Chapter 763 Multitasking
As long as the handoff is smooth, Teddy won't notice he's being secretly passed around. Parents always have tricks to fool their kids.
Soft and cuddly Teddy had been passed between Patrick and Vera several times before Patrick finally managed to gently take the chubby little bundle from Vera's arms. Just as Teddy was about to cry, Patrick quickly wrapped him in a blanket and patted his little bottom.
Teddy snuggled into Patrick's arms, rubbed his tiny face, and continued sleeping.
Parents worry constantly, often checking on Teddy to see if he's warm enough.
Patrick, ever the worrier, draped his suit jacket over the sleeping Vera.
Vera said, "Patrick, I thought you were going to cover Teddy."
Patrick said, "No need. Feel him, he's like a little furnace, warm and cozy. Holding him for a while makes me sweat."
Without Teddy in her arms, Vera slept more comfortably. After all, holding a twenty-pound bundle really strains the arms.
Vera's arms still felt sore.
In the middle of the night, Teddy woke up crying again. This time, Patrick put a pacifier in his mouth, which helped calm him down. "Teddy, look, Vera is sleeping. Listen to Dad, don't cry. I'll make you some formula and then we'll walk around a bit, okay?"
Teddy continued to whimper softly.
Patrick took Teddy to the galley alone, and a flight attendant quickly came to assist.
Seeing the bright lights, Teddy became restless. Patrick immediately held him upright, and soon Vera woke up and joined them.
Teddy, on the verge of crying, quickly calmed down in Vera's arms.
"I didn't want to wake you. How did you wake up?" Patrick asked.
Yawning, Vera's sleepy voice was soft, "I'm used to sleeping with you two beside me. Suddenly, without you both, I couldn't sleep well."
The flight attendant nearby commented, "Mr. Olteran and Mrs. Olteran have such a good relationship."
Vera smiled at Teddy drinking his formula. "If we didn't have a good relationship, would I have had a baby so young?"
After Teddy was full, they changed his diaper in the restroom. This time, he slept soundly until morning.
Molly woke up first, checking her phone while still naked. "The plane hasn't landed yet. I'll sleep a bit more."
Sebastian was getting dressed nearby. "I'm heading to the station. Sleep a bit more, and don't forget to bring me some coffee leaves when you go shopping."
Molly waved tiredly, "Bye."
Last night, after coming back, Sebastian had interrogated her again, extracting every detail of her conversation with Susan. "I don't even dare to think about leaving Vera now."
Sebastian mentally replaced "Vera" with "Molly."
Molly lay on her pillow, still half-asleep.
Sebastian, dressed in his police uniform, went downstairs and saw Zoey and the others already at the breakfast table. "Grandpa, Grandma, I'm heading to the station. Don't wake Molly; she'll wake up when she's hungry. Let my parents know when they wake up."
Zoey said, "Sebastian, have some breakfast before you go."
Sebastian said, "Nah, there's work at the station. I'll grab something there."
With that, Sebastian left.
Zoey and Max watched Sebastian, proud of his uniform. In their hometown, people envied them for having a grandson who was a police officer and a granddaughter who was the prettiest in the nearby villages.
Molly woke up hungry around ten.
She stretched on the steps, "Mom, I'm starving. Is there any food?"
Ellie, resting her face on her hand, complained to Timothy, who was reading the newspaper, "If she weren't my daughter, I'd definitely dislike her as a daughter-in-law. No matter how pretty she is, I'd still dislike her."
Timothy glanced at the sleepy Molly coming down the steps. "Without Sebastian, she probably wouldn't get married. Don't start a fight; you know you can't win against her."
Molly walked into the living room, sat next to Zoey, and greeted everyone, "Morning, Dad, Mom, Grandpa, Grandma."
Ellie, despite her complaints, loved her daughter. "There's food in the kitchen. You sleep so late; why don't you sleep until noon?"
"If I weren't hungry, I could sleep until tonight," Molly said, heading to the dining room where the maid had set the table.
Molly, still in her pajamas, acted the same as she always had at home. The difference now was that everyone accepted her and Sebastian as a married couple. Before, her parents and elders saw her as a child. Now, she was seen as a wife.
With her hair messy, Molly ate with one hand and played on her phone with the other. Ellie couldn't stand it and turned to scold her, but then noticed the dark red mark on Molly's neck and quickly looked away.
"Eat your breakfast without playing on your phone," Ellie said, her back to Molly.
Molly, unaware of the mark she had tried to hide, argued, "It doesn't interfere. I'm multitasking, exercising my brain to prevent dementia in old age."
Ellie said, "I don't know about dementia, but you'll definitely go blind."
Molly continued looking at her phone, "Computer radiation is worse than phone radiation. If you're worried about my eyesight, don't let me inherit the family business. That'll protect me better."
Ellie was speechless.
Frustrated, Ellie complained to Timothy, shaking his knee, "Look at Molly, she's driving me crazy."
Timothy kept smiling, "Calm down. I'll talk to Sebastian when he gets back."
"Dad! I'm me, he's him. Talk to me about my issues, don't involve Sebastian." Molly protested.
Zoey chimed in, "Molly, your mom had surgery last year and hasn't fully recovered. Watch your mouth."
"Got it, Grandma." Molly put down her phone and took another bite of breakfast. "Mom, I was checking flight information. Patrick and his family went abroad yesterday. I'm looking for videos of Teddy in the group chat."
