Chapter 776 Susan is Addicted
Before heading to work, Shawn pointed at Teddy and said, "Take him with you."
Vincent, hugging Teddy affectionately, replied, "I can't bring Teddy to the office. If I could, I would."
He had always wanted to show Teddy off to his colleagues.
But Teddy, crying, refused to go anywhere and just wanted to stay home, reaching out to Shawn for a hug.
Despite his words, Shawn honestly hugged Teddy.
Molly, running out of time, kissed Teddy on the forehead and hurried off to work.
Susan also kissed Teddy on the nose and rushed out.
Vincent, reluctant to leave, kissed Teddy on the cheek before heading to work. "I'm off. I'll hug you when I get back this afternoon. Don't go anywhere."
Finally, it was Patrick's turn. "Daddy's leaving. Be good at home."
Patrick hugged Teddy, and then handed him over through the window.
After everyone left, Teddy started playing with Shawn again. Vera, laughing, ate her breakfast while helping Randall look for apartments. When she found a suitable one, she sent it to Susan for her opinion.
Susan spent the morning studying at the library. Randall had signed her up for a computer certification exam without her knowing. The exam was in September, and she had no idea about it until Randall told her.
"Randall, I don't know anything about this."
Randall replied, "Then learn. If you already knew, why would I sign you up?"
He sent her a compressed video to study from.
Knowing there was no study atmosphere at home, Susan obediently went to the library.
Interestingly, since being with Randall, she found the city's library more conducive to studying than her school's, despite its older facilities. The scent of old wood helped her focus.
At noon, Randall came to find her for lunch. "Randall, I wanted to bring you breakfast this morning, but Teddy held me up. I left late and didn't want to disturb you at work, so I ate your breakfast."
Randall smiled, handing her a fork. "Tell me what makes Teddy more attractive than me, causing me to miss my breakfast."
Susan, recalling the morning's events, couldn't stop laughing as she shared, "Teddy mistook Grandpa for Mom and bit him while looking for milk. Molly laughed so hard her stomach hurt."
Randall leaned back in his chair, laughing too. "Did he get a spanking?"
"No, Grandpa couldn't bring himself to do it. When Teddy reached out for a hug, Grandpa picked him up again."
Randall chuckled, "Teddy's got Vera's charm for sure."
Randall wished he could witness the lively home scenes himself, but he never had the chance.
Sensing this, Susan said, "Randall, Teddy will definitely have more antics at home. I'll record videos for you."
"Finish eating. I'll take you back to the library. If you're tired, take a nap there. Don't go apartment hunting alone this afternoon."
After lunch, Susan bought two of her favorite drinks and one she hadn't tried before. She drank her favorite and handed the new one to Randall.
"Randall, can I try a sip of yours to see if it's good?" If it was good, she'd buy it next time; if not, Randall could have it.
Randall was speechless.
But Susan's desire to share with Randall was strong. She held her favorite drink to his mouth. "Randall, try this. It's really good."
Randall noted her favorite drink, deciding to buy it for her next time instead of water.
He took a sip. "It's so sour. What flavor is this?"
"Passion fruit. It's really good."
In the afternoon, Susan studied at the library until four, then started scheduling apartment viewings with agents.
Apartment hunting was exhausting. After several days, she hadn't found one she liked.
Fortunately, Vera, a local, knew the area well and found a master bedroom with a bathroom, which she sent to Susan.
Randall accompanied Susan to check it out. The room had good lighting and a small balcony. The other tenants were all guys, and even the living room was partitioned for rent.
"This master bedroom faces the sun, has a balcony and a bathroom. It's convenient for you and your girlfriend if you don't cook. This is the best option."
Susan liked it but found the rent a bit high. She started negotiating. "Can you lower it? How about $1500 a month?"
"Young lady, this..."
Randall immediately glared at the agent. "Who are you calling, young lady?"
The agent was speechless. He meant no offense, just that Susan looked young.
"Ma'am, listen to me." The agent, skilled in his job, quickly changed his tone, addressing Susan differently.
Susan was flattered by being called "ma'am."
"This is the city center. Even a secondary bedroom outside costs $1800 a month. This spacious room is worth at least $2800 a month."
Susan was relentless in her bargaining.
Randall, finding her efforts adorable, looked around and smiled. "How about $2500 a month for a long-term lease?"
The agent hesitated. Susan pulled out her phone. "Wait, I'll call Molly."
Randall stopped her, telling the agent, "There's no subway nearby, and the community is old. $2500 is fair. Let's sign the contract now and avoid arguing with a lady."
Susan frowned. "Randall, it's expensive. The last place you found was just over a thousand."
Randall gave her a look, and Susan pouted. "Randall, Vera sent me other listings. Let's check those. This one is too pricey."
The agent said, "I'll call the landlord to discuss."
After the agent left, Susan asked, "Randall, will the landlord agree?"
Randall glanced behind. "He's not calling the landlord, but his manager. Landlords usually set a minimum price, and agents set the rest."
Soon, the rent was confirmed. "Shall we go to the office to sign the contract?"
Susan felt bad about Randall's money but was comforted by finding a place she liked.
With the keys in hand, the agent saw them out. "Take care. Contact me if you need anything."
Susan, holding Randall's arm, couldn't hide her smile. "Randall, next time you need to rent, go to him again, okay?"
