Chapter 830 Believe in Randall
Before bed, Patrick glanced at his phone and noticed it was dark outside. Randall was still typing away at his keyboard.
He watched the video over and over.
Vera was cuddling their son, trying to get him to sleep. "Hey Patrick, try on the clothes I bought for you today. I got you a dark blue short-sleeve shirt. Let me see if it fits. And the socks, they're thinner than the ones I got you before."
Teddy thought she was talking to him, and his big eyes popped open. "Mommy."
"Mommy's here. Don't worry, I got clothes for you, too. Go back to sleep."
Patrick put down his phone and asked, "Didn't you get anything for yourself?"
"Of course I did. I wouldn't forget about myself while shopping for you guys." Vera wasn't one to miss out, especially when she was using Patrick's card.
Patrick took their son, who had been fussing for half an hour without falling asleep, and said to Vera, "You try on your clothes. Let me see."
Randall worked late into the night. "I can confirm that someone tampered with the video, and it wasn't just anyone. But I need to figure out which part, because the video is really long."
Scott glanced at the time and said, "You have work tomorrow. I'll leave my laptop here. Check it when you have time."
Randall leaned back in his chair. "Scott, didn't you say the stuff on this laptop isn't for outsiders?"
Scott chuckled. "I trust you. During the day, you have work, and the office is crowded. Plus, it's a tech company, so it's not safe."
He got up to leave. "By the way, Randall, you haven't had dinner yet."
Randall replied, "It's fine. I'm not hungry."
Scott checked the time. "Next time we meet, dinner's on me."
Randall walked him downstairs and saw that the package pickup point was closed. He headed back upstairs.
Molly noticed Shawn wasn't home, so she and Sebastian went back to the Chase family.
"Grandpa, my dad's on vacation. I'll ask him how it is tomorrow. If it's nice, I'll take you and Grandma there this weekend."
The Chase family elders had lived frugally for most of their lives. When they heard about the vacation, they refused. "It must be expensive. We don't want to go. We're fine with the air conditioning at home."
Ellie chimed in, "Mom, Dad, what are you worried about? Molly is earning money now. Let her pay."
"That's right, Grandpa and Grandma. I'll cover the cost. Don't worry."
Molly agreed readily. That night, she stood at the door of her old room. "Sebastian, can I come in?"
Sebastian replied, "Stop pretending." They were married, and she was still knocking on his bedroom door.
Molly pushed the door open and smiled. "Sebastian, I'll transfer some money from your card for Grandpa and Grandma's vacation."
Sebastian said, "Do whatever you think is best."
Molly closed the door and walked over to Sebastian, massaging his legs. "Sebastian, Vera's still upset about the $50 you took from her last time. I've been trying to smooth things over. Considering how hard I've been working, can you tell me about the case's progress? I'm not curious; I'm just asking for Vera."
The Olteran family.
Teddy, finally asleep, was moved to his own room. Vera lay in Patrick's arms, her legs draped over his. She playfully said, "Patrick, tell me. Molly wants to know everything about her rival, especially since it involves Scott. You don't want your friend to be lonely while you and your son are happy, right?"
Sebastian's approach was, "I can tell you, but why should I?"
"Because I'm the wife you've loved since childhood," Molly sweet-talked Sebastian, trying to get the information she wanted.
Sebastian pointed to the single bed. "The wife who sleeps in a separate room?"
Molly knew what he meant immediately. "I don't want to hear it."
She stormed out.
Back at the Olteran family, Patrick teased Vera, "Vera, Scott, and I are competing to see if my second child arrives before his first. Can you help me win?"
Vera slowly moved her legs off Patrick. "I think I probably can't."
She rolled up in the blanket and moved far away.
Patrick laughed heartily and then flipped over to chase her. "We're on the same bed. Do you think you can escape?"
"Tomorrow, I'm going back to the Linister family. My parents haven't seen Teddy in a while."
"I'll take you."
Patrick leaned down and kissed Vera's lips. The room's atmosphere grew increasingly intimate.
The next morning, Vera woke up with Teddy in her arms. He was already moving around, waking his sleepy mom.
Patrick dropped Vera and Teddy off at the Linister family's and headed to work.
Early in the morning, Molly called Shawn. "Dad, can you free up another room? I want to send Zoey and Max over, too."
"There are plenty of empty rooms, but they're in bad shape. There are so many mosquitoes at night. We're getting bitten alive. We didn't sleep well. I want to come home. Can you pick me up when you have time?"
Molly frowned. "What's going on? Dad, didn't you ask someone to deal with the mosquitoes?"
"We couldn't find anyone from the travel agency last night. I killed five mosquitoes myself. Jackson and Brooks killed even more. He got six."
Molly was furious. "Are there a lot of mosquitoes where you're staying? Even one can keep you up all night. And there are so many elderly people there."
Molly angrily said, "Give me the contact number of the person who took you there. I'll ask them."
Shawn sent her the booking information and the travel agency's details. "Here it is."
Molly was assertive and cautious.
She called the number and recorded the conversation. "Hello, I'm the daughter of one of the elderly people on this trip. I want to ask about their situation..."
Young people usually research travel agencies online, but elderly people don't. They see a nice place and sign up.
The Olteran family was careless this time. Shawn only mentioned going with friends and eagerly packed his bags. The younger generation assumed other family members had checked it out, so they didn't worry and sent them off.
Later, when Molly checked online, she found many negative reviews.
She was so angry that she argued with the travel agency in her office.
In the end, Molly won.
She then called Sebastian. "Sebastian, are you free to go to Shawn's place with me?"
Sebastian replied, "What's up? I can't leave right now."
Molly knew Sebastian's job was demanding. "I'll ask Patrick to go with me then. It's about Shawn. I was going to sign Grandpa and Grandma up for the same trip today, but I found out Shawn's travel agency is terrible. The elderly didn't do any research, and it's a scam. The person in charge even said, 'A bunch of old people, what's the big deal about a few mosquito bites? Everyone gets bitten by mosquitoes.' I was so angry I argued with them."
Molly requested time off while making calls.
