Chapter 842 Let Susan Study Well

Randall asked, "Still asking for leave? If you keep taking time off, you'll waste the registration fee. You've been playing all afternoon. Why don't you hurry back? Aren't you going to take care of your mom? If you don't listen, I'm coming to your place to get you."

Susan was scolded. She said, "Alright then, let's have dinner together, and I'll go home."

Only then did Randall feel relieved. "Remember to bring an umbrella, it's going to rain around seven."

"But I didn't bring one."

Randall said, "Then I'll call you a cab!"

Either way, Susan had to go home.

After hanging up, Susan complained to her friend, "Randall insists I go home to study for the computer exam. He's going to teach me tonight. No choice, let's head home after dinner."

Her friend knew she was in a relationship. "I've heard you mention Randall so many times today. What does he actually look like that you're so crazy about him?"

Susan blurted out, "Randall is amazing. Whatever computer problems I have, he can fix them. If you have any computer issues, I can ask Randall to help you."

Because she liked Randall so much, Susan couldn't help showing off.

"Look how proud you are. Wait until he passes the exam first. Don't let him fool you. Some men create this image of being motivated and ambitious—it's all a trick."

Susan frowned. "No. Randall doesn't need to trick me. I'm the one who pursued him. And I'm living at his place. His family treats me really well."

"You're so naive. With your status, how many people would want you? How many people would try to please you?"

Susan said, "But Randall from the Olteran family has a status even more desirable than mine."

Her friend was shocked. "Wait, who is Randall?"

"Randall—his uncle is Patrick, his dad is Vincent."

Her friend froze. "I'm sorry, I was being shallow. Susan, I wish you happiness and hope you and Randall get married soon."

Susan smiled broadly. "Thanks."

After dinner, sure enough, the weather turned gloomy, and it started raining.

As soon as Susan walked out of the mall, she got a call. "Hello, is this the car you ordered?"

"Randall called a car for me. Come with me, we can drop you off on the way. There's traffic right now; it's hard to get a cab."

Susan's friend nodded. While others were still waiting in line for rides, they were already in the car. "Susan, I really need to meet your boyfriend someday. He's so thoughtful."

Susan's face glowed with pride.

Halfway through, she called Randall and changed the destination, dropping off Susan's friend first, then taking Susan home last.

When she got home, Susan hugged her mother, then ran upstairs and opened her computer to video chat with Randall.

He had just showered and was drying his hair in the video. "What did you have for dinner?"

"Pizza, it was really good. What about you?"

Randall said, "Takeout will be here soon."

Every time Susan heard that Randall was ordering takeout, her heart ached for him.

But then, when she heard Randall ordering her to open her computer and study, she didn't feel sorry for him at all.

Soon, Randall's takeout arrived.

He ate while video chatting and teaching Susan. After their half-hour study session each night, they'd hang up, and Randall would start studying.

Opening his books, Randall suddenly remembered the invitation from his company manager when he was leaving work that afternoon. "Randall, about to clock out? Got plans? Let's grab dinner together. There'll be a lot of executives tonight, good for you to meet them."

Randall said, "I have something."

A flash of embarrassment crossed the other person's face—he'd been directly rejected. "What is it? Cancel if you can. Young man, you need to know what's important."

Randall thought about how the manager had acted when he met Vera and Molly that day. He said, "My family is coming to see me tonight."

Erik said, "...Oh, I see. Well, go ahead then."

Randall left with his shoulder bag.

He couldn't figure out why Erik had suddenly invited him. Unable to guess, Randall focused on his review.

Susan also held her computer, familiarizing herself with the steps bit by bit.

Sadie occasionally went to Susan's room to check on her hard work, lovingly ruffling Susan's hair.

The MS Group case indeed made no progress.

After work, Molly lied to Ellie, saying she was meeting Sebastian and wouldn't go home together. After sending her off, she took a cab to the factory herself.

When she arrived, she didn't expect to find someone else investigating inside.

"What are you doing here?" Molly asked the woman in front of her.

Marigold turned around and saw an unexpected person. "How did you get here?"

Marigold had come to check the scene after work. She was usually too busy, with murder cases taking priority, so she could only come here after hours to see if she could discover anything.

The two met, slightly awkwardly.

Marigold went about investigating the case, and Molly followed without anyone stopping her.

"Found anything?" Molly asked.

Marigold frowned. "Molly, does your family have any business competitors lately?"

Molly nodded. "Yes."

Then she opened a sheet of A4 paper from her bag and showed it to Marigold. "I made a list, but none of them seem very likely."

Marigold was sharp. She asked directly, "If external possibilities are slim, who used to handle procurement at your company?"

"One of my relatives was in charge."

Marigold made a questioning sound, and Molly's expression changed slightly.

Quickly, her face returned to normal. "After he was in charge, for other reasons, he was transferred to a branch office."

Marigold noticed Molly's expression but said nothing.

"I've looked around. The forensics team has results, too. Police will contact you soon. I'm leaving now."

"Wait, have you eaten?" Molly asked.

Marigold politely nodded and lied, "I have."

"Stop pretending. There's no way you've eaten at this hour. I've been to your workplace more times than you have. You can't fool me. Let me buy you dinner."

Marigold: "No need."

Molly spoke plainly. "We're going to see each other often anyway. Better than making things awkward for both of us later, and putting my husband in a difficult position."

Molly knew how to talk, directly using "my husband" to assert her claim on Sebastian.

Marigold countered, "We probably won't see each other that often."

"Not necessarily. As long as Sebastian still works there, I'm an unpredictable factor."

Molly and Marigold left together. Just as they were about to go eat, Marigold suddenly got a call. "Molly, I need to go to the station. Let's do dinner another time when I'm free. I'll treat you."

She flagged down a taxi. "Police station."

The taxi drove off.

Molly frowned and muttered, "I was hoping to catch a ride to see Sebastian."

Thinking of Sebastian, Molly felt like she'd forgotten something.
