. "Mom didn't let you pick me up?"
Sebastian nodded. "Yeah, what's up? Did you want me to pick you up?"
Molly shook her head. "No, it's fine."
When they arrived at the team, Sebastian went straight to the office to grab some files. He was supposed to have the day off.
Because of Molly's work schedule, he usually kept his weekends free to spend more time with her.
Today, something came up, and his boss called to ask about a case, so he decided to go in person. It had been a while since he saw his mentor, and it was a good opportunity to bring his wife along.
Sebastian went to the team, and Molly wandered around the courtyard alone. Familiar faces greeted her, "Molly, good morning! Why are you here so early today?"
Makayla also appeared in the courtyard. "Molly, it's rare to see you up early!"
Her reputation in the team was thoroughly destroyed by Sebastian.
After the forensic doctor, Marigold, joined the team. The two exchanged glances, and Molly forgot to respond to the forensic doctor's comment.
"What are you looking at?" The forensic doctor shook her.
Molly was startled. "Huh?"
The forensic doctor reached out to feel her forehead. "No fever. Are you pregnant?"
Molly's hand immediately went to her stomach, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Makayla, how did you know I was pregnant?"
The forensic doctor was surprised. "Are you really pregnant?"
"Oh, you were just guessing?" Molly thought she was really pregnant.
The forensic doctor followed her own logic. "Oh my gosh, Molly, you're pregnant so soon."
Molly understood. "I'm not pregnant. I thought you figured it out."
The forensic doctor was disappointed. "I got excited for nothing."
Molly added, "I got excited for nothing, too."
Soon, Sebastian came out and saw the two chatting. He walked over and asked, "What are you talking about?"
The forensic doctor explained, "Just a mix-up. I thought Molly was pregnant."
Sebastian looked at Molly's lingering smile. "We're not there yet."
The morning was always busy.
Everyone dispersed, and Sebastian took Molly to visit his mentor. The forensic doctor returned to the office, hoping for a quiet day.
Marigold saw the team talking about Molly. She had been here for days and knew all about Molly's past and Sebastian's affection for her.
"If you ask who Mr. Chase's treasure is, even the homeless guy at the door knows it's Molly."
"Molly has given Mr. Chase plenty of headaches. When I talked to Sam next door, he said sometimes ten criminals don't give Mr. Chase as much trouble as Molly does. So, when a criminal is hard to crack, Mr. Chase is more patient than anyone. And Mr. Chase has tried all his tricks on Molly, and they always work."
The office laughed. "Is she a wife or a criminal?" Marigold joked.
The forensic doctor said, "Marigold, you came late, so you don't know Molly. Mr. Chase needs a few tricks to handle her."
Marigold thought of old times and nodded in agreement. "True."
Sebastian was teaching a class when Mia called, saying she was going to a fight because someone had bullied her friend. She wanted Sebastian to back her up, and if she couldn't win, Sebastian would be there. Sebastian had to take leave and rush to her school, where he sorted things out.
During lunch, Sebastian got a call from his parents asking for help. He didn't know what Mia had done at home, so he went back.
Using Sebastian's card, she went on a shopping spree. Sebastian received a string of text messages, making him worried. He called her angrily from the student council meeting table, "Mia, what did you do?"
He didn't know what she said, but he threatened, "I'll deal with you when I get home."
Marigold smiled and continued working.
The conversation stopped, and everyone got busy.
In the afternoon, Vera was in her bedroom, calling her sisters to ask about things.
Teddy was sleeping beside her.
"Did you clear up the misunderstanding with Sebastian last night?"
"Vera, I told you, Sebastian was definitely coming to pick me up. But when he was about to leave, Mom didn't let him, saying she wanted to give us the Olteran family some time alone. Hispicking me up every day made it look like he was competing with the Olteran family for me."
Vera said, "Ellie is overthinking. Dad really wants you back in the Chase family."
Molly replied, "Just keep that in mind and don't say it out loud. How's Teddy?"
"Sleeping next to me. Why is it so noisy over there?"
"Oh, Sebastian is shopping with me. I'm in the bathroom, and he's waiting outside. The noise is from the hairdryer."
After chatting for a while, Brianna knocked on the door, and Vera hung up.
Molly came out of the bathroom, stretched her arm, and Sebastian opened his arm for her to naturally wrap around.
In the afternoon, Sebastian went to the team to deliver some files.
The world is small, and some people you want to avoid can't be avoided. Molly ran into Marigold again, who asked, "Didn't bring the kids today?"
Molly replied, "No."
Marigold nodded. "The kids look a lot like you."
Molly thought, of course, Teddy would look a bit like her since they were related.
When Sebastian was out, Molly stood alone by the car. "Why are you standing by the car so obediently today?"
Molly asked, "Am I usually not obedient?"
"What do you think?"
On the way home, Molly asked in the car, "Sebastian, your new colleague next door, have I met her before?"
Sebastian turned to look at Molly and continued driving. "Why do you suddenly ask?"
"She looks familiar." Molly said, observing Sebastian's expression.
Sebastian glanced at the rearview mirror but didn't look back at Molly.
Molly had only met her once or twice, and it had been so long that Sebastian thought Molly might have forgotten what she looked like.
