Chapter 714 Another Dark History of Teddy

Susan's heart pounded in her chest, her innocent eyes now wide with tension. She stared at him, her breath coming in short gasps. "Randall."

Randall chuckled. "Susan, I told you, knowing too much about men can be dangerous."

He suddenly leaned in closer. Susan had nowhere to go and shut her eyes tightly in fear.

After a few seconds, she realized Randall hadn't touched her. She slowly opened her eyes to find him just inches away. "Randall, I don't get you."

Randall smirked, "Silly girl, I was just messing with you."

He leaned back into his seat. "Susan, this is the second time. If you figure me out one more time, I won't let you off so easy."

Susan's heart was still racing, her breath unsteady. She sat up and tried to discreetly open the car door.

"If I really wanted to do something to you, running out of the car wouldn't help. Close the door and get some sleep."

Randall went to the trunk and pulled out a spare blanket, draping it over Susan. "Sleep in the car."

Susan watched as Randall reclined his seat. She wanted to ask him why he took this job if he didn't like it, especially since her uncle hadn't pressured him this time. But remembering what just happened, she chickened out.

Susan slowly reclined her seat and lay down, staring at the night sky through the sunroof. The stars were a rare sight in Zandonick.

After a while, Susan thought of her family and asked softly, "Randall, have you contacted anyone at home?"

Randall didn't respond, seemingly asleep.

Susan didn't disturb him. She took out her phone and sent a quick message to Vera, then put it away.

At the Olteran Manor.

Vera had just finished a "battle" with Teddy. Half her sleeve and body were wet, and she only stopped after making Teddy cry and handing him over to Patrick.

"Vera, your phone's ringing," Patrick called out, holding a teary-eyed Teddy.

Vera replied, "I'll be out in a minute."

Patrick looked down at Teddy. "Your mom's scolding is for your own good. You can't drink your bathwater. It's not like she's stopping you from eating. You threw a fit in the tub and got a spanking from Vera, didn't you?"

Teddy pouted, feeling wronged, wanting to complain that Vera wouldn't let him drink his bathwater.

Soon, Vera came out wrapped in a towel, her hair in a turban. She picked up her phone and pointed at Teddy. "You're sleeping with your dad tonight. I can't stand your dirty habits. How did I, such a clean mom, end up with such a messy son? I don't know who you take after." She glanced at Patrick.

Patrick quickly defended himself. "I have OCD."

Vera looked at the teary-eyed Teddy. "Your grandpa is also clean. You're the odd one out."

Teddy started crying again, looking like an unloved child.

Vera saw the message on her phone. "Vera, Randall, and I won't be home tonight. We're on the mountain north of the city. Don't worry."

Vera turned off her phone, picked up Teddy, and reluctantly took care of him. "Patrick, grab his white pajamas with the blue trim from the closet. We'll send him to your dad tonight."

Patrick went to the closet and noticed Teddy's clothes had piled up again. At this rate, he feared he'd have to clear out his watch collection to make room for Teddy's clothes.

Everyone in the family bought clothes for Teddy: Shawn, Vera, Cindy, Molly, Susan, and even the stern Vincent would pick up new outfits for Teddy when he visited baby stores. Noah sent clothes from abroad too.

Patrick handed the pajamas to Vera. "Tell everyone in the group to stop buying clothes. He can't wear them all, even if he changes twice a day. There are still many with tags on."

Vera sighed, "It won't help. He's the only baby in the family now. No one listens to us. My parents just bought him two more outfits and asked us to pick them up."

Patrick looked at Teddy. "Ian bought one too. He's bringing it over tomorrow."

Vera, disgusted by Teddy's habit of drinking bathwater and trying to eat his feet, handed him to Patrick. "Take him to your dad. He loves his grandson so much, let them sleep together tonight."

Patrick didn't refuse and took Teddy to Shawn.

Shawn took Teddy. "What's wrong with him now?"

"Drinking bathwater and trying to eat his feet. Vera and I can't stand it."

Shawn scolded Patrick and Vera. "What kind of parents are you? Disgusted by your own child."

Patrick explained, "The bathwater had his butt washed in it."

Shawn conceded, "Yeah, that's pretty gross."

He took Teddy inside to play.

Patrick returned to the bedroom where Vera was video chatting with Molly.

Both were in their bathrooms. "Vera, you said Randall and Susan aren't coming home tonight?"

"They're on the mountain north of the city. Randall got promoted today, and became the company head."

Molly applied an eye mask. "No way, didn't Randall want to..."

"Patrick's here."

Molly changed the subject, "I heard from Mom that a lot of people are asking about Randall."

Vera suggested, "If you're free tomorrow, come home with Sebastian. It's been a while since we all got together. Randall will probably be back too."

Molly called out loudly, "Sebastian? Sebastian, are you there?"

"What?" Sebastian, used to walking around shirtless, came over. Molly, also used to it, turned the phone away and asked, "Are you free tomorrow night? Come home for dinner with me."

"Sure, come to the station after work. The guards and Ernest and Makayla next door have been missing you." Sebastian agreed and went back to the bedroom.

Molly adjusted her phone and applied a facial mist. "I can't help being popular."

Vera warned, "Molly, don't pass your narcissism to Teddy. Randall inherited Cindy's sharp tongue. Teddy inherited Cindy's fussiness. Don't pass on any more flaws."

Molly patted her face, admiring herself. "I wish you'd have a niece for me. I'd only pass on my beauty."
