Chapter 814 Jumping into the Pit
Patrick settled into the car, feeling the warmth wrap around him.
People always seem to miss the biting cold of winter during the sweltering summer, and long for the heat of summer during the freezing winter.
Vera missed the heat of home; at least there, she wouldn't be shivering so much that her teeth chattered.
Molly called to check in and, sensing Vera's thoughts, said, "Vera, just hang in there. Winter will pass, and summer will come. The seasons change, so enjoy the present."
Vera thought, Molly has changed!
"Are you okay?" she asked.
Molly was silent for a long time before suddenly asking, "Vera, I want to have a baby with Sebastian. Do you think I'm being impulsive?"
Vera drew out a long "hmm," and said, "I thought about that too, but I didn't dare tell you. Having a baby is a big decision for you two. You need to plan carefully, unlike me, who didn't plan at all."
Molly, leaning against her bed, looked dejected. "How did you end up pregnant? Did you take any fertility drugs?"
Vera felt awkward discussing such personal matters. "Well, we didn't really plan it. Teddy just happened. Maybe one time was just more... effective."
The two chatted on the phone for over an hour. "Is Sebastian not home?"
"He's working the night shift. Aren't Patrick and Teddy with you?"
Vera replied, "Teddy insisted on going out, so Patrick took him. It's too cold for me to go out."
Soon, Patrick and Teddy returned, with Teddy's nose red from the cold. He excitedly ran to his mom.
After taking off his coat, Vera hugged Teddy, and Molly ended the call.
At the Chase household, Molly, still uneasy, asked Makayla, "Makayla, who's on duty tonight?"
The forensic scientist replied after a moment, "Let me check the schedule. Why? Can't find Mr. Chase?"
Molly made up an excuse, "I'm ordering takeout for Sebastian and wanted to know who's on duty so I can order for everyone."
Soon, the forensic scientist sent the schedule to Molly. "Marigold is on duty tonight."
A moment later, she added, "Molly, don't bother with takeout. We have coffee and pizza here."
Molly replied, "It's fine, I'll order something different."
She placed an order for several late-night snacks, sending them to the usual address.
Molly was known for frequently ordering takeout for the team. She might not cook, but she was generous with her money.
Sebastian received the snacks in the middle of the night and took an extra portion to the neighboring office.
Molly called him on purpose, "Sebastian, where are you?"
"I just delivered some snacks next door. I'm heading back to the office now."
Molly sat up in bed. "Did you tell them I bought the snacks?"
Under the moonlight, Sebastian smiled faintly, "Even if I didn't say, who wouldn't know it was you?"
"No! You have to go back and tell them it was from your wife. You must!" Molly insisted, her tone urgent.
Sebastian sighed, "If I say it too deliberately, it'll seem like you're trying too hard to get their approval. They already know it's from you."
Molly got out of bed. "I'm coming to the station."
"Okay, okay, don't run around. I'll go tell them," Sebastian said, trying to calm her down.
He had no choice but to go back next door. Molly's words seemed too calculated, as if she were trying to make everyone remember it was she who bought the snacks. Sebastian rephrased it, "Hey, what do you guys want to drink? Molly ordered takeout but didn't get any drinks. She's worried you might be thirsty and wants to order some drinks for you."
This way, he mentioned that Molly ordered the snacks and also improved her image in front of everyone.
Her goal was achieved.
Ernest said, "Tell Molly not to waste money. Water is fine."
Another officer added, "Mr. Chase, the captain and I are fine with water. Tell Molly to get some rest. Thanks for the snacks."
Sebastian, holding his phone, told Molly as he left, "You heard them. Now go to sleep, or you won't wake up in the morning."
Molly sat on the bed. "Sebastian, am I being unreasonable?"
"How are you being unreasonable?"
In the eyes of someone who loves you, none of your actions is seen as negative. Molly wondered if she was being strange, but Sebastian didn't seem upset. Anyone else might have argued with her over the phone.
Lying back in bed, Molly sighed.
Molly was eager to have a baby.
But Sebastian didn't seem as keen. She had joked about having a baby before, and Sebastian always responded while holding a condom, "No kids for the first three years of marriage."
Relying on Sebastian to cooperate seemed unlikely. Molly wasn't one to hesitate. If she wanted something, she would find a way.
If she wanted it, she had to take the initiative!
Taking the initiative meant Molly visited her favorite lingerie store during her lunch break.
To get Sebastian to cooperate, she needed to prepare.
That evening, Molly asked Sebastian, "Sebastian, red, black, or lace? Which do you prefer?"
Sebastian was speechless.
"Answer me."
Sebastian replied, "Why don't you try them all on, and I'll choose?"
Molly playfully hit him, "In your dreams!"
Since he wouldn't choose, Molly went to the bathroom and randomly picked a lace nightgown.
Sebastian got out of bed, curious about what Molly was up to. As he approached the bathroom, he saw Molly emerge, looking stunning. Sebastian felt his mouth go dry.
He walked up, wrapped his arms around her waist, and kissed her neck, "What's the occasion? Why so forward?"
Molly wrapped her arms around his neck, stood on tiptoe, and lightly brushed her tongue against his Adam's apple. The simple gesture made Sebastian tense up. "A romantic occasion."
Sebastian knew something was off, but he couldn't resist. After all, he was a normal man, and Molly was deliberately teasing him.
He tightened his grip on her waist and moved to the bed, "Since you're taking the initiative, I'll finish it."
"Sebastian, don't hold back."
Sebastian grinned mischievously, lifting her chin, "Looks like you set a trap for me. But it's a trap I'm willing to fall into."
With that, he kissed her passionately.
