Chapter 840 Thoughtful Molly
So Jack carried Teddy to the coffee area and stuffed drinks and snacks into his arms.
The crying stopped immediately.
When Vera came back, she saw Teddy gnawing on a snack wrapper.
"Teddy?"
Teddy glanced at Vera and continued gnawing on the snack wrapper in Jack's arms. In his little pocket, there was an unopened drink.
Jack finally understood what Patrick felt when holding the baby - soft and cuddly, making his heart melt.
Chubby little Teddy - if he had a son like this, he wouldn't even want to go to work.
When Patrick came back to pick up his wife and child, Jack excitedly shared his experience holding Teddy with him. This made him happier than the company signing a multi-billion dollar contract. "Even when your wife clapped her hands, he wouldn't go to her. He insisted on staying in my arms."
Patrick said, "You bribed Teddy with food, didn't you?"
Jack said, "Boss, you're so smart!"
In the office, Teddy was dressed and standing while holding onto the sofa.
Vera stayed by his side. "Honey, did they find out why the fire started?"
Patrick walked to the sofa and picked up Teddy with one hand. "Not yet. Don't go hang out with Molly for now, she's busy."
Vera nodded obediently.
The family of three left. In the elevator, Patrick handed the car keys to Vera. "Molly can drive independently now. You should try too."
Vera said, "Teddy's still in the car, I'm even more scared."
She wouldn't touch the car keys.
Patrick chuckled. "Scaredy-cat."
The family of three went home.
In the evening, Sebastian went next door to find Ernest. "Was it man-made or natural causes?"
Ernest said, "With a factory as big as yours, the possibility of a natural fire is unlikely."
Sebastian frowned slightly. He understood what that meant.
He made time to go. Sebastian didn't eat dinner that evening. Learning that Ellie and Molly were both at the company, he drove straight to the company building.
He first went to Molly's workstation to find her, but her desk was a mess - nail polish, combs, bubble gum, and other items were all mixed together with documents. Sebastian couldn't tell if she came to the company to play or work.
Since she wasn't at her desk, Sebastian went to Ellie's office.
He pushed open the door and was surprised to see Timothy there too.
The fire was big enough to alarm the upper management. When they heard it was Timothy's wife's company, they called Timothy directly.
After work, he rushed over. Seeing that mother and daughter were fine, he felt relieved.
Ellie looked at the father and son who had rushed over, feeling both happy and helpless.
Both father and son cared about them.
Molly was eating from a takeout box. When she saw Sebastian, before she could stand up, Sebastian had already sat down next to her.
After sitting down, Sebastian said, "Stand up."
Molly stood up with the chopstick in her mouth.
Mr. Chase ordered, "Turn around."
Molly obediently turned around and even jumped twice at the end.
She knew this was their usual routine - a way to verify she was safe.
"Did you go into the fire scene to join the fun today?"
Molly shook her head.
Ellie said, "Mr. Olteran went over and told her to stay outside the yellow line, then she behaved. Otherwise, she would have climbed through the window herself."
Molly said, "Mom, why do you love tattling so much?"
Molly picked up her half-eaten takeout box and fed Sebastian with her fork. "Don't listen to her. She just wants to drive a wedge between us."
Sebastian opened his mouth and took a bite. "Do we even need someone to drive a wedge? How long have you been making me sleep in a separate room?"
She stubbornly fed Sebastian a big mouthful of salad. "Sebastian, what are you doing here?"
Ellie also looked at Teddy. "Did your friend tell you what caused the fire?"
Sebastian asked back, "Has the company offended anyone recently?"
With one sentence, Molly instantly turned to look at Sebastian.
Ellie shook her head, "No."
Molly held the fork and takeout box and fed Sebastian another bite. "Sebastian, are you saying someone set the fire?"
Sebastian opened his mouth to accept the salad Molly fed him. "That's the initial suspicion, but no final conclusion yet."
Ellie frowned, thinking about who it could be if it was man-made.
Molly stopped eating and focused on feeding Sebastian. "That's what I thought. The machines don't seem like they would spontaneously combust, and the factory has good safety measures. How could it suddenly catch fire, and with such a big blaze?"
After a few bites, Sebastian stopped eating. He turned his face away, and Molly switched directions to feed him.
Sebastian shook his head and pushed Molly's hand away. "You eat."
Molly placed the takeout box and fork in Sebastian's hands. "I'm full. Sebastian, please finish this for me."
After saying this, Molly rubbed her stomach as if she was really full. "I can't eat another bite."
Sebastian took the box and didn't argue with Molly anymore.
After being there for half an hour, eating what Molly had left, Sebastian gave Ellie some ideas for her to investigate internally first.
He left, and Molly followed to see him off.
"Sebastian, are you coming home tonight?"
If he could make time to come over in the evening, he probably wasn't planning to go home tonight. Otherwise, he could have said whatever he needed to say at home.
As Molly expected, "I'm not going back tonight. We're busy at the station."
When the elevator passed Molly's office floor, he asked, "Don't you have enough nail polish at home? You're keeping it on your desk too. Does it smell bad?"
Molly, "I bought odorless ones. I asked you to go get manicures with me but you didn't have time. Vera has a baby - before she even finishes painting her nails, Teddy pouts and cries. Susan hasn't come back yet, so I can only buy nail polish to play with."
There were four or five bottles at home and two in the office.
After seeing Sebastian off, Molly returned to Ellie's office and said, "I'm hungry."
She picked up her phone to order takeout again.
Ellie asked, "Didn't you just say you were full?"
"If I hadn't said that, would Sebastian have eaten my food?"
It was rush hour after work and peak dinner time. Ordering takeout meant waiting in line, cooking, and delivery - forty minutes would pass. Sebastian made time to come over in the evening, which definitely cut into his dinner time.
Molly understood Sebastian's character best, so she let him eat the takeout first and ordered again for herself.
If she really couldn't order anything, she could always go home and cook.
Knowing Molly's intention, Ellie smiled with relief. "You two have been close since childhood."
Timothy nodded too.
The hungrier Molly got, the clearer her mind became. "Mom, do you think this fire mainly burned the fabric?"
