Chapter 804 Take One Step, Plan Three Steps
As Brianna was heading out, she warned Vera, "Don't eat too much cold stuff, your hands's still hurt. If you can't control yourself, I'll tell Patrick."
Vera quickly saw Brianna out the door!
When Patrick came home, the place was spotless, not a trace of ice cream anywhere.
Patrick never ventured into the kitchen, so he had no idea what was hidden in the freezer.
Lately, when he came home and held Teddy, he always felt a bit puzzled. "Vera, who upset him again? He's all sweaty, either from being upset or crying." In the cool air-conditioned room, lazy Teddy shouldn't be sweating so much.
Vera shook her head and said, "Everyone treats him like a treasure, who would upset him? He probably had a nightmare and woke up sweating."
She turned her back to Patrick, patting her chest nervously.
The other day, she said not to let Marigold stay, but that night, Scott called, "I'll visit Sebastian when I'm less busy."
Eventually, Marigold's application was approved and stamped.
She got two days off, went back to her previous workplace to pack up her clothes, and headed straight to Zandonick.
Sam looked at the new female colleague in the neighboring team with envy, "Sebastian, our team is hiring, why don't you recruit some women? Look at the neighboring team; they have a balanced gender ratio. What do we have? A gender imbalance." All he saw were men.
Sebastian replied, "Work isn't about looking at pretty faces."
David added, "Sebastian, our team is too male-dominated; any woman who joins would be scared off."
During the meeting, Sebastian looked around the office and asked, "Are you saying you can't work because it's all men?"
The boss seemed to be in a bad mood, so everyone stopped talking and continued with their work.
Back in his office, Sebastian overheard the chatter outside, "He's definitely afraid of Molly getting jealous, that's why he doesn't hire women. I know Sebastian better than anyone."
"I agree with Sam, it's definitely because of Molly. If she gets upset, Sebastian will be banished to the office to sleep."
"We can only envy the female officers next door."
Sam, being sensible, said, "I have a partner; I need to uphold my virtues."
"Sam, you've already met Holly Martinez's parents. When are you planning to make it official?"
Sam laughed and asked, "Are you worried your gift will run away?"
When he focused on work, Sam sighed as he looked at his slightly shaking computer.
Molly, who was slacking off at work, saw Susan's travel photos and complained in the group chat, "Last weekend, I asked Sebastian to take me to the water park. I took photos all day, and guess what happened?"
Vera, the married woman, confidently replied, "You were wearing a swimsuit, and Sebastian didn't let you post them."
"If he didn't let me post them, I would have secretly blocked him and posted anyway. But these cops, they plan three steps ahead. All my photos are in his phone."
On a rare weekend, with summer vacation here, Sebastian took her to the water park.
Being sneaky, he left "claimed" marks on Molly the day before. "It's fine, we suggested going, and besides, everyone there is a stranger, no need to be shy," Molly thought. She only assumed Sebastian's plan went that far.
But when she changed into her swimsuit and grabbed her phone, Sebastian said, "Just take one phone, it's easy to lose more. When you go on the thrilling rides, you'll need to lock it up; it's a hassle. One phone for photos is enough."
Molly didn't think much of it. "Okay, whose phone?"
"Mine. My phone can't be away from me for 24 hours, and I'm not used to taking photos with yours. Let's use mine," Sebastian said.
Molly agreed and locked her phone in the locker.
They had a great time, took lots of photos, and enjoyed playing in the pool. On the way back, when she wanted to post the photos, Sebastian's sneaky nature was revealed. "I took some nice photos at the entrance, you can post those."
Molly realized too late that all her beautiful photos were stored in his phone, and she had none.
Susan commented, "Auntie, you're even more pitiful than Teddy. How did Vera know Uncle wouldn't let you post?"
Vera shared a photo of herself wrapped in a towel in the group chat, "You see my News Feed photos in pajamas? My husband forced me to wear them, no towel photos allowed."
Susan understood, "Randall never controlled me."
Molly suggested, "Susan, wear a swimsuit, go surfing, post a News Feed, and Randall will call you within a minute."
Randall appeared, "Molly, you think I don't have dirt on you?"
Vera asked, "Randall, are you always lurking?"
Randall, not working from home, wasn't as free. He felt the constraints of being an employee.
After disappearing for a while, Randall reappeared, "I'm back at work."
Randall vanished again, and Susan followed suit.
In the group chat, Molly asked, "Vera, how's your arm?"
Vera replied, "Going for a check-up in a few days."
Patrick calculated the time, Vera's ointment was finished. When he took Vera for her check-up, he also took Teddy for a check-up.
Every time Teddy had a check-up, the doctor would hold him for a while, enjoying the moment.
Vera watched other kids at the check-up, crawling around happily, and felt envious. She eagerly went over to learn from them.
Patrick turned around, and Vera was gone.
After a while, he found Vera in front of another child.
Patrick held Teddy with one hand and grabbed Vera with the other, leading her away.
Vera texted Shawn: [Dad, we're almost home.]
Shawn replied: [OK.]
Back home, the ever-smart Patrick remained oblivious.
Cindy tried to hide her laughter, turning away before facing them again, "Patrick, how's Vera's wrist?"
"Bought two more packs of ointment to continue using."
After asking about the mom, it was Teddy's turn. "How's the kid?"
Patrick's response was brief, "Dieting."
Shawn grumbled as he picked up Teddy, "Why diet? If the kid can eat, why not let him? I want to hold my grandson." Like many grandparents, he believed chubby kids were healthier.
Earlier, Shawn had been eating a chocolate bar, and a piece had fallen onto his shirt. In his haste, knowing they were coming back, he hadn't noticed. The chocolate melted, leaving a brown stain.
Patrick noticed Shawn's shirt, "Dad, what's that on your shirt?"
Shawn looked down, and Vera's gaze followed immediately.
Cindy's heart was in her throat for them.
"Dad, did you spill medicine on your shirt?" Vera quickly asked.
If anyone was nervous, it was Vera! Her heart was racing at 140 beats per minute.
