Chapter 844 Susan Feels Guilty

Before long, Randall parked his car and returned to the hotel, where he saw Erik waiting for him.

The two went upstairs together. "Randall, I heard from a colleague that you have a nice car. Is that true?"

Randall's eyes lifted slightly. He paused for two seconds, then his face broke into a forced smile. "Mr. Brown, did a colleague see the car listing I put up on a used car website?

I do have a car, but the monthly payments are too high, so I'm planning to sell it. If I don't sell it soon, I won't even be able to pay rent, and I'll be living on the streets."

Financial difficulties?

Erik also asked with a smile, "How about I give you a raise next month?"

Randall quickly waved his hands in refusal. "Mr. Brown has already been good enough to me. I'm flattered, but let's still follow the rules. Otherwise, it won't sit well with everyone. Someone with your leadership skills is seen as fair and just by everyone. If you suddenly give me a raise, everyone will think Mr. Brown is playing favorites. I remember all the kindness you've shown me."

These words made Erik immediately straighten up, his vanity satisfied.

When they reached the private room, it was filled with smoke. People were smoking, joking around, flattering each other, and opening bottles of alcohol.

When Erik entered, everyone greeted him warmly. "Mr. Brown, you brought a little sidekick with you today?"

Erik waved his hand. "This is an excellent employee from my company. I brought him out to meet everyone."

Randall sat down, and before long, someone passed him a cigarette.

Randall glanced at it, said nothing, and accepted it.

He was here to pour drinks. If a leader offered him a cigarette and he didn't take it, that would be too arrogant.

After accepting it, Randall put it down.

When someone was about to light it for him, Randall immediately stood up, grabbed a bottle, and said, "You must be Mr. Smith. Mr. Brown specifically told me that the first drink must be poured full for you."

Randall immediately poured a drink for the man sitting in the main seat.

"Mm, not bad! Mr. Brown, this young man you brought is very smart," said the man in the main seat.

Erik also looked pleased. "If he wasn't good, I wouldn't have brought him."

"Look at how proud Mr. Brown is. Seems like you want to train this subordinate as your successor?"

Erik laughed heartily. "My daughter happens to be about the same age as Randall."

Randall was speechless.

After Randall had poured drinks for everyone, he sat in his seat. "Please don't flatter me, leaders. I'm just a nobody. How would I dare try to attach myself to Mr. Brown? I just want to work honestly, save money, and marry my girlfriend someday. That would make me completely satisfied."

The smile on Erik's face gradually disappeared.

"Oh, you have a girlfriend?"

Randall nodded. "We've been together for quite a while. She's still in school, and our relationship is very stable."

After saying this, Randall immediately sensed the displeasure from the person beside him.

Randall poured him another drink. "I'm lucky. At work, I met a good leader who keeps promoting me. If I weren't driving tonight, I would have wanted to toast Mr. Brown to thank him for recognizing me."

Erik smiled.

The atmosphere at the hotel continued.

Around nine o'clock, the dinner ended. As they were leaving, Erik suggested going to an entertainment club. Everyone was enthusiastic and wanted to go.

Only Randall hadn't been drinking since he had to drive. "Mr. Brown, you all drank a lot tonight. Look, Mr. Smith can barely stand. He'll definitely need to stay at a hotel. But tonight is Mr. Smith's event. If you suggest singing and Mr. Smith doesn't go, won't that steal his thunder? When he sobers up, Mr. Smith might blame you."

Erik looked at the man whose face was red from drinking and who could barely stand. He felt Randall made a lot of sense. "Let's do it another day. Mr. Smith's alcohol was too good today. I'm seeing double right now. Since Mr. Smith treated us today, I'll invite everyone to sing another day."

Everyone dispersed, and Randall drove Erik home.

When they arrived at Erik's townhouse, he drove up to the door and honked.

"Who is it?"

Before long, a woman in her twenties came out of the house.

Seeing Randall, the woman was surprised. "You, who are you?"

Randall asked, "Is this Mr. Brown's house?"

The woman nodded. Randall opened the back car door and looked at Erik, who was drunk and asleep. "Do you know him?"

"My dad."

Randall knew he had the right place, so he said, "Open the door and give me a hand."

She quickly opened the door and watched as Randall pulled her father inside. "Where's your mom?"

"She went out."

Randall asked again, "What about your family's servants? Can someone come help?"

The woman shook her head. "We don't have any."

Randall said, "Sorry."

He and Erik's daughter helped Erik into the living room together.

He noticed there didn't seem to be an elevator in the house, and as a guest, it wasn't appropriate for him to go upstairs. So he placed Erik on the sofa, took out the car keys, and handed them to the girl. "Mr. Brown's car is parked outside. Take good care of him. I'll be going now."

"Um, I still don't know your name. How should I tell my dad tomorrow, who brought him home?"

Randall: "It's fine, your dad knows me."

With that, Randall left without leaving his name.

He left on foot and hailed a cab on the road, heading toward where he lived.

At home, Susan was comfortably binge-watching a show. In the blink of an eye, it was almost ten o'clock. She suddenly realized she hadn't studied anything. What if Randall checked on her later?

She quickly closed the computer window and immediately opened a document to study from her phone.

Three minutes later, Randall's call came through.

Susan looked at her phone and suddenly felt it was burning hot. Randall was checking up on her.

She pressed her lips together, picked up the phone, and answered, stuttering, "Hello, ahem, hello, hello Randall?"

Randall's tone was casual. "What's with all the 'hellos'? What were you doing that makes you so guilty?"

Susan: "Nothing, nothing at all."

After saying this, she realized she had stuttered again.

Randall was quiet for a few seconds. "Were you not studying and watching shows instead?"

Susan bit her lower lip. "Randall, I'm studying right now."

"Were you watching shows or not?"

Susan stuck out her tongue, not daring to answer.

Randall had already guessed. "Susan, I'm coming to pick you up this week. Start packing your things."

Hearing that he was coming to get her, Susan's face immediately scrunched up. "Randall, I still need to take care of my mom."

"Then I'll bring your mom too."

Susan bit her tongue and said quietly, "But my dad won't agree."

Arriving at his place, Randall paid the fare and entered the elevator. "I'm in the elevator right now. When I get back, turn on your computer and connect with me."

"Oh, I'm sitting right at my computer."

After hanging up, Susan quickly deleted all her show-watching history from her computer and cleared her browsing history. She let out a long breath. "Finally got that done."

She felt safe now because without any history, nothing could be traced.
