Chapter 732 Watching the Fight Seriously

Shawn hobbled over to the trash can, leaning on his cane, and eyed the discarded takeout boxes. "You should eat at home more often. Always ordering takeout, you'll never grow tall."

"Grandpa, I'm already taller than you."

Shawn's face turned red with anger.

Randall wasn't done. "In our family, only Teddy is shorter than you. The rest of us are all taller."

A brief silence filled the room.

Then, Shawn pointed his cane at Randall. "Just wait, I'm gonna give you a good whack today."

When Randall wasn't around, Shawn worried about him constantly.

When Randall was around, Shawn was so annoyed he wanted to smack him.

Susan sighed, shaking her head as she held Teddy's hand. Even she had gotten used to Randall's antics.

Molly and Vera ignored the brewing fight and started chatting. "Vera, let's go shopping tomorrow. The holidays are coming up, and we need some cute outfits for going out."

"Sure, I want to buy a short skirt this year, but Patrick will probably throw it out. I'll have to buy it secretly."

Meanwhile, Teddy was the only one who turned his head, watching the fight intently.

Even when Randall ran to the bathroom, Teddy craned his neck to keep watching Randall get chased.

His crystal-clear eyes were filled with fascination.

As the cane landed on Randall's back, Teddy's little fists clenched in excitement, his mouth forming an "o," his chubby body trembling with enthusiasm.

After a bit of exercise, Shawn pointed at Randall and warned, "Watch your mouth. You're starting a business now, and I can shut you down."

Randall shot back, "You better watch out, or I'll report you for market manipulation and get you thrown in jail."

"Ungrateful grandson!"

"Try it. My son is the mayor, my son-in-law is a cop, and I have another son who's even more powerful. Let's see who dares to arrest me."

"Then I'll report you for abusing power and get your whole family taken down."

"That's it, I'm gonna beat you to death!"

Ten minutes later, Vera looked at Shawn and Randall, both resting on the couch. "Who won the first round?"

Randall, having washed his face, said, "Grandpa had a weapon, his cane. It's not a fair win."

"You're a young man fighting an old man with a bad leg. If I didn't use a weapon, would you feel good about that?"

Molly chimed in, "You two should let Vera show you what a real fight looks like."

Shawn pointed at Vera, who was holding Teddy. "If she dares to fight, I'll tell her husband."

Randall taunted, "I've never seen a father-in-law like you, always stirring up trouble between your son and daughter-in-law."

Shawn huffed, "Have you seen Vera fight? If she gets involved, there won't be any room for us."

"True."

Vera modestly said, "I'm trying to set a good example for my son lately. No more fighting, just being a gentle mom."

It seemed like nothing had changed. Whenever they met, there were always clashes and lively arguments.

Only Susan remained silent, scrolling on her phone.

Randall's gaze shifted to Susan. "What are you up to?"

"Ordering food," Susan replied.

She sat next to Randall, showing him her phone. "Look, Randall, I ordered fish and chips, some barbecue, roast chicken, shrimp, and steak. What else should we get?"

Randall raised an eyebrow. "Are veggies too expensive these days? Can't we afford them?"

Susan rolled her eyes. Randall was teasing her for ordering all meat.

So, Susan added some vegetables. "Broccoli, celery with lily bulbs. Happy now, Randall?"

Molly chimed in, "Susan, you forgot to order soup."

So, Susan added some chicken soup to the order.

After placing orders from four different restaurants, she put down her phone with a satisfied smile.

Shawn started to look forward to the meal.

Teddy, who hadn't slept well in the morning and had been kept awake by Vera, was now tired after crying. Vera gently coaxed him to sleep in her arms.

"Teddy, sleep in Randall's bed tonight and make it all stinky," Vera said, placing Teddy in Randall's bed.

As Teddy slept, he looked incredibly cute, nestled in Randall's white sheets.

The small lump in the bed melted Randall's heart.

While Teddy slept, Randall sneaked in a couple of kisses. "Who says you stink? You smell great to me."

Susan quickly joined in, sniffing and stealing a kiss. "Vera, Teddy smells so good, like milk. He's not stinky at all."

The two of them admired Teddy, completely smitten.

Soon, the takeout arrived. Randall asked the delivery person for a few extra chairs, and everyone gathered around the table to eat. No one asked Randall about his plans or what he wanted to do.

Just like before, they chatted and joked during the meal.

But their voices were low, afraid of waking Teddy, whose cries could fill the house.

After lunch, Shawn, full and sleepy, lay down next to Teddy to nap.

The four of them sat at the table, eating and chatting, gradually getting to the main topic.

Vera said, "Staying in a hotel isn't a long-term solution. The daily rate is expensive, and you can't cook. Ordering takeout every day is costly too."

Randall replied, "I was looking at apartments, but then my parents came and extended my hotel stay for another month. They wouldn't refund the money, so I have to stay there for now. I'll keep looking for a place and start job hunting. I've been sending out resumes."

Susan yawned, resting her head on the table.

Molly glanced at Susan but said nothing, continuing to look at Randall. "Are you planning to work first and then study?"

"I'll gain experience while studying."

Vera didn't press for details, knowing Randall had a plan and wasn't too worried.

"How's Patrick doing?" Randall asked.

Vera replied, "He's either annoyed by me or by Teddy. He's so busy he doesn't have time to think about you."

Molly was curious. "Weren't you two fighting over who gets to kiss Patrick every day? How did that turn into annoyance?"

Vera said, "We still fight over kissing him. But it doesn't stop us from annoying him."
