Chapter 826 Concealment Between Good Brothers
Not long after, Marigold had to head to work. She handed Teddy a new lollipop and warned Scott, "Don't unwrap it. He's too young to eat it. Make sure to leave early with Teddy."
Marigold glanced at Teddy again, gently touched his little hand, and said softly, "Bye-bye, Teddy."
Scott looked at Teddy and said, "Why, Teddy? Let me see what charm you have that makes her so gentle with you and so cold to me."
Teddy yawned in Scott's arms; it was time for his nap.
Having had some special experiences, Scott immediately cradled him horizontally, patting his little bottom to lull him to sleep.
By the time they reached the hotel, Teddy was already asleep in Scott's arms, clutching the lollipop, sleeping soundly.
Scott held Teddy tightly, reluctant to put him down. Despite having no blood relation, seeing Teddy made Scott hug him tighter. "Teddy, I love you very much."
Teddy, surrounded by love, slept happily.
On the computer screen were the surveillance videos Scott had been repeatedly watching for the past few days. Everything seemed normal, and even his friends couldn't find anything unusual.
Once again, Scott held Teddy while sitting in front of the screen, not remembering how many times he had watched it.
In the evening, when Patrick got off work, Vera was waiting for him downstairs. "Honey, I thought you might go pick up Teddy after work, so I waited here for you."
Patrick chuckled, "Get in the car. I was planning to go home and get you."
They drove straight to the hotel.
After a day without seeing Patrick and Vera, Teddy was sitting among his toys, crying.
Vera walked over, picked him up, and noticed the lollipop in his hand. "Teddy, who gave you this?"
Teddy babbled, clinging to Vera.
Scott said, "I took him to the police station today. Marigold gave it to him."
Vera was shocked. "What?"
Marigold? Wasn't she Sebastian's ex-girlfriend?
Scott was surprised. "You know her, too?"
Patrick's gaze fell on Vera. Was it really that surprising to hear a name?
Vera shook her head. "I don't know her!"
She held Teddy to the side, unwrapped the lollipop, and started eating it herself.
A baby's cry broke the silence in the room.
Patrick glanced over, unfazed. He asked Scott, "Why are you here? I doubt Teddy has that much charm."
"You're wrong. Teddy does have that much charm."
"Who is Marigold? Don't make me investigate. If I find something, you might not be happy."
Amid the baby's cries, the two men conversed. Normally, they were hot-tempered, quick to anger over the slightest inconvenience. But this time, they were unusually gentle, not daring to lose their temper with Teddy.
"Marigold is from the Walsh Group in Skyview City. Back when the Fisher family was in dire straits, the Walsh family helped them. Now the Walsh family has fallen on hard times and wants to marry into the Fisher family. Originally, the marriage wasn't supposed to involve us, but Ace Fisher died, and his sister Spring mysteriously disappeared from the Fisher family.
With the two families about to arrange a marriage, the bride-to-be ran away!"
Talking about this made Scott furious.
"Marigold now suspects I forced Ace to his death and that I killed Spring out of spite. She insists on checking all my surveillance footage. Bro, do you think my hands are clean at this point? She's a cop. If she finds anything, even if we get married, she could send me to jail.
I didn't let her check the footage; I've been checking it myself. She keeps saying Spring came to the Fisher Mansion, and there are witnesses who confirm it. I had my people search the entire house, but we couldn't find her."
Patrick was still focused on, "You said you're getting married?" No wonder he was confident enough to compare whose first child would come first.
Scott felt guilty. "What's wrong?"
Scott understood what Patrick meant. "Don't be mad. Who suddenly got married without a word and then announced they were a dad? Why can't I get married quietly too?"
Patrick glanced at his "two big surprises" in life.
Teddy was now calm in Vera's arms, holding the green stick of the lollipop his mom had eaten, with no candy left on it.
Vera chewed the candy, and Teddy looked up at her, then at the bare stick, questioning life.
Patrick chuckled, his face showing affection.
"Do you want to marry her?"
"That's nonsense. Who wants to marry her? I'm being morally coerced." Who knew she didn't want to marry him either.
Patrick raised an eyebrow. "You've gone from being an illegitimate child to the head of the Fisher family. I don't believe you can't control your own marriage. Ace died right in front of you, and you're afraid of moral coercion?
The Fisher family must have many heirs left. To deal with the Walsh family, you could find anyone to shut them up. Why involve yourself?"
Scott said, "Patrick, talking to you guys is so boring."
Scott leaned back on the sofa. "The Walsh family wants her to marry me now. She used the excuse of studying to escape the marriage by transferring here. She said she won't agree unless Spring is found."
Patrick stood up. "Let me see the footage."
Scott didn't hide anything from his brothers. He went to his desk and opened the surveillance footage. "This is from when Spring entered the Fisher Mansion until she was discovered missing."
Patrick watched for a while but didn't see any issues.
"Could the footage be edited?"
"No, someone checked it for me. They think editing is unlikely."
"Scott, go find Randall to check it for you."
Patrick trusted Randall more, especially since he had retired from the Dark Web, making him a top expert.
Scott suddenly remembered Randall. "Right, how could I forget Randall?"
Scott asked Patrick, "Are you still mad? Is it really necessary? Enough already."
Patrick said, "Say one more word, and I'll tell the other three that you're getting married and got dumped by the bride."
Scott said, "You're such a jerk."
