Chapter 725 Mr. Olteran Has No Temper
"Come on, let's go meet your dad together. I knew he couldn't stay away from us," Vera said, holding the baby as she walked to the front door. Teddy, excited, reached out to push the door open. Just as his little hand touched the door, it swung open, and Teddy, thinking he had done it himself, was over the moon.
Patrick had just turned off the car and, through the windshield, saw Vera holding Teddy, both of them beaming at him from the doorway.
Teddy was thrilled to see the car and even more excited when Patrick stepped out.
The little boy squirmed in Vera's arms, trying to get closer to Patrick.
Patrick parked the car and, with a stern expression, walked towards Vera.
He wasn't happy, but he couldn't stay away. Patrick was caught in Vera's web.
As soon as he got close, Teddy was practically bursting with excitement, eager for Patrick to hold him, his eyes following Patrick's every move.
Patrick reached out and scooped up the soft, cuddly Teddy. Before he could say anything, Vera, with a big smile, greeted him, "Patrick, you're back."
"You..."
Vera stood on her tiptoes and kissed Patrick on the lips, cutting off whatever he was about to say.
Teddy, in Patrick's arms, looked at Vera with a puzzled expression, his big eyes full of confusion as he watched his mom kiss his dad.
"Brave..."
Patrick started to speak again, but Vera once more stood on her tiptoes, wrapped her arms around Patrick's neck, and kissed him. Seeing this, Teddy leaned in to give Patrick a kiss too, his mouth full of drool landing on Patrick's face.
Vera gently pushed Teddy's face away, "You go over there. This is my husband, only I can kiss him."
But Teddy wasn't one to listen. His little hands clung to Patrick's suit jacket, and with a mouth full of drool, he tried to kiss his parents' lips, wanting to join in.
Patrick stood there, his anger at coming home now completely replaced by happiness.
"Teddy, watch Mommy. Kiss Daddy's cheek like this." Vera demonstrated by kissing Patrick on the cheek, encouraging Teddy to follow her lead.
Seeing that Vera wasn't kissing Patrick on the lips anymore, Teddy finally saw his chance. He opened his mouth and lunged for Patrick's lips, ignoring Vera's instructions.
Patrick quickly turned his face, and Teddy's drool smeared across his cheek. "Kiss Daddy's cheek," Patrick said, kissing Teddy's chubby, soft cheek. "Like this. Only Mommy can kiss Daddy on the lips."
Teddy started to cry, insisting on kissing as Vera did.
So, Vera held him and gave him a little spanking, establishing her authority, and was finally satisfied.
Later, when Teddy cried again, Vera video-called Shawn, showing him Teddy's tear-streaked face.
As soon as the video connected and Shawn saw the crying face, he hung up without a word.
Vera laughed, and Teddy cried harder.
Patrick, who had come home intending to give Vera a piece of his mind, was now completely disarmed by their kisses. "Next time, give me a heads-up."
"Patrick, it sounds like you're looking forward to next time," Vera said, clinging to his arm with a sweet smile.
"Not looking forward to it, just knowing you well." With so many days ahead, who knows when Vera might take Teddy somewhere and ignore him again?
Entering the living room, Patrick felt the comfort of being home wash over him. He sank into the couch, his lovely wife snuggling up on his left and Teddy climbing up on his right. Being the center of attention for both of them, Patrick's heart was full.
Patrick wanted to talk about Randall, but he decided to let it go. Randall had disappeared for another day.
Earlier that day, Jack had approached Patrick with concern. "Mr. Olteran, Randall hasn't come to the office today. Did he take a leave?"
Patrick, frustrated, snapped, "Tell him to pack his things and leave."
Jack hesitated, then pulled out Randall's new ID badge. "Mr. Olteran, it's nothing. Randall's new badge is ready. I went to give it to him, but he wasn't there, so I brought it back."
Patrick glanced at Randall's photo. "Leave it with me."
Jack quickly left after putting down the badge.
Not long after, the head of security came to Patrick's office.
Meanwhile, Susan had made up her mind. She called her parents from school, "Mom, Dad, I have three things to tell you. First, I'm dating Randall. Second, I fought with Uncle Patrick. Third, even if Randall doesn't want to take over the company, I still want to be with him."
There was a moment of silence on the other end. Just as Susan's heart was pounding with anxiety, Ulysses spoke, "Which uncle?" Ignoring the first and third points, Ulysses fixated on the second.
Sadie, beside him, pinched Ulysses, "Is the second point the most important?"
"It's the one you're afraid of, Patrick," Susan continued.
This time, Sadie also fell silent.
The couple, who didn't dare raise their voices to Patrick, were stunned that their daughter had the guts to argue with him.
"Were you scared when you fought?" Ulysses asked Susan awkwardly.
Susan frowned, puzzled that her father wasn't concerned about her relationship.
"I was scared," she admitted, "but I couldn't back down."
Ulysses felt that this was the right attitude.
Then he turned his attention to the third point, "Why doesn't Randall want to take over the company?"
"Because Randall wants to do something else. Dad, I know what kind of person you want me to marry in the future. I'll study hard and take over the company myself. Don't pin our family's hopes on someone else."
After saying this, perhaps influenced by her time with Randall, Susan added, "Or you two are still young. Why not have another child to be the heir?"
Two people who didn't want to be heirs had ended up together.
Ulysses and Sadie, on the other end, started arguing with Susan about this.
Susan held the phone, quietly listening, "Mom, Dad, if you have another child, I'll help you take care of them."
The argument continued.
Susan listened to the noise, scratching her head.
At lunch, Vincent came to the Olteran Group to see Patrick privately. "Patrick, are you busy?"
Patrick replied, "Not busy."
He knew Vincent was there to discuss Randall, so he pushed back his original plans for lunch.
Vincent had visited the Olteran Group over a decade ago, but since then, he had avoided it as much as possible.
Sitting on Patrick's couch, he made himself a cup of coffee. After a while, Patrick finished his work and sat down across from Vincent.
