Chapter 750 Four Unlucky Guys
Joshua watched Vera walk away and turned to Patrick, "Mr. Olteran, don't you think that was a bit harsh?"
Patrick shrugged, "Being kind and being tough aren't mutually exclusive."
After changing clothes and coming downstairs, Teddy looked like a little dough ball again and was promptly handed over to Patrick.
Patrick, with his strong arms, could easily restrain Teddy's mischievous hands, something Vera could no longer manage with just one hand.
While the adults ate, Patrick held Teddy's hands, preventing him from moving. Teddy's eyes followed Patrick's fork, and he watched Patrick chew, his own little mouth watering.
At the table, everyone learned that Vera had an exam the next day. "We'll take care of Teddy for you," they offered.
Vera couldn't believe it. "Are you sure?"
"Absolutely, we came here to see our Teddy," Owen said.
Teddy turned his head to look at Owen, who had spoken.
Vera double-checked, "You really want to take care of Teddy?"
Joshua sensed something was off. "Is there a problem?"
Vera thought about how someone was willing to take on the challenge of looking after Teddy. It had been a while since she encountered such unlucky volunteers, and now there were four of them. She quickly waved her hand, "No, no problem."
Vera had been worried about who to leave Teddy with the next day, and now help had come knocking.
Vera didn't hold back, "Take him, keep him for as many days as you want. If it gets tough, ask Patrick for a salary."
Patrick looked down at Teddy, who had already found new caretakers for the next day, and smiled indulgently. "Go ahead, give your godfathers a hard time tomorrow."
Scott was unhappy. "How can you say that about Teddy? He's not a burden."
Vera immediately sided with Patrick's friends. "Exactly, how can you describe Teddy like that? He's adorable! Adorable kids don't cause trouble, do they?"
Vera's principle: never give these free babysitters a chance to back out.
Scott raised his glass. "Mrs. Olteran, a toast."
Vera picked up her drink and clinked glasses. "Come over anytime. Teddy's all yours."
Teddy, not understanding any of this, was completely confused.
Since Vera had an exam the next day and needed to study that night, the group didn't stay long after dinner at Patrick's house and soon left.
As they were leaving, each person hugged Teddy. "See you tomorrow."
After everyone had gone, Vera stood at the door and said to Patrick, "Patrick, let's prepare some gifts tonight to apologize tomorrow."
Patrick, holding the heavy Teddy with one arm and Vera with the other, headed back to the bedroom.
Early the next morning, as the family of three was having breakfast, the four men arrived.
These four wealthy men had squeezed into one car. The previous night, they had argued over who would get to spend time with Teddy first, and in the end, they decided to all go together in one car.
Vera looked at them, smiling. "Wait a moment, I'll pack a bag for you."
Patrick watched Vera and his friends joking around, feeling strangely happy.
The four men sat in their spots from the previous day, and soon the maid brought breakfast.
"No need, we've already eaten."
Teddy, sitting on his little stool, had just woken up and was groggily looking at his godfathers.
"Ian, hurry up and take a picture. Look how cute Teddy is right now," Scott urged.
Ian replied, "Hold on, I'm focusing."
"Send it to the group," Joshua, usually quiet, chimed in.
Owen added, "Make sure it's the original photo."
Soon, Vera came downstairs with a canvas bag. "Three clean outfits, three diapers. Since you're new at this, I packed ten packs of baby wipes. Also, formula, a thermos..."
Vera worried they might forget something and considered writing it all down.
Ian reassured her, "Don't worry, if we need help, we'll call Patrick. Worst case, we'll take Teddy to his office."
"Good idea," Vera gave Ian a thumbs up, then wiped Teddy's little mouth and handed him to Joshua. "Thanks, everyone. Have a great day. If you need anything, call Patrick. I'll be in my exam with my phone off."
"Don't worry, everything will be fine," Scott promised.
So, under Vera and Patrick's watchful eyes, Teddy was carried out of the house, still unaware of what was happening.
A moment later, Vera ran out to remind them, "I almost forgot, open the sunroof when you drive."
"Why?" they asked, puzzled.
Vera replied, "You'll thank me later."
With that, Teddy was placed in the car, and they drove off.
Before they even left Cherry Villa, Teddy started crying.
"Why is he crying so soon?" Ian wondered. "Scott, open the sunroof, quickly."
The sunroof opened, and Teddy looked up, stopped crying for a moment, then continued.
Vera was dropped off at school for her exam, and Shawn called Patrick. "When are you bringing Teddy over?"
"He's with someone else today, take a break."
Hearing this, Shawn felt as happy as a student being told they had a surprise day off.
In the morning, Vera was in the exam room, filling out answer sheets and solving problems.
Meanwhile, Teddy was at the mall, being carried around by four men.
Ian suggested, "Joshua, I noticed Teddy spills food on his clothes a lot. We should buy him some more outfits."
Owen added, "And more formula. Did you see how much he wastes? Let's buy a few dozen cans."
Joshua cautioned, "It'll expire, buy less."
Scott said, "You've held him long enough; it's my turn."
After handing over the child, Teddy was so fascinated by the bright lights of the mall that he forgot to cry.
Joshua suggested, "Let's buy some toys too. We don't visit often, so let's get him enough for the whole year."
"Good idea," Owen agreed.
So, early in the morning, four men took little Teddy to a baby store.
Randall, meanwhile, was at a job interview and received a few job offers via email.
He opened his laptop in the car and started working on the steering wheel.
Susan called, interrupting him. "Randall, where are you? I brought you some food, but I can't get into your room."
"Ask the front desk for a key card and wait for me inside. I'll be back soon."
Susan complained, "I'm at the front desk, but they won't give me a key. I told them I'm your girlfriend, but they still won't."
Randall chuckled, "Hand the phone to the front desk, I'll talk to them."
Hearing this, Susan felt triumphant and handed the phone to the receptionist. "Here, it's Randall."
