Chapter 841 Receiving Randall's Call

Ellie asked, "The fabric?"

Molly said, "Let's assume it was arson. What would be the motive? Murder by fire? If someone had a grudge against an employee, who would dare do something on our turf? Burning the machines? They could just have someone toss a screw into the machinery - why bother with fire? That's the least smart option. Plus, even if the machines broke, buying new equipment for a few hundred thousand dollars is easy. Why choose fire?

The most likely target would be that batch of fabric, because it's easy to destroy. Mom, don't forget - that batch of fabric was your starting point for entering the vertical integration market."

Ellie didn't want to be at anyone's mercy. Previously, all her fabric came from imports or purchases from other manufacturers. She wanted her own fabric production factory.

If someone in business tried to cut off her fabric supply, she'd have the confidence to start up her own factory.

During the trial period, Ellie never expected the factory to catch fire.

Molly's words gave Ellie a hint.

She looked up at Molly. "You mean the target was that batch of fabric. But that wouldn't affect anyone else. Our business partners wouldn't commit arson just because they're worried we might not buy their fabric in the future, would they?"

Arson is a crime - that would be penny wise and pound foolish, wouldn't it?

Molly shook her head. "Mom, you need to think about whose interests you're really threatening if you go vertical."

Ellie frowned, her mind constantly searching for suspects.

Timothy looked at Molly, his eyes full of pride. "You've really got it figured out now."

Molly walked over to Timothy and said sweetly, "So Dad, could you please do your amazing daughter a favor and go downstairs to get the delivery?"

Timothy pointed at Molly and said dotingly, "You're just lazy."

He got up. "Did you call them?"

Molly shook her head. "Dad, I wrote down your phone number. Keep your phone on."

Timothy laughed heartily. The more he looked at Molly, the more he liked her.

Ellie was irritated. "You two go show off your father-daughter bond somewhere else. I'm stressed out here and you're both being all sweet with each other."

Timothy and Molly got scolded and both obediently shut up.

Everyone else had left work, only the CEO's office lights were still on.

Randall wasn't home. Patrick had taken his wife and child back to Cherry Villa.

The family of three hadn't gone to bed yet when Cindy called, missing them. "Patrick, let Vera and Teddy come over. Without them here, the house is too quiet. I'm not used to it."

Vera and Teddy, both with chubby cheeks and equally welcomed by the family, looked at Patrick from either side.

Patrick said to Cindy, "Cindy, my two kids are too noisy and give me a headache. Think of these few days as a break for you and big brother - enjoy some peace and quiet. In a few days when Dad comes home, we'll come back."

Patrick still declined Cindy's invitation.

After hanging up, Vera questioned him, "How many kids do you have?"

"Two."

Vera said, "Count again."

Patrick tapped Vera's head, then Teddy's forehead. "There you go - one, two. Two kids."

Vera was speechless.

How was she like a kid!

That evening, Patrick paid the price for his casual remark.

"Honey, I'm sleeping with your kid tonight. Since you said you have two kids, wherever Teddy sleeps, I'll sleep. You sleep by yourself. Good night."

Vera picked up the heaviest one, Teddy, and crawled under the covers.

Teddy happily grabbed his little feet, then started chewing on them. They seemed delicious - he wasn't even willing to share with Mom and Dad.

Patrick glanced at Teddy and helplessly picked up his kid, carrying her back to the master bedroom. "Big kid, follow me."

Vera, affectionately called "big kid" by Patrick, immediately got out of bed and happily shuffled along in her slippers, bouncing after Patrick.

Teddy was carried back to the master bedroom and slept between his parents, thanks to his mom.

Teddy had no say in the matter. When his parents needed him at night, he was brought to the master bedroom. When they found him annoying, he was tossed into the children's room. It had been this way since birth.

However, the benefit of all this moving around was that he could sleep well anywhere - he wasn't picky about beds at all.

The next day, Randall also learned about the MS Group incident. He went to the company restroom and called Molly. "What did the police say? This made the news. It just popped up on my computer screen about the MS Group fire. I didn't believe it was your family's company. After checking, it really was. Were you not going to tell me if I didn't ask?"

Not knowing what Molly said on the other end, Randall quickly replied, "For solving the case, ask your man. I can't investigate either. Let me know if you need help."

Molly propped up her face. "Randall, it would be so nice if you were still by my side."

"You can drive yourself now, what do you need me for?"

"I need someone to take the blame when I mess up."

Randall: "...Get lost. You want me to take the blame for you?"

Molly was frustrated. "But the police haven't shown up today either. Sebastian said he has a murder case on his hands, so the fire investigation might have to wait."

Randall walked out of the restroom, talking on the phone as he sat at his desk.

After Randall left, a company employee named Otto came out of the restroom, watched Randall's retreating back, then immediately went to his supervisor's office.

Randall held his phone and said, "I'm busy today. Tonight I have to teach Susan online for her Computer Level 2 exam. I haven't dealt with your matter."

With that, Randall hung up.

On the other side, Otto sneaked into Erik's office. "Mr. Brown, do you know the MS Group recently had a fire?"

Erik nodded. "Everyone knows about that."

Otto asked, "Guess what relationship the MS Group has with Randall?"

When Erik heard anything related to Randall, he immediately perked up, sitting up straight. "What relationship?"

Otto walked over to Erik and said quietly, "His aunt."

Otto told Erik everything he'd heard from the phone call. After listening, Erik's thoughts were complicated.

"Also, I heard something else," Otto added.

Erik immediately asked, "What?"

"Don't be fooled by Randall walking to work every day. He has a hundred-thousand-dollar car parked at his place."

Erik asked, "Randall hasn't graduated from college yet, right?"

Otto nodded. "He's a senior this year."

"So Randall's family is pretty well-off," Erik said.

That afternoon, as Randall was leaving work, he was on the phone with Susan. "Get home early. We'll start studying at eight sharp. I'm going to grab dinner."

Susan, finally getting to see a friend, didn't want to go back. "Randall, can't I take tonight off? I haven't had enough fun yet."
