Chapter 748 Mr. Olteran Says His Wife Is Virtuous
After dinner, Randall's car was all cleaned up, and he drove Susan back to the Olteran family home in the middle of the night.
"Don't be stubborn. I can take care of myself. Enjoy your summer break. Molly's practically a part-timer now and she's jealous of your vacation," Randall said.
Susan responded with silent defiance.
Later that evening, as Shawn was getting ready for bed, Susan knocked on his door. "Grandpa, I brought some treats."
Shawn got up immediately.
At Cherry Villa, Vera kept pestering Patrick, batting her eyes. "Patrick, what did you do for Randall?"
Patrick was stubborn. "Nothing."
Vera challenged, "Dare to let me check your phone?"
Patrick held his phone, recalling the job link Joshua had sent him last night. "Vera, there's an opening for the company's chief secretary. Are you interested?"
"I'm not interested," Vera rejected flatly and walked away.
Patrick chuckled, watching Vera leave, and then deleted Joshua's message.
Vera turned to ask Randall instead.
The next day, Teddy had no one to look after him, and Vera had exams coming up in two days. With five exams in three days, her study time was precious.
Patrick had social engagements today, so Teddy couldn't go to the office.
The house staff couldn't handle Teddy, so Brianna was called to Cherry Villa.
At Cherry Villa, Teddy played with his toys while Vera studied. Teddy played quietly with Brianna, occasionally looking up at Vera, who was at the window, memorizing her notes.
"The theory of dividend irrelevance assumes that the company's investment policy is fixed..." Vera stumbled, glanced at her book, and continued, "The theory of dividend irrelevance assumes..."
Teddy watched, fascinated.
Brianna advised, "You can't just memorize; you need to understand it."
Vera struggled, "Mom, how do I understand this? I can't even make sense of a long formula. If I can memorize it and write it down in the exam, that's good enough."
Vera continued studying by the window.
"If you can't, Patrick will help you tonight."
Vera replied, "I've already asked Patrick. He said the formulas are complex and told me to memorize the concepts first."
Brianna, holding Teddy, walked over to Vera. "Let me see if I can help."
At the Olteran Group, in the president's office, Patrick called Joshua. "Cancel the job link. Randall won't take it."
"You figured it out?"
Patrick confirmed, and Joshua said, "I did what you asked, but you owe me a couple of days with Teddy."
Patrick replied, "Maybe in a few years."
Joshua now understood how Ian felt every time Patrick outmaneuvered him.
After a while, Patrick explained, "Teddy is still young and can't be away from Vera and me. He'd cry if I sent him to you."
"No problem. I'll come to Zandonick. If he cries, I'll bring him back to you," Joshua said.
Having met the adorable Teddy, Joshua couldn't wait to visit Zandonick. Plus, who knew how long "a few years" would be? He might forget by then.
Scott found out. "Damn it, meeting Teddy behind my back. I'm coming too."
Owen added, "Shameless."
And he booked a flight to Zandonick as well.
The next morning, Patrick dropped Vera off at school. He looked around but didn't see any familiar cars.
"Teddy, give Mommy a kiss for good luck," Vera said, holding Teddy and offering her cheek.
Teddy refused.
Patrick then kissed Vera, prompting Teddy to rush over and kiss the same spot.
"On the cheek, not the lips. Your dad kissed my lips," Vera said, dodging Teddy's enthusiastic kisses.
Finally, with a face full of slobber, Vera got out of the car.
Patrick secured Teddy in his car seat. As Vera left, she reminded Patrick, "Susan doesn't have exams today. She has one tomorrow afternoon."
With that, Vera ran off with her student ID.
Patrick watched her go, smiling at the stylishly dressed Teddy.
Randall noticed the job link from CloudBridge Network Technology was down, feeling better than ever.
He called Susan, "Susan, let's go on a date."
Meanwhile, at the Olteran Group, Patrick's office had two distinguished visitors.
Handsome and impeccably dressed like Patrick, their presence added to the room's charm.
Teddy clung nervously to Patrick, eyeing his godfathers warily.
"Where are the other two?" Patrick asked.
Joshua replied, "Still on the plane."
By the afternoon, all four had arrived.
They made themselves at home, heading straight to Patrick's office without a word, and immediately scooped up Teddy, inhaling his baby scent. "Teddy, did you miss me?"
Teddy frowned at them.
Soon, he was passed to another set of arms. "Let me hold him too."
Teddy's frown deepened.
Ian commented, "He's already learning to frown like his dad."
Teddy looked to his father, seeing Patrick not coming to his rescue. He closed his eyes, opened his mouth, and started crying.
Teddy's heart-wrenching cries panicked his godfathers, but his dad just laughed.
Jack, delivering documents, remained unfazed.
Around five, Vera finished her exam and headed to the office.
She found four well-dressed men doting on Teddy.
Seeing Vera, Teddy cried again.
They quickly learned Teddy's main trait: crying.
Vera, with her book bag slung over one shoulder, picked up Teddy. "Patrick, I'll take Teddy home and have the kitchen prepare dinner. You guys finish up and come home early."
Patrick nodded. "I'll have Jack drive you."
Vera declined, "No need. I'll just grab a cab with Teddy."
She greeted the men, "You all keep working. Come home for dinner."
After Vera left, Patrick's desk was surrounded.
Joshua sat across from him, Owen and Scott perched on his desk, and Ian leaned on Patrick's chair. "Patrick, Vera seems different. She used to get into fights and cause trouble. Now she's so... domestic?"
Patrick remained stoic. "My Vera has always been domestic!"
