Chapter 769 Brain Let Scientists Research

Vera had no clue that her simple, unadorned look had caught the eye of Noah's classmates. Right now, she was struggling to translate Noah's class schedule, holding Patrick's phone in her left hand and her newly downloaded translation app in her right.

As she slowly walked through the campus, she glanced at her left hand and typed words into the app with her right. She was more focused on this than she ever was on her homework. Little Teddy, with his chubby cheeks, watched Vera intently, and both he and Patrick were careful not to disturb her, fearing they might get scolded.

Patrick walked alongside Vera, patiently matching her pace and even helping her watch where she was going. "Which word combo's got you stuck now?"

Vera leaned closer to Patrick, pouting, "Patrick, I don't get this one. Why do they use so many abbreviations?"

Patrick couldn't resist Vera's pouting. Holding Teddy with one arm, he wrapped the other around Vera's shoulders. "It's either ethics or applied engineering science."

Vera was still confused. "Why is it so complicated?"

She pointed to another word, pouting again, "Patrick, what about this one?"

"Empirical and mathematical reasoning."

Vera shook her head. "I don't get it."

Patrick looked at Noah's schedule, satisfied. "Noah's doing well. He knows what he wants and doesn't need his parents to set goals for him."

"How can you tell?" Vera asked, looking at the paper with a headache.

Eventually, she gave up and just remembered what time Noah finished school. As for what he was studying, she didn't care.

After a class ended, Noah, who was usually surrounded by academic discussions, found himself with classmates who all wanted to sit with him since Vera had come around.

Noah realized that these people wanted to be his "brother-in-law."

He explained numbly, "She's my sister. She's married. She has a kid."

His classmates didn't believe him. "Are you also pursuing her? Are you lying to us to avoid competition?"

Noah, exasperated, held his head in his hands. "Fine, you want to pursue her? She'll be here to pick me up after school. Ask her yourself."

Sure enough, Vera was standing at the classroom door after school, taking selfies to commemorate picking Noah up.

When Noah was in kindergarten, Vera used to pick him up. She also picked him up in elementary school. Back then, Noah was very attached to her, and having his sister pick him up made him proud, running to her after school.

But after she left for middle and high school, she never had the chance to pick him up again.

Soon, the students started leaving the classroom.

Noah walked out with his classmates. "Go ahead, ask her."

Vera was puzzled. "What?"

Levi, standing nearby, asked Vera, "Hi, I'm Levi. We have a party tonight, and I'd like to invite you. Are you free?"

Vera was speechless.

A moment later, another tall guy asked Vera, "Hi, I'd like to be friends with you."

Vera was speechless.

She looked back and forth between the two guys talking to her, then looked at Noah with confusion. "What are they saying? This is harder to translate than Teddy's babbling."

Noah replied, "They're just different."

The two guys kept trying to invite and talk to Vera.

Vera got nervous, her mind going blank, unable to form coherent sentences.

At that moment, she admired Noah for being able to communicate effortlessly.

"Help me translate," Vera pleaded with Noah.

Noah, remembering how Vera had scolded him and dragged him to class earlier, wanted revenge. "No way. Aren't you the one who hits people? How come you didn't think about your language skills?"

Soon, Patrick came upstairs with Teddy.

Downstairs, Teddy had attracted a lot of attention from classmates, especially the girls, who greeted him eagerly.

After all, Teddy was considered a "foreigner" here, and his cuteness was undeniable, making him popular despite being a "foreigner."

A group of girls waved at Patrick, but Teddy, not giving them any face, hid in Patrick's neck, only his sparkling eyes visible, like gems.

Patrick didn't like the attention either, so he carried Teddy upstairs.

On the third floor, Patrick saw Vera scratching her head at the door from a distance.

Teddy shouted.

Vera's savior had arrived. She turned around and waved cutely at Patrick and Teddy. "Patrick, come here and help me translate."

Patrick, charmed by Vera, made her classmates like her even more.

Vera didn't understand.

Patrick approached and asked Noah, "What's going on?"

Noah explained in English, "Vera brought me to class today, and my two classmates took a liking to her. They want to get to know her and pursue her as a girlfriend."

Patrick understood, his expression unreadable. He looked down at Vera, who was still confused, looking up at him and pouting. "Patrick, help me translate. My skills are limited to written exercises. Conversations are tough. I can't remember many words."

Patrick looked at the two classmates. "I'm her husband. If you have anything to say, talk to me."

Vera quickly took Teddy and ran off. "Patrick, it's all yours. I'm not dealing with this."

As she left, she glared at Noah. "You just wait!"

The two classmates couldn't believe it. "She's really married?"

Patrick replied, "The child she's holding is our son. So, I'll pretend this invitation never happened. If it happens again, it won't be so easy."

Noah patted each classmate on the shoulder. "Guys, retreat. Didn't you notice that the person standing in front of us is Patrick? Don't you know the school gossip says my brother-in-law is Patrick?"

Vera, holding Teddy, hid far away, occasionally giving him a gentle kiss and sneaking glances at the conversation.

Soon, the two classmates bowed to Patrick and left.

Patrick turned to Noah. "Anyone else interested in Vera?"

"In our class, only those two with poor eyesight like her. They think her toughness is cute. The others value their lives."

They walked over to Vera, who quickly asked, "Patrick, what were those two guys doing?" Then she asked Noah, "Did you get into trouble at school? Did they come to me for an explanation?" She had been too scared to leave, racking her brain on how to ask if they had a conflict with Noah.

Noah replied, "Vera, your brain should be studied by scientists. They'd make a major discovery."
