Chapter 766 Scaring the Baby to Tears
Noah was always elusive, only reachable by phone. So, when he did show up, he always stood close to Noah, holding his small foot, not wanting to let go.
"Hey, Vera, Patrick, have you guys booked your rooms yet? If not, I can call the hotel and get two rooms reserved. I always book ahead when my parents visit."
Vera replied, "Patrick already booked a suite and got a room for you too."
"Thanks, Patrick." Noah smiled, a smile that looked a lot like Vera's, noticeable only to those who knew her well.
When Patrick saw Noah's smile, he quickly glanced at Teddy, wondering if his smile resembled his or Vera's.
But when he looked down, Teddy was yawning widely, his little mouth forming a perfect circle.
They didn't stay long at Noah's place and soon headed to the restaurant for dinner.
"Vera, how long are you guys planning to stay?"
"This trip is all about seeing you. If Patrick's work goes smoothly, we can stay for about a week."
Noah was thrilled. Vera's visit made him happier than his parents' visits.
In the afternoon, Noah took the day off to show the family around the school.
No one called from home because everyone was asleep.
Molly woke up sweating, half of her body pressed against the warm Sebastian. She couldn't push him away, so she got out of bed and adjusted the air conditioning.
Once up, she couldn't fall back asleep. Molly picked up her phone and started scrolling. Seeing Vera's News Feed location, she liked it and commented, "Did you meet Noah?"
Soon, a private message came through, "Why are you still awake at this hour?"
"Woke up from the heat. Sebastian is like a heater, and he insists on snuggling close." Molly chatted for a while. When Sebastian woke up in the middle of the night and saw her on her phone, he took it away and put it on his nightstand. "Sleep."
Molly said, "Sebastian, I need to tell you something."
Sebastian responded with his eyes closed.
"I've told you several times, don't kiss my neck during that time. It's fine in winter when I can wear a scarf, but in summer, I look ridiculous. Yesterday morning, Mom saw the marks on my neck. It was so embarrassing."
"As long as you're not embarrassed, Mom will be."
Molly said, "Sebastian, I'm serious. You can kiss, just don't be so rough."
Sebastian hugged her tightly. "Okay, I'll be careful tonight. Now, sleep."
Molly was speechless.
At dawn, Sebastian had to go to work. Molly had just fallen asleep when he got up. Remembering her complaint from the night before, he gently lifted her robe to look at her slender neck. Sometimes, in the heat of the moment, he couldn't control himself, even though he knew he shouldn't leave marks.
After covering her back up, Sebastian went downstairs.
Ellie instructed the maid to set aside some breakfast. "Save some for the sleepyhead still in bed."
Ellie didn't need to ask to know that Molly was still asleep.
"She woke up last night to chat with Vera and then went back to sleep," Sebastian explained.
At the breakfast table, the conversation shifted from Vera to Noah. Zoey and Max commented, "Sending such a young kid abroad to study, how could they not worry?"
Ellie said, "Of course, parents worry. But Noah's done well for himself, living abroad all these years. I heard he even paid for his own college tuition."
Sebastian ate quietly, lost in thought.
"Sebastian, what's on your mind?" Timothy asked.
Sebastian took a sip of milk, trying to hide his thoughts. "Oh, nothing."
Timothy smirked. "Thinking about how to raise your future kids with Molly?"
Since Timothy had guessed, Sebastian didn't bother hiding it. He nodded. "I think Noah's independence is impressive. I've seen a lot of kids his age in my cases, especially from families with small businesses. They often develop bad habits from being spoiled. But Noah, despite his family's wealth, is humble and knows his place. I'm wondering if raising kids away from home might be better."
Even though he didn't have kids yet, he was already thinking about the future.
Ellie chimed in, "It's not just about that. It depends on the parents' education. Randall, Vera, Molly—they're all wealthy but turned out fine. Parental guidance and the influence of friends are crucial. Not all kids who study abroad turn out like Noah. Look at Alan from Vertex Innovations Group—highly educated but a mama's boy, useless despite his looks.
"Just the other day, I ran into Jesse. He used to be so proud of his son, but now his hair is white. He ended up with a troublesome ex-wife who, despite the divorce, keeps demanding support from him."
Ellie had talked a lot at the table without realizing it.
Timothy joked, "So, a woman can influence a family's future. Our family is doing well thanks to your mom."
Ellie teased back, "Stop flattering me. We were talking about Sebastian's future kids, and I got off track."
After breakfast, Sebastian didn't leave immediately. "It's too early to think about it now. When we have kids, Molly won't want them to leave her side. She can't go a few days without seeing Teddy and needs to video call him. If it's her own child, she'll want them with her all the time."
Ellie agreed, "That's true."
By eight, Sebastian left for work.
When Molly woke up and came downstairs for food, she learned that everyone had been discussing her future kids. "They said I wouldn't want the kids to leave. I bet Sebastian will be the one who can't let them go.
"Before Vera had Teddy, Patrick was as tough as nails. Now, with Teddy, he can't go a few days without calling seven or eight times. He even went to pick him up in the middle of the night after just two days apart.
"If Teddy ever studies abroad, I bet Patrick and Vera will move the whole family to be with him."
Ellie said, "That's because Teddy is still young. Mr. Olteran and Vera can't bear to be apart now, but they'll manage when he's older."
In another country, night had fallen.
Vera held a giggling Teddy. "Teddy, how about staying with Noah when Mom leaves? You can study abroad with him."
"Sure! Vera, don't worry. I'll take care of him," Noah said.
Patrick added, "Vera's just talking. She can't bear to be without Teddy."
In the evening, Noah insisted on having Teddy sleep with him to bond.
Teddy, looking at Noah like he was a kidnapper, started crying.
Patrick, however, agreed.
