Chapter 832 Questioning Susan's Love
Randall tried to stall, "Who cooks while on vacation?"
Susan's eyes sparkled, "My family does."
Susan cooked while chatting with Randall. After a while, Randall's sleepiness faded, and he got up to wash up.
Susan carried a plate, "Mom, get up and eat."
Randall asked, "Doesn't the hotel serve food?"
"They do, but it's not healthy."
Soon, Sadie came out and saw Susan cooking again. "Susan, you don't need to cook every day. You should sleep in more."
"I know, Mom, but I like doing it," Susan replied playfully, then looked at the now awake Randall. "Randall, I'm flying back home tonight."
Randall asked, "Do you want me to pick you up?"
"No."
Randall was speechless.
Susan waved at Randall with a smile, "Because I care about you. My dad will pick us up."
Randall went to the city library, while Molly and Sebastian went to the resort to drop off Timothy and Ellie Chase.
...
Susan and Sadie spent half the summer traveling before finally returning home.
Ulysses was anxiously waiting at the airport early in the morning, with his driver behind him.
"It's so late, and they're still not out. Maybe they have too much luggage to carry? Go contact someone inside, we need to help them with their bags," Ulysses said to the driver.
Ulysses was anxious, but Ellie and Molly were taking their time.
Susan kept dropping things as she walked, picking them up, walking a few steps, dropping them again, and bending down to pick them up.
Sadie crouched down to help, but Susan immediately stopped her. "Mom, don't bend down. You push the cart, I'll carry these bags."
Ellie and Molly walked out of the airport together. Ulysses stood at the entrance, watching them approach, arms already outstretched to welcome them. "Dad!" Susan ran quickly into Ulysses' arms. Ulysses rubbed her face, "Welcome back, sweetheart. You've had a tough time."
After greeting Susan, Ulysses gently pushed her aside and walked over to his wife, embracing her and kissing her at the airport. "Honey, you've had a tough time."
Sadie shyly pushed Ulysses, "We were on vacation while you were working. Who had it tough?"
"That's not what I meant. How's your health?" Ulysses glanced at his wife's belly.
Sadie placed her hand on her belly, "The toughest part was for our daughter. She took care of me diligently, even chatting with chefs at dessert shops to ensure I got healthy food."
Susan would use her phone to translate words she didn't know, making sure her mom ate healthily.
Halfway through the trip, Sadie had a nighttime conversation with Susan. "Susan, do you like kids?"
"Of course."
Sadie continued, "I mean, not like Teddy, but what if Mom and Dad had another baby, sharing half of their love with you? Would you still like that?"
Previously, all their love was for their daughter. If they had another child, their love for her would inevitably be halved.
This pregnancy was unexpected. Sadie had difficulty conceiving, so the couple occasionally didn't take precautions. They had no issues before, but suddenly, in their forties, she got pregnant.
Susan was away studying, and the couple had considered having another child but feared she wouldn't agree, so they didn't pursue it. This surprise visit made them anxious.
Sadie used the excuse of wanting to travel, but really, she wanted to take her daughter out, let her have fun, and then seriously discuss the matter.
"If you don't like it, Dad and I won't have the baby. We would never let our precious daughter feel neglected."
Susan eagerly nodded, "Of course I like it, Mom! I've always wanted you and Dad to have a sibling for me to play with, but as you got older, I worried about the risks of having a baby. So I didn't mention it. But I'm excited for the baby."
Susan suddenly sat up, "Mom!" She looked at Sadie in shock.
Her eyes fell on her mother's belly.
Sadie smiled and nodded, "It's sudden, but it's been two months."
Susan was stunned, covering her mouth in joy, then she threw herself into her mother's arms, hugging Sadie excitedly. "Mom, why didn't you tell me sooner? I'm going to be a big sister! This is amazing, Mom, I love you."
Sadie called her husband, and Ulysses was anxious, "What did she say?"
Sadie handed the phone to her daughter, and Susan's cheerful voice came through, "Dad, congratulations on becoming a father again."
Ulysses was speechless.
Susan had spent so much time with Randall that she occasionally picked up his playful habits.
"Don't worry, I'll take good care of Mom for you."
The Morales family kept the news private, and Susan didn't tell her boyfriend either. She devoted herself to caring for her mother. She used to be her mom's little princess, but now her mom was her little princess.
After returning home, Susan and her dad accompanied Sadie to her medical check-ups.
Randall called, "Do you want to come back? I can pick you up."
"No."
Randall frustratedly ran his hand through his hair, "Susan, be honest, is there someone else?"
Susan: "Randall, are you doubting my love for you?"
Randall: "You seem off."
Before they were apart, she would cry and cling to him, not wanting to leave for even a second. He had to coax her to go, but now she didn't want to see him, didn't miss him, didn't come back, and forgot to video call him. It seemed like she had changed.
Randall hung up and lay in bed, pondering. In the middle of the night, he got up, grabbed a box from his drawer, and left before dawn.
The car had been parked in the lot for a long time. He got in and drove onto the highway overnight.
At six in the morning, Susan was so sleepy she could barely keep her eyes open. Her phone rang, and she sat up, yawning, and walked barefoot into her mom's room. After freshening up, she called Randall on video.
Randall switched to voice, "Awake?"
"Randall, it's time to get up."
"Okay, I'm up."
Susan yawned again and went to the kitchen. The chefs, all wearing hats and masks, greeted her respectfully, "Miss, are you hungry?"
Susan shook her head, "What are you making for my mom's breakfast?"
She checked and found out the chefs were specially hired nutritionists.
Understanding, she grabbed a cold drink from the fridge to wake herself up.
"Randall, why didn't you sleep in today?" Susan asked curiously.
Randall's car had just stopped at the Morales Mansion gate. He turned off the engine, "Come outside."
