Chapter 837 Teddy Kiss
Teddy's "kisses" usually meant him wrapping his tiny hands around Patrick's head and gnawing on him with his few teeth.
If anyone tried to stop him, he'd grab their hair and insist on getting his way.
Vera had been on the receiving end of Teddy's hair-pulling several times. She had no choice but to let him nibble on her face until he was satisfied.
Teddy's enthusiasm extended to Patrick as well. Wearing nothing but a diaper, Teddy grabbed Patrick's hair, drooling all over his face before finally letting go and adorably sticking out his tongue.
Patrick sighed. Teddy's fiery enthusiasm and stubbornness were traits he had clearly inherited, making it impossible for anyone to resist him.
By noon, Vera was exhausted and took Teddy to the break room for a nap.
But Teddy refused to sleep. When Vera tried to lay him down, he would sit up. When she held him, he would squirm.
Eventually, Vera was too tired, and since Teddy had learned to roll over, he could easily fall off the bed if left unattended.
Patrick came in, picked Teddy up, and sat him on his lap while he worked. Teddy held his bottle with both hands, staring at the computer screen.
After finishing his formula, Teddy yawned and sleepily lay his head on Patrick's desk. Vera loved to rub his round little head, and Patrick, influenced by his wife, gently rubbed it too. He cradled the drowsy Teddy, who could barely keep his eyes open, and patted his bottom to lull him to sleep.
Soon, Patrick took Teddy to the break room, placed him in the middle of the bed, and lay down beside him after removing his jacket.
The three of them napped together at the office.
Molly wasn't as fortunate. Upon arriving at the office, she rushed to Ellie's office. "Mom, what's going on with the warehouse?"
Ellie was on the phone, coordinating the situation. "First, make sure no one is hurt inside. Clear the vehicles on the road so the fire trucks can get through. I'll be there soon."
As they walked, Ellie explained to Molly, "There's a fire at the factory. It's pretty serious. Give me your car keys and go back to work."
"No way, I'm coming with you."
Ellie had urgently called for a car, saying there was an emergency, which is why Molly had driven straight to the MS Group instead of dropping off her sisters.
Now, Ellie didn't want Molly to take any risks and tried to stop her from going.
But Molly was determined. "That factory is important. I'm going with you."
"The fire is too big. You should go back."
As they exited the elevator, Molly followed Ellie to the car. "Wherever you go, I go. You want me to take over the company someday, right? If you think I can't handle a little danger, you might as well hand over the company now and let me run it into the ground."
Ellie sighed. "Fine, buckle up. I'm driving."
Ellie, who had faced many challenges in her youth, drove swiftly and skillfully, frequently changing lanes and taking side roads to get there quickly.
Molly watched in admiration, wishing she had half of Ellie's abilities.
When they arrived at the factory, the fire was still raging, and firefighters were already inside.
The person in charge quickly brought Ellie to the fire chief. "This is our boss, Ms. Chase."
Given the urgency, Ellie skipped the formalities. "There are seven pieces of equipment inside, worth over thirty million dollars. If the fire's too intense, prioritize the firefighters' safety!"
The fire chief nodded, appreciating her concern. "We'll do our best. Please step back."
Ellie pulled Molly back to the safety line.
Soon, the police arrived, as such a large fire had inevitably been reported.
Ernest and Marigold approached to meet with the boss and the person in charge.
When the four of them met, Ernest was shocked, Marigold was surprised, and Molly was confused. Only Ellie remained focused, communicating with the police.
"Molly, is this your family's factory?" Ernest asked, pointing.
Ellie looked at Molly curiously. "You know them?"
Molly nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed. "This is Sebastian's colleague, Ernest."
Ellie didn't remember at first, but Molly reminded her, "Ernest helped me when Abby tried to frame me."
Ellie immediately recalled. "Ernest, nice to meet you. The details will need to come from the on-site staff. I just got here myself."
A staff member approached, and Ernest and Marigold began questioning them about the incident.
Marigold took notes.
"We were on our lunch break, and there weren't many people in the factory. I was about to take a nap when I saw black smoke coming from the back. I rushed in and found thick smoke. Two workers were unconscious, so I pulled them out and called emergency services. They were taken away."
Marigold frowned. "There were people inside?"
"Yes, some people live far away and don't want to go home in the heat. The factory has air conditioning, so they sleep here."
Marigold continued taking notes, and Ernest asked, "When did the fire get worse?"
"When I went in to check the source, the fire suddenly grew. I called the fire department immediately."
Marigold was puzzled. "If no one was monitoring the equipment, could it have caught fire on its own?"
No one could answer that. Ernest glanced at Marigold. "What do you mean?"
Marigold shook her head. "Nothing, just curious."
They were trying to rule out arson.
Ellie and Molly stood aside. Soon, another water truck arrived, and they began spraying water.
Molly and Marigold ended up standing together.
"Marigold, do you think this fire was arson or accidental?" Molly asked.
Marigold, aware that Molly knew everything, had been avoiding her. She didn't expect Molly to approach her. "It's unclear right now. The weather is hot, so we can't rule out an accidental fire. But we'll need to investigate the cause once the fire is out. I'll keep you updated."
Molly thanked her. "Thanks."
Marigold nodded slightly, looking at her notebook.
By the afternoon, the fire was out. Five of the seven pieces of equipment were saved, which was a relief.
The hospital reported that the unconscious workers had woken up.
People around were recording videos with their phones. In this age of social media, any incident quickly spread online.
Shawn saw a video. "Isn't that Molly?"
He didn't recognize the Chase family's factory at first, but seeing Ellie and then Molly made him sit up in bed. "Why is she there when there's a fire?"
