Chapter 723 Grandpa Says Teddy Is Silly

Vera hugged Patrick tightly, her face pressed against his chest like a cuddly cat, one leg familiarly draped over his. "I'm sorry, Patrick. I didn't think it through."

Patrick opened his eyes, glancing at the top of Vera's soft head. "You made some good points tonight too."

They were just trying to do right by Randall in their own way.

Vera lifted her head to meet Patrick's gaze, then silently got up and leaned over his chest, pouting before planting a kiss on his lips. "Patrick, I think Randall must have done his research on this field. If he's determined, I believe he has confidence."

Patrick looked down at Vera lying on him. "It's good for young people to have dreams, passion, and drive."

After speaking, Vera snuggled back into Patrick's arms, softly calling his name, "Patrick."

Patrick responded, "What?"

"Let's take Teddy back home with us?"

Patrick didn't reply.

"Patrick?" Vera looked up at Patrick, who had his eyes closed. She was sure he wasn't asleep, just ignoring her suggestion. "Patrick, let's go back to Cherry Villa. We've stayed here long enough."

"Patrick, answer me." Vera climbed up and kissed him again, but Patrick just turned over and held her tighter.

Vera scrunched her nose at the seemingly sleeping Patrick. "You're just pretending."

Patrick wanted to stay home to see what Randall was capable of, disappearing for days and then coming back. Vera, on the other hand, wanted to take Patrick away to give Randall a chance to return. She knew that if Patrick stayed home, Randall's stubborn nature would keep him away.

Despite appearing easygoing, Randall was quite stubborn.

Vera lay in Patrick's arms, her mind racing with thoughts. Finally, she looked at Patrick's face. "If you keep ignoring me, I'll teach you a lesson."

"Go to sleep," Patrick reminded her with his eyes closed.

Rebellious Vera emerged. "I don't want to sleep."

Patrick opened his eyes, meeting Vera's gaze. She immediately closed her eyes, her quick reaction making her look adorably cute. Patrick's lips finally curved into a smile as he looked at Vera, who was acting all sweet and cute like Teddy.

Vera, with her eyes closed, leaned in for a goodnight kiss, randomly kissing Patrick's face. "Where's your mouth?"

Patrick lifted her and kissed her properly. "Now sleep."

This time, Vera settled down.

Patrick watched Vera fall asleep, then quietly picked up his phone to send a message to the head of his company's security department.

Sebastian, meanwhile, found his bed empty without Molly. His wife had gone to sleep in Susan's room.

Susan knew Molly wanted to comfort her. "Molly, I'm fine now. Go back to Sebastian."

"Be good. I'll stay with you tonight," Molly insisted, not wanting to go back to Sebastian.

"Susan, if you still feel bad tomorrow night, I'll come keep you company again."

Susan was speechless.

The next morning, the atmosphere at the Olteran Manor was still somber. At the breakfast table, Shawn asked Patrick, "Patrick, does the company have a cybersecurity department?" They wanted Randall to be in charge if there was one.

Patrick, with a stern face, replied, "Whether we have one or not, he knows."

Randall had been with the company long enough. If he was passionate about cybersecurity, he would have known from the start.

Seeing that Patrick's anger hadn't subsided, everyone at the table ate in silence, unlike their usual chatter.

Soon, Teddy woke up. Vera put down her barely touched breakfast and hurried upstairs to comfort her crying son.

Opening the door, the room was filled with Teddy's loud cries.

Vera walked in and saw Teddy on the bed, crying because he woke up and didn't see her. His baby cries were oddly endearing.

Familiar with Teddy's daily routine, Vera went straight to him, picked him up, and cooed, "Let Mommy see. My little boy's eyes are all teary again."

Teddy pouted and cried even more pitifully.

Vera kissed his cheek, changed his diaper, and carried him downstairs.

The living room warmed up with Teddy's presence.

Vera handed Teddy to Shawn, not giving him a chance to refuse. "Thanks, Dad."

Sebastian had finished eating and went to drop off Vera and Susan.

Patrick urged Vera to finish her breakfast quickly, as he would be driving them soon.

Teddy, holding his bottle, started drinking on his own.

Everyone except Patrick had tried calling Randall, but none of them could reach him.

In the morning, Shawn tried video calling Randall with Teddy in his arms, but Randall didn't answer.

Teddy looked at the screen, seeing only his own face. He frowned, looking up at Shawn, waiting for an introduction.

"It's you, silly." Teddy started crying again.

Shawn sighed, "Alright, alright, Grandpa won't call you silly anymore. You're smart, the smartest in the world."

The crying continued, seemingly unaffected.

With Randall not answering, Shawn put down the phone and continued to comfort Teddy.

He had offended Teddy by calling him silly. "Theodore?"

The crying got louder.

"Grandpa won't call you that anymore. Don't cry. Tom, hurry, get the formula," Shawn urgently instructed Tom.

At lunchtime, Susan didn't get a seat for the first time. She looked at the long lines at each window and finally joined a shorter one, occasionally checking her phone for missed calls.

When Vera arrived, she immediately spotted the dejected Susan in the crowd.

She walked over, took Susan's hand, and said, "Come on, I'll take you out to eat. Molly, Randall, and I often go to this restaurant."

"Sorry, Vera. I didn't get a spot today."

"Silly girl, what are you apologizing for? I usually benefit from you. I should be thanking you."

Vera led Susan out, opening an umbrella to shield them from the sun. "Are you still thinking about Randall?"

Susan nodded. "Randall hasn't been in touch. I'm worried something happened to him."

"Don't worry. Randall will be fine. He's a grown man. He just needs some time alone."

They arrived at the restaurant the three of them frequented. It wasn't a fancy place, just a small, unassuming spot by the roadside.

Susan knew Vera loved the Rustic Hearth Cafe, and Molly liked trying new places. This little restaurant seemed out of character for both of them.

Inside, Vera found a seat for Susan. The owner greeted them with a smile, "Is the trio missing two today?"
