Chapter 737 The Perfect Gene in Quotes

Shawn had a mischievous idea. "Then just stay there and don't leave. Let's see if Randall kicks you out at night."

Susan looked down and whispered, "I told him."

Cindy quickly asked, "What did Randall say?"

Susan looked even more upset. "Randall said he would call my dad and tell him I was spending the night at a hotel with a man." If Ulysses found out, Susan would get scolded. Poor Susan could only sit pitifully next to Randall, watching him study while she ate.

These past few days, Susan felt like she hadn't eaten much, yet she had gained weight.

Cindy was so angry she cursed, "That jerk!"

Everyone had given up on Randall, except for Susan, who still foolishly held out hope for him.

The next day, when Randall called her to the hotel again, Susan couldn't help but run over. Seeing a plate of fruit on the table, Susan was so angry that she started crying. "Randall, you always use my feelings for you to force me to eat fruit." She was mad at Randall for using her and mad at herself for being so weak, coming whenever he called.

Susan cried, and Randall panicked. "Why are you crying?"

Randall didn't know how to comfort her, so he awkwardly raised his hand to wipe away the tear on Susan's cheek, his touch surprisingly gentle. His tone softened unconsciously. "I won't make you eat it anymore, okay? I'll eat it, and you can watch me."

Susan said, "But if you eat it, I won't be of any use to you, and you won't let me come tomorrow."

Randall didn't realize dating was so exhausting. "I'll let you come, okay?"

After a long time of coaxing, Randall repeatedly promised to let her come the next day and not force her to eat fruit before she finally calmed down.

Randall, who was clueless about relationships, gradually started to change after getting a girlfriend.

Later, Randall ate half the plate of fruit by himself and couldn't eat anymore. He then realized how much he had been forcing Susan to eat. "Why didn't you tell me you couldn't finish it?"

"I did, but you said if I didn't finish it, you'd make me leave," Susan said, feeling wronged.

Randall said, "Why didn't you hit me?"

Susan pouted, "Vera didn't teach me how to fight. I can't beat you."

Randall got anxious. "You can hit me. I won't fight back."

Susan's cheeks puffed up as she thought about it. "Then I'll hit you next time."

Later, Randall took Susan out to eat. He bought food for Susan but didn't eat himself because he was full from the fruit.

Randall's job was still unstable, and Susan wisely didn't ask too many questions, not wanting to add to his worries. She always played the role of a happy, cheerful companion by his side. This way, Randall felt much more at peace whenever he saw her.

Susan's approach worked. Randall's mood improved significantly whenever he saw her.

Meanwhile, Teddy went to the office with Patrick. Ever since he learned to call him "Dad," Patrick's heart melted every time Teddy's soft voice called out, "Patrick."

Entering the office, Patrick carried Teddy in one arm. Along the way, Teddy kept calling "Dad," and Patrick never got tired of hearing it, though he maintained a calm exterior.

In the elevator, Patrick would hold Teddy and kiss his cheek.

In response, Teddy would turn and give Patrick a big, enthusiastic kiss on the face, returning his love.

The staff in the secretary's office watched Teddy clinging to Patrick and kissing him, feeling envious. "If my future kids are like Teddy, I'd have ten of them."

"Dream on. It's all about genetics. Mr. and Mrs. Olteran's genes combined perfectly."

Back in his office, Patrick held his and Vera's "perfect genetic creation." "Let Dad see why you're so cute and why everyone loves you."

Teddy sat on Patrick's lap, looking up with his chubby face, only knowing one word: "Dad."

Patrick responded to Teddy's calls, "You're like your mom, like a little kitten, aren't you?"

Holding Teddy, who still had that baby scent, Patrick had no desire to work, only wanting to hold his child.

"Dad," Teddy called, and Patrick answered each time. The more he responded, the more Teddy called.

When Jack entered, the father and son were in the middle of their tender moment.

"Mr. Olteran, am I interrupting?"

"No, go ahead," Patrick said, holding Teddy close. Teddy's little face rested on Patrick's shoulder, one hand reaching out to fiddle with Patrick's leather chair.

Jack asked, "Mr. Olteran, Randall has resigned. Do we need to hire new staff? Should we leave the position vacant temporarily, promote from within, or look elsewhere?"

Patrick patted Teddy's back, thinking about the arrangement. The secretary-general position was crucial and couldn't remain vacant. He wasn't satisfied with the internal candidates. "We'll open the position to the public."

Jack received the order and, eyeing Teddy, couldn't resist asking, "Mr. Olteran, can I hold Teddy for a bit?"

Patrick looked at Teddy, who was focused on the chair. "Teddy, are you trying to break Dad's chair?"

Patrick laughed, stood up, and handed Teddy to Jack. "Go play with Jack. Dad needs to work."

Jack eagerly took Teddy. "Mr. Olteran, I promise I can still work well while holding Teddy!"

Patrick smiled faintly. "Don't underestimate him."

Teddy looked at Jack, confused, his little face scrunching up. As soon as Jack carried him out of Patrick's office, Patrick heard Teddy's familiar crying through the door within three minutes.

It was Teddy's heart-wrenching cry.

Soon, Jack returned with Teddy. In Jack's arms, Teddy turned his tearful eyes toward Patrick, reaching out with his little hands, his body leaning toward Patrick.

Patrick stood up and took Teddy, holding him securely like he did when he was a newborn. "Crying again? Aren't you embarrassed?"

Teddy used Patrick's shirt to wipe his tears.

Jack asked, "Mr. Olteran, am I bad with kids?"

Patrick looked at Teddy, whose long eyelashes were still wet with tears, and wiped them with his palm. "Teddy is clingy. He doesn't let strangers hold him. It's better now; he cries after a while. Before, he would cry immediately."

Jack remembered the few times Teddy came to the office. Randall held him, and he cried. At least he didn't cry immediately when Jack held him, which was an improvement.
