Chapter 801 Noah Turned Over
Vera winced in pain but still picked up her Teddy, kissing his chubby cheeks and even his double chin. "Teddy, Mommy loves you so much."
"Mommy," Teddy said sweetly, his breath smelling like milk.
Vera held her soft little boy tightly, reluctant to let go. Her son was worth all the love and protection she could give.
Later, while she was taking a shower with the door open, Teddy lay on the bed, calling out for Vera nonstop.
"Daddy" seemed to be a thing of the past. Now, his new favorite word was "Mommy."
Every time he called, Vera responded.
Teddy's excited face was turned toward the bathroom.
After her shower, wrapped in a towel and not yet dressed, Patrick stood behind her with a new patch, grabbing her arm. "Hold still, let me put this on."
"Honey, it smells strong. The whole bed will reek of medicine tonight."
Patrick scolded her lightly, "If medicine smelled good, it wouldn't be medicine. Teddy would be trying to eat it."
Teddy lay on the bed, drooling and giggling.
Patrick carefully applied the patch to Vera's arm, smoothing it out meticulously, more carefully than he ever reviewed a contract. "Where are your wrist guards?"
Vera pointed to the bathroom. Patrick fetched them and helped her put them on. "Don't move your wrist. You wouldn't even let me help you with the bath sponge earlier. Did your wrist hurt?"
Vera nodded pitifully, pouting, "It did."
Patrick looked at her with concern. "Vera, your husband is here to help you, not for you to be polite with."
After securing the wrist guards, Patrick took her towel and gently dried her hair. Then he led her to the bathroom, grabbed the hairdryer, adjusted it, and started drying her hair.
Before long, Teddy, feeling neglected, started to whimper.
"Bring him in here," Vera said.
Patrick went out, scooped up Teddy with one arm, and brought him into the bathroom, setting him on the counter. The three of them looked at their reflection in the mirror. Teddy played with his toes, watching the three of them in the mirror.
Vera used her good hand to poke Teddy's cheek. She grabbed her phone and took a picture of the three of them in the mirror: her handsome, nearly perfect husband patiently drying her hair, and her adorable Teddy in her arms. She wanted to capture this warm family moment.
"You're wrapped in a towel, don't post that," Patrick said.
Vera pouted, "Movie stars don't wear clothes either."
Patrick put down the hairdryer and went to the closet, returning with her conservative pajamas. "Change into these first."
Teddy, meanwhile, had his eyes on Patrick's razor. As Patrick helped Vera change, Teddy managed to grab it.
Just as he was about to put it in his mouth, Patrick snatched it away.
Teddy clutched the razor protectively, looking up at Patrick, ready to argue.
Vera quickly snapped a photo of the father-son moment.
Patrick flicked Teddy's cheek. "When you grow a beard, I'll get you your own razor."
Teddy's pouty face was adorably cute.
Before bed, Vera posted the family photos: one of Patrick and Teddy fighting over the razor, one of Teddy crying after Patrick took it away, and a few family selfies. She captioned it: "Life, in snapshots."
Within seconds, Noah video-called her, looking serious. "What happened to your arm? What's that on it?"
Vera was speechless.
Seeing Noah's sudden concern, she was reminded of his bossy demeanor.
"Tendonitis, it's a patch."
Noah, feeling empowered, lectured his sister for ten minutes before hanging up and waking their parents with a call. "Did you know Vera hurt her arm?"
Brianna sat up quickly. "What happened to Vera?"
Warren, hearing Vera's name, also sat up. "What happened to Vera?"
Noah explained, "She's been carrying her grandson too much. Mom, Dad, you should go stay with her for a few days. Teddy's a handful and won't let the maids hold him. Vera doesn't want to trouble the in-laws, and you two are still young enough to help her out and teach her some parenting skills."
"We'll go tomorrow. Vera didn't say anything, so we didn't know."
Noah added, "When you go, don't mention taking Vera back home. It might make things awkward with the Olteran family."
If they rushed to take Vera home, it might make the Olteran family feel like they weren't taking good care of her. Vera was well-regarded in her in-laws' home, and her family didn't want to cause any discomfort.
Noah had thought of everything. Brianna reassured him, "Alright, you're still young, but already teaching us how to handle things. Don't worry."
After hanging up, Warren proudly said, "Noah's really growing up, giving us advice now. It's a good sign."
"Enough talking, let's see what's really going on with Vera's hand."
The next day, Warren and Brianna arrived with gifts. As soon as they walked in, Vera ran to them like a child. "Mom, Dad."
Teddy stood by the couch, holding onto it and watching the newcomers.
Warren picked up Teddy, joking, "Should Grandpa give you a few spanks?"
Teddy was speechless.
That afternoon, Patrick came home early after hearing Warren and Brianna were visiting, but they had already left.
Shawn felt guilty, thinking they hadn't taken good care of Vera. Warren and Brianna reassured him, "Actually, Vera should be taking care of you."
"Every time Vera comes home, she says you and Cindy help her with Teddy a lot. I even told her not to rely on you so much. But after just a few days of taking care of Teddy herself, her arm got injured. It's because her dad never let her lift heavy things, and now carrying a chubby baby has caused this."
The Linister family didn't say anything bad about the Olteran family. Instead, they thanked Shawn and Cindy for their help and subtly pointed out that Vera had been pampered at home.
In the end, it seemed like the blame fell on one person.
Everyone looked at Teddy.
"Shawn, we have to get back to work. Don't let Patrick rush home again. We're all family, no need for formalities. Please continue to take care of Vera. She's gained some weight since her break, which means you're taking good care of her."
Shawn felt proud hearing this.
