Chapter 724 Irrational Belief

Vera smiled and said, "Everyone's busy. Let me introduce you. This is Randall's girlfriend, Susan."

The slightly chubby owner looked at Susan with a warm smile. "Randall's girlfriend, right? He's got good taste!"

Susan blushed a little. "We just started dating," she said shyly, her voice a bit nervous.

"Where's your husband?" Vera asked casually.

The owner pointed to the kitchen. "One of our apprentices is sick, so he's back there helping out."

Vera nodded and smiled. "It's just the two of us today. No need to order, just make whatever you like."

"Alright, I'll whip up some beef pasta. Randall loves pasta. Susan, are you picky?"

Vera jumped in, "We're not picky. Just make whatever you want."

"Okay, I'll get started."

A little while later, the owner brought over two bottles of drinks and a couple of small dishes. "If you need anything else, just let me know."

Vera handed a fork to Susan. "Go ahead, the food here is really good."

Susan asked, "Vera, how did you find this place?"

Vera grinned, "You wouldn't believe it. This place opened when we were in high school. They were handing out flyers, and Molly wanted to try it. I did too, but Randall didn't want to eat with just us two girls. So, Molly and I tricked him into coming and even made him pay for the meal.

When we got here, we found the food was way better than what we had before. So, the three of us started coming here often, even when we were copying homework. We'd eat and copy at the same time."

Susan laughed, "Vera, you three are so lucky."

"Yeah, we are. Though Randall might not think so."

"No way, Randall must feel lucky to have you two," Susan said confidently.

Vera laughed. "He probably never imagined that the girl who copied his homework would become his aunt, and the other his girlfriend."

Soon, two plates of beef pasta were brought to the table.

Vera said, "Try it. Randall loves the pasta here. The sauce is a secret recipe."

Hearing that Randall liked it, Susan immediately took a bite, blowing on it a couple of times before eating. She didn't even need to think about the taste; just knowing Randall liked it made her think it was delicious.

Vera said, "I've always wanted to bring Patrick here to try it, but I'm afraid he'd scare the owner."

Susan laughed. "Are you worried about Patrick being too serious or his status?"

"Definitely his status. Patrick isn't serious when he's out." After saying that, Vera noticed Susan's expression turned a bit sad.

Susan thought about how Patrick was always serious with Randall. She twirled her pasta and asked Vera, "Vera, am I causing trouble for Randall again?"

"It's trouble, but it's good trouble. If you didn't speak up, Randall would keep everything bottled up. If he doesn't speak up, his family won't know what he's thinking. Randall should thank you. Without you, he wouldn't have the courage to face Patrick.

It's not about right or wrong. It's like when Teddy wants to eat spicy food. I won't let him because I know he'll cry from the heat. Patrick lets him because he wants to eat it. In the end, it's all for his good."

After comforting Patrick last night, Vera found herself consoling Susan today. She was quite busy.

Susan took a sip of the soup and suddenly stopped worrying about whether she was right or wrong. She had already made her decision. "If Randall chooses to work for the Olteran Group, I'll support him. If he chooses to leave, I'll support him too."

Vera smiled, "That's the spirit. So, don't worry. We'll back him no matter what."

After lunch, Vera finished school early and took a cab home.

As soon as she walked in, she heard Teddy crying without tears, sitting on Shawn's lap, staring at him.

Shawn said, "Teddy, are you made of water?"

Vera asked, "Teddy cried again?"

"You can't say 'again.' You should ask which round of crying this is." Shawn quickly tried to hand Teddy off. He was tired of taking care of the child.

The maid wanted to hold Teddy, but Shawn couldn't bear to let go.

Seeing Vera, Teddy got excited and fell into her arms, smiling at her.

Vera said to Shawn, "Dad, I'll take Teddy back to my place in a bit."

"Back to Cherry Villa?" Shawn looked at Teddy reluctantly. "Don't go." He didn't want Teddy to leave.

Vera had her reasons. She put Teddy on the couch and started packing.

Shawn ended up watching Teddy again. "Teddy, why did your dad and brother argue and make you leave?"

Teddy looked at Shawn and started laughing because he was happy to see him.

In a little while, Vera packed a bag of clothes, all for Teddy. "Vera, wait for Patrick to come back."

"I'm doing this to force him!"

Last night, Patrick refused to come home, so Vera had to use her own method. She took Teddy back to Cherry Villa, wanting to see if Patrick could handle being alone in the house and if he could stand sleeping in an empty bedroom.

Shawn knew Vera wanted to get the most serious person in the family to come out. He reluctantly sent Teddy to the car. "Teddy, come back often to see Grandpa. Grandpa will miss you."

Teddy leaned against the window, looking at Shawn, happily babbling and agreeing.

Vera sat in the car, holding Teddy's hand, teaching him to wave goodbye. "Say goodbye to Grandpa."

"Dad, you should go back." Vera held the chubby Teddy and closed the window, asking the driver to take them back to Cherry Villa.

Sure enough, when Patrick came home from work that evening, he looked stern.

There was no Teddy to greet him at the door.

In the living room, Shawn and Vincent's family were sitting. He was a bit surprised. Even if Teddy was asleep, they would usually be fighting to hold him. "Where are Vera and Teddy?" he asked as soon as he walked in.

Shawn replied, "Vera took Teddy back to Cherry Villa this afternoon."

Patrick was speechless.

This was the result of him not agreeing last night, and now Vera had left him alone!

At Cherry Villa.

The sky was darkening. Vera looked outside, holding Teddy and walking around the house. "Teddy, let's bet. Do you think your dad will come back?"

Vera held Teddy's little butt and said, "He'll definitely come back. Your dad can't live without us, right?"

Teddy looked at Vera and started babbling.

Soon, the familiar sound of a car parking came from the front yard. Vera smiled, holding Teddy.
