Chapter 781 Being Worshipped and Loved by Mother and Son
Ice skating has a lot of unpredictable elements, and Susan kept her head down, watching her feet, like a newbie cyclist who can't stop staring at the wheels.
Later, Randall stood there, and Susan crashed into him again.
"Lift your head and watch me skate. That's how you'll learn."
Susan's childhood memories were hazy, but she still remembered the time she pushed Randall into the pool. She was worried history might repeat itself. "Randall, I'm scared. I don't want to knock you over. If I fall, you might fall too."
Randall sighed, holding Susan's waist and guiding her to the railing for a pep talk. "Watch me skate. For every stretch you skate, I'll give you a kiss."
Susan was speechless.
Around 4 PM, Vera tore a piece of paper and folded it into a fan to cool herself and Teddy. Teddy, impressed by Vera's handiwork, reached out to grab it. "Hey, you little rascal, keep your hands to yourself."
At first, Vera chatted with everyone like an adult. But her excitement was uncontainable when she saw Patrick catching a fish. "Honey, a big fish!"
Teddy's eyes widened in admiration as Patrick lifted the fishing rod. He was in awe and wanted Patrick to hold him. "Patrick!"
The onlookers, seeing Patrick's catch, immediately flattered him. "Looks like Mr. Olteran's talk about tech development has a bright future. Even the heavens are giving a sign."
Patrick, used to such scenes, remained calm and composed. However, seeing his wife and child's excitement, he couldn't help but feel a bit proud.
He placed the fish in a bucket, and both mother and son squatted beside it, their hands on the bucket's edge, peering inside. "Honey, you're amazing! Teddy and I love you so much."
Vera's love was as warm and direct as a summer day, and even Patrick's calm demeanor cracked with happiness. He moved the bucket to a cooler spot. "You two have fun."
Vera pulled up a chair and sat with Teddy, watching the fish. "Teddy, look, the fish is blowing bubbles. Isn't your dad amazing?"
Teddy was so excited he almost drooled into the bucket. Vera quickly wiped his mouth. "Aren't you embarrassed?"
Others chatted with Patrick. "Mrs. Olteran really admires Mr. Olteran. Her words are full of love for him."
Patrick baited the hook again and cast it back into the lake. The small daily joys of family life made him want to share. "They love sticking with me. Vera and Teddy both. When I get home from work, Teddy covers my face with kisses. If I don't let him, he throws a fit."
Hearing the commotion from the bow, three women who had been cooling off in the cabin came out to take pictures of the big fish and post them on social media.
Posting about Patrick's big catch would indirectly tell everyone on social media that they had dined with Patrick, boosting their status.
Meanwhile, the mother and son duo seriously planned how to cook the fish for dinner.
"Honey, catch another one. This one isn't enough," Vera pleaded.
Patrick turned to look at his wife and son, his eyes full of affection and amusement. "Hungry already?"
"Not yet, but who knows in a bit?"
Fishing requires patience. They were amateurs, enjoying the relaxation. Even if they didn't catch more, there were always fish in the cabin.
"Mr. Olteran, you're thirty this year, right?"
Patrick smiled. "Age is just a number. Teddy's almost three, and I'll be thirty this year."
"Your generation marries late. I was a dad at twenty-three and have been out in the world for years."
Vera watched the fish for a while, then handed Teddy to Patrick. "Hold him. I'm going to make a bottle."
Patrick held Teddy, and someone asked, "What's Vincent up to? Is he busy lately?"
"Vincent and my dad are the busiest at home, always fighting to hold Teddy."
Soon, Vera returned, took the yawning Teddy, and went to the cabin to feed him and put him to sleep.
At the ice rink, Randall took the opportunity to hold Susan several times while teaching her.
Molly and Sebastian's shopping trip felt like a date. She held his arm as they entered a store, browsed, and left. Since Molly was a regular, many salespeople recognized them.
Initially, the salespeople thought they were a couple. Later, they learned they were siblings.
Then, they were surprised to find out the siblings had become a couple.
"Sebastian, do you like these heels?" Molly asked, holding up a pair.
Sebastian replied, "Don't you already have a pair like those at home?"
"Do I? I don't remember."
Sebastian nodded. "You do. I'll find them for you when we get back."
Molly put the shoes down and continued to hold Sebastian's arm, leisurely browsing the cool mall.
"Has anyone recommended an online investment platform to you and Mom recently?"
Molly thought for a moment. "I think a shareholder mentioned it to Mom, wanting us to invest. Why, bro?"
Sebastian warned, "Someone reported them for fraud. You and Mom should stay away from these shady companies."
"We haven't invested. Mom and I know your line of work is special. When that shareholder brought the proposal, Mom didn't even look at it and refused. She said our company doesn't deal with those sectors, and one wrong step could lead to disaster."
Molly suddenly remembered, "Oh, right! That shareholder brought the platform's CEO to meet Mom. After Mom refused, they tried to persuade her, saying a million-dollar investment would pay off in two quarters.
Mom said, 'It's not about the money. My son is Sebastian, the head of the financial crimes unit. Should I have him check it out first? If it's safe, I'll invest.'
The shareholder agreed, but soon after, they left in a hurry. Mom gave them a disdainful look as they left. I was having dinner with her and only now realize what she meant."
"Mom's seen it all and been through a lot. She can spot these tricks. That shareholder didn't know, so he dared to let me investigate. Learn from Mom, and you won't be fooled."
The couple continued to the next store, shopping.
In the evening, Molly returned to the Chase family home, and the topic of the investment came up again at dinner.
On the boat, Vera enjoyed her meal, eager to eat fish. Since Patrick caught the biggest one, and he was the most impressive person there, everyone joked that Vera should decide how to cook it.
