Chapter 824 Your Luck is Quite Good
As soon as Teddy saw Vera, he immediately dropped Patrick's tie and reached out to her with a pitiful expression, as if Patrick had been mistreating him. He looked so aggrieved.
Patrick loosened his tie, wrapped it up, and placed it in Vera's bag. "Hey, wanna grab lunch together?"
"Is it convenient?" Vera asked.
Patrick nodded.
At noon, Vera joined Patrick and a group of company executives for lunch.
Teddy had his own special snacks, munching on his little cookies, getting crumbs all over his face.
Molly and Vera hadn't been in touch for several days. When the family of three returned to the Olteran family, they saw Molly. Vera asked, "Why are you back?"
Molly replied, "Thanks to you."
She had told Sebastian that she loved him and wanted to have children. Excited, Sebastian didn't listen to her explanations and later said, "Having separate rooms and wanting kids aren't mutually exclusive. We can try for kids in the first half of the night and have separate rooms in the second half."
Molly had no choice but to come back.
"I haven't seen Randall in a while. Before Susan left, she promised to visit her boyfriend more often. When you have time, shall we go together?" Vera asked. "I also have a gift for Randall."
Molly asked, "What did you get him?"
Vera replied, "A leather jacket."
"Thanks on behalf of Randall. It's 102 degrees Fahrenheit outside today," Molly said. "What did you get me?"
"A down jacket."
Molly sighed, "Vera, it's a good thing you married Patrick. I'm the daughter of the Olteran family. If it weren't for family ties, I think we would have drifted apart long ago."
Talking about the previous misunderstanding, Vera asked, "So you found out it was Marigold who told Sebastian?"
Molly nodded, "Yeah, I was curious how she knew I mentioned divorce. I wanted to ask her when I went to the team, but then I heard from Makayla that Sebastian was swamped, so I focused on him and forgot to ask her. By the way, Vera, do you have any cash on you?"
Vera handed her wallet to Molly, "Why?"
"I want to see if you have any counterfeit bills."
Vera scoffed, "How could I have counterfeit bills?"
Molly examined a bill for a long time, "Vera, you seem to have some good luck."
Vera immediately leaned in.
In the afternoon, Sebastian, dressed in his police uniform, appeared at the Olteran Mansion with Sam. "Sebastian, Sebastian, look at this. Is it fake? We found it in Vera's wallet."
Teddy saw Sebastian in uniform and raised his hands for a hug.
Teddy seemed to remember Sebastian; he recognized him.
Sebastian's heart melted. He picked up Teddy, who he hadn't seen in days, and held him lovingly, wanting to chat with him, but urgent matters took priority.
Sebastian examined the bill and handed it to Sam. "Vera, where did you get this money?"
Vera was a bit nervous, "I think it was change from buying fruit at the market last time."
Sebastian nodded, "Don't worry. Do you remember which area it was?"
Vera scratched her head, trying to recall the name of the street but couldn't.
Knowing Vera well, Patrick said, "Don't think about the street. Think about the surrounding buildings." He knew Vera could only remember landmarks, not street names.
Talking about buildings, Vera found it easier, "There's a place on Sycamore Avenue with really good pasta that opens at 4 PM every day."
Everyone fell silent at her last sentence.
Molly said, "Sebastian, I remember that street. Next to the pasta place is a café I loved in high school. Their lattes are amazing. You used to complain about the sugar and wouldn't let me drink it, but I drank it secretly."
Vera nodded, "Yes, that's the place."
Shawn asked, "Vera, where exactly are you talking about?" He had no idea.
Patrick cleared his throat, bringing the conversation back on track.
With Molly's information, Sebastian remembered the place. He stood up and handed Teddy to Patrick. "We'll head back to the station to investigate." Before leaving, he looked at Molly, "I'm leaving. It's hot outside, don't wander around. Text me what you want to eat, and I'll bring it back tonight."
"Okay."
After Sebastian left, Shawn looked at Vera, "Vera, you really are our lucky star."
Molly nodded in agreement, "Sebastian has been investigating for days, and you found a clue on your first day back."
Vera suddenly felt aggrieved and pouted at Patrick, "Honey, the police took my $50 bill and don't seem to be planning to return it."
Patrick gave her a $100 bill to cheer her up.
Sebastian didn't go back to the station but went directly to the area Vera had mentioned to investigate.
Three days after Patrick returned, he received a call from Scott, "When are you coming back?"
Patrick was surprised, "You haven't left yet?"
Scott replied, "Don't tell me you came back and forgot about me!"
Patrick felt guilty.
Silence meant acknowledgment, and Scott's face showed a "friendly" smile.
Later, Scott went to the Olteran family to take their child.
Vera called Patrick, "Scott is here to take our kid. Should I fight him? I think I can win."
"Uh, Vera, let him take the kid," Patrick conceded.
So, a tearful Teddy sat in Scott's passenger seat.
He visited the police station again.
This time, Scott took him there voluntarily.
