Chapter 753 Meeting Uncle

2:00 PM.

The police station was dealing with an unusual case.

Ian grabbed Ernest by the arm. "Do you know who I am?"

Ernest squinted at Ian. "You look kinda familiar."

Ian pressed on, "Do you know Mr. Ross White?"

"You're Mr. White!" Ernest exclaimed, taken aback.

Ian, still sweating, nodded. "Finally, we can talk properly. Earlier, on the main road, your officers didn't investigate or ask questions. They just took our driver's licenses and brought us here. Do we look like child traffickers to you?"

Ernest was the detective who had cracked the Abby case and was a colleague of Sebastian.

He had been nearby when the call came in, reporting a suspected child trafficking case.

Without hesitation, he dispatched officers immediately. Anything involving children was a top priority.

At the scene, they didn't listen to explanations and brought everyone in for questioning.

Thus, four distinguished men from various places were brought to the police station because of a crying child.

"Mr. White, what's going on?" Ernest knew them and doubted they were involved in child trafficking.

Ian pointed to the now-quiet Teddy. "This is our godson. Just because he cries a lot, people assumed we couldn't take care of him and thought we had kidnapped him."

Ernest looked at Teddy, who was now peacefully sucking on his hand in Joshua's arms. He had finally stopped crying.

"Mr. White, even though I believe you're innocent, we still need to follow protocol. Where are this child's parents?"

"Why did you say 'parents' like that?" Ian nitpicked. "Do you still think we kidnapped him?"

Realizing his mistake, Ernest quickly corrected himself. "I misspoke. I meant, where are his parents?"

Ian replied, "His dad's at work, and his mom's taking an exam. No one could look after him, so the four of us, who rarely see him, took him out for the first time today. Teddy's a crier; he's been crying seven or eight times since this morning."

Ernest glanced at the adorable, chubby Teddy again. He had heard the child's loud cries when they first arrived at the station, which tugged at his heartstrings.

The female officers had tried to hold him, but Teddy only wanted his godfathers. He cried even louder when strangers held him.

"We need the names of his parents and his birth certificate. We have to notify his parents to come to the station for verification. Even though you're Mr. White, the law doesn't care about status," Ernest said firmly.

Ian, frustrated, sat down. "His dad: Patrick. His mom: Vera. Call his dad."

"What?" Ernest was taken aback.

Ian continued, "Yes, my godson is from the Olteran family. His father is that Patrick."

Ernest remembered something and quickly instructed his trainee, "Go next door and see if Mr. Chase is busy. Ask him to come over and identify his nephew."

Sebastian was reviewing case files when a flustered officer from the next room interrupted him. "Mr. Chase, your nephew is with us. Can you come verify his identity?"

"My nephew?" Sebastian leaned back in his chair, trying to figure out which nephew they meant.

Sebastian thought of Randall, his older nephew. "What's wrong with Randall?"

It couldn't be his younger nephew, Teddy. Teddy couldn't crawl or walk yet and wasn't old enough to get into trouble. Besides, Vera was taking an exam, and Molly was at work. So, Sebastian dismissed the idea of it being his adorable little nephew.

"A passerby reported a suspected child abduction involving your nephew."

Sebastian was puzzled. "Randall abducted?"

When Sebastian, in his police uniform, entered the next room, he looked for Randall but was surprised to see four familiar faces. Then, a small figure caught his eye.

He tentatively called out, "Teddy?"

Teddy turned his head at the sound of his name.

Sebastian approached and confirmed it was indeed his little nephew.

Sebastian picked up the sweaty Teddy, who happily raised his little arms for a hug.

"Hey there, buddy. How'd you end up here?"

Teddy, familiar with Sebastian, pouted his lips in a cute, sad way.

Sebastian chuckled, "Right, you can't talk yet."

Ernest continued talking to Ian, "Mr. White, could you contact Mr. Olteran?"

"I won't. It's embarrassing enough that we got brought to the police station for not knowing how to take care of a child," Ian said, handing over Patrick's number. "You call him."

Sebastian, who often visited the Olteran Manor, knew how to handle kids. Holding Teddy, he didn't cry or fuss.

Sebastian looked at the men he recognized from his wedding to Molly earlier that year. "I'll call Patrick."

Patrick was about to enter a meeting when he received Sebastian's call. "Patrick, you need to come to the police station."

"Vera's taking an exam. What's wrong with Molly?"

Before Sebastian could answer, he heard Teddy's voice in the background.

"It's not them. It's Teddy."

Half an hour later, Patrick arrived at the station.

Teddy, seeing Patrick, felt a wave of relief and reached out, crying and clinging to him.

Finally, in Patrick's arms, Teddy rested his head on Patrick's shoulder.

Owen sighed in relief. "Mr. Olteran, I admire you."

Scott also exhaled. "Being a parent is tough."

Ian declared, "I never want kids."

Joshua added, "Patrick, maybe in a few years, you can give Teddy to me."

The ordeal finally ended with Patrick's arrival.

Although it was a misunderstanding, the police praised the person who reported it.

If everyone were as vigilant, they'd rather respond to a false alarm than have a child in danger.

No one held a grudge. Ian patted the man's shoulder. "You're really conscientious. I admire that."

The man awkwardly apologized, "Sorry, I've been watching too many videos about missing children. I couldn't help but intervene."

"Good job. Keep it up."

Patrick carried Teddy, who fell asleep in his arms before they even left the station.

Sebastian said, "Patrick, Molly and I will visit tomorrow night to see the kids."

Patrick nodded.

As they left, Scott gave Sebastian a meaningful look but said nothing.

Two cars headed to Rustic Hearth Cafe. Patrick guessed his friends hadn't had lunch yet, so they went straight to the hotel.
