Chapter 712 Molly Who Hasn't Shown Off Her Love Yet

"Whoever told you I'm going on blind dates, give me their number!" Randall's sharp tone made Susan shrink back, her voice barely a whisper as she replied, "It was my dad."

Randall was speechless.

The car was silent for a few minutes. Randall's anger simmered with no outlet. As he started the car, he muttered, "I'm not going on any blind dates."

Later, Randall called Molly to ask about a restaurant.

Molly eagerly shared the latest place she and Sebastian had visited. "They give roses to couples at the table, and you can take them home after dinner. Make sure to give one to Susan. Sebastian and I..."

Randall hung up before she could finish.

Molly slammed her phone down in frustration. "What a jerk! I wasn't even done bragging."

At the restaurant, Randall parked the car and took Susan's hand, leading her inside. "Let's eat. You're coming to the office with me tonight."

Susan never seemed able to refuse Randall.

She obediently followed him in. Randall grabbed a rose from the table and forcefully stuffed it into Susan's backpack. "Take it."

Susan was speechless.

She didn't dare bring up the topic of moving out again. It seemed to make Randall very unhappy.

That evening, Susan accompanied Randall to the office. She sat quietly beside him, more silent than usual.

Patrick had already left with Teddy. Apparently, Teddy had cried again when they were leaving, and everyone saw Patrick's gentle attempts to soothe him. But Teddy, stubborn as ever, kept crying despite Patrick's efforts.

Randall and Susan were too preoccupied with their own thoughts to be curious about Teddy's latest tantrum.

When Randall drove Susan home, it was late. Under the moonlight, he turned off the car and said to Susan, who was about to get out, "You're not moving out. Don't worry about anything else."

Susan nodded and slowly went to her room.

That night, the light in Randall's room stayed on until late. He just sat there, staring at the books on his desk and the black screen of his computer, lost in thought.

Susan sat by her window, the cool summer night breeze calming her. She leaned against the window, looking towards Randall's room, thinking about what Ulysses had said to her earlier. "Your dad wants to get you a driver to take you to and from school. If you're worried about safety, he'll hire a bodyguard too. If you feel lonely, your mom and I will take turns staying with you. You're an adult now, and it's not appropriate for you to live with the Olteran family."

Susan felt a knot in her chest when she heard Ulysses' words. It hurt even more when she told Randall.

"Randall, do you really not know what I'm thinking, or are you just pretending not to?" Susan whispered, feeling wronged. She didn't know how to pursue a guy.

Later, Randall's light went out, but he didn't go to bed. He just sat there, eyes closed, head tilted back.

The next day, Patrick drove both Vera and Susan to school.

In the car, Vera did all the talking. Teddy, now quite the handful, insisted on standing on Vera's lap to look out the windshield. When he got tired, he cried to be held.

In the summer heat, Patrick had to open the sunroof to keep Teddy entertained.

Vera, holding the babbling Teddy, complained the whole way. "He doesn't sleep at night, wakes up early, and I can't even turn over when he's in my arms. All he does is cry, eat, and throw tantrums, yet everyone loves him. I just want to give him a good spanking."

Teddy, nestled in Vera's arms, thought she was praising him and smiled happily.

After dropping them off, Teddy pouted as Vera left, and she had to kiss him twice before he let her go.

Before leaving, Vera leaned into the front seat and quickly kissed Patrick on the cheek before running off.

Patrick watched her through the window, smiling happily. "See you after school."

Susan, watching with envy, said, "Vera, Patrick really likes you."

Vera replied, "Randall likes you too."

Susan usually blushed at this, but today her eyes showed a hint of sadness. Walking along, she pouted, "Randall doesn't like me."

Vera put an arm around Susan's shoulders. "Don't overlook a man who picks you up and drops you off every day, especially when he's busy with work. If you didn't matter to him, why would he go to all that trouble?"

Susan didn't respond.

At the classroom door, they parted ways.

At the office, Patrick saw Randall working. Teddy, excited to see Randall, ran over.

Randall opened his arms. "Want a hug?"

Teddy eagerly went to him.

The secretaries enjoyed watching Teddy with Randall.

Later, Teddy fell asleep in Randall's arms. When Randall took him back to Patrick, he said, "Uncle Patrick, if you believe in my abilities, make my position permanent."

Patrick looked up, surprised but not showing it. "Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"HR will issue the notice this afternoon. Be ready."

Randall nodded and left.

In the end, Randall gave in.

That afternoon, instead of going to a colleague's gathering, Randall drove to the university to pick up Susan. "Has your dad contacted you?"

Susan shook her head. "No. But Randall, I think my dad has a point. Vera lives in Cherry Villa, Molly married into the Chase family, and if I'm the only outsider living with the Olteran family, people will misunderstand."

Randall replied, "Let them misunderstand. Maybe one day, their misunderstanding will become reality."

"Randall."

"Susan, I got promoted today. Will you celebrate with me?"

Susan's mood lifted. "Did you become the CEO?"

Randall laughed at her naivety. "Do you think I could take Patrick's job? I got a permanent position. I was a junior secretary, now I'm the head secretary. Becoming the CEO is still a long way off. I have to outlast Patrick to take his place."

Susan asked, "What about grad school?"

"I'm not going. I'll let that fish go and keep it as a pet." Randall looked at the scenery and asked Susan, "Do you want some cake?"

Susan replied, "I'll go wherever you want to go."

Randall said, "I want to drink. Can you handle that?"

Susan said, "I can drink beer, but not wine."

"Let's go then."

Randall drove to a supermarket, bought a pack of beer, and put it in the trunk. He also bought a lot of snacks for Susan and then drove towards the city hilltop.
