Chapter 761 Hidden Finesse in Roughness

It had been a while since they left.

Randall held Susan's hand as they walked away, glancing at the identical dolls. He asked, "Why do they look like twins?"

Susan was speechless.

Randall parked the car by the roadside and took Susan's hand for a walk. "Stop moping around with those two dolls. There's a toy store up ahead. Let's go in and get some friends for these twins."

Susan's eyes lit up. "Randall, are you really going to get them friends?"

Randall had never indulged her in such childish activities before. Something had changed after he went out today; it seemed like he had a revelation.

At the toy store, Susan wandered around. She had loved these fluffy toy stores since she was a child. It didn't take long for her to pick out two favorites.

When she turned to find Randall, he was holding a large, smoky gray bear.

At the checkout, Randall placed the big gray bear on the counter as well. Susan asked, "Randall, why are you buying that?"

Randall replied, "It's for my friend."

He then opened his phone to pay and handed the big gray bear to Susan. "Here you go, friend. Hold it tight."

Being called "friend" by Randall brought a sweet smile to Susan's face.

"Randall, how did you know I like big bears?"

Randall pretended to be aloof. "It's a secret."

"Randall, tell me."

Randall said, "If you listen to me, I'll tell you."

Susan nodded.

Randall continued, "When I picked you up from your dorm, your closet had a big white bear that looked just like you."

"Just like me in what way?" Susan wanted to hear more.

"Adorable and soft."

Susan excitedly ran over and hugged Randall's arm. "Randall, you remember that?"

Randall recalled Molly's advice: "Don't be too proud to show your love. If you care, say it. Keeping it to yourself will make her feel insecure. Don't listen to those guys who say showing too much love will make her leave you. Susan won't leave you."

Under the navy blue sky, on the bustling street, Randall said, "I remember more than that. Your water bottle has a bear cover; your pen cap is a flower bear; your winter pajamas have bear ears on the hood; your phone case has a big white bear on the back. When you go to accessory stores, even if you don't buy anything, you love to touch the bear keychains; your keychain is also a bear.

"In winter, when you pulled at the skin around your nails and it bled, you put on band-aids and drew bears on them. With all these signs, how could you wonder how I know you like bears? I could close my eyes and still know."

Susan hugged Randall, her eyes red with emotion for the first time. "Randall, how do you know all this?"

Randall heard the change in her voice and turned to see her crying. "Hold it in! No crying." Molly hadn't warned him that expressing his feelings would make Susan cry. If he had known, he might not have said anything.

Susan whimpered, "I can't hold it in."

Randall took the dolls from the claw machine and gently dabbed Susan's eyes with them. "I don't have tissues, so I'll use these."

Randall was attentive to her feelings, but Susan couldn't understand why he was sometimes so clueless.

Later, Susan realized that some guys, when they fall in love for the first time, really don't know what to do. It takes time for a girlfriend to teach them. Randall and she needed to grow together. Susan didn't want a boyfriend who had been trained by someone else. She was also a first-time girlfriend, and as long as they found a comfortable way to be together, it was enough.

As Susan spent more time with Randall, she noticed that some people love someone so much they're willing to give up a lot for them, but they don't know how to show it. Even when kissing, Randall would worry about having bad breath and would drink water first.

Randall wanted to be good to his girlfriend, but didn't know how. Though he sometimes teased her for fun, he was content just being with her, even if they did nothing.

Randall was meticulous about every detail but never spoke about it. He could quickly and accurately name her preferences. His low emotional intelligence and lack of romantic gestures made him, in her eyes, a symbol of responsibility and reliability.

Back in Randall's car, Susan moved to the back seat and placed the "twin" dolls and their new companions on the rear window ledge.

Randall glanced at Susan, busy in the back seat. "Susan, why are you putting them in my car? Aren't they yours?"

Susan replied, "I have the big gray bear. These four can stay back here so everyone knows you have a girlfriend."

Randall settled back into his seat, a loving smile on his face. "You always want to let everyone know Randall has a girlfriend. Why don't you hang a big bouquet in the front? People will think I'm married."

Susan said, "That won't work. You can't hang it every day. These four are more reliable."

Susan moved to the front passenger seat, hugging her big gray bear, overjoyed. "Randall, let's check if Uncle Patrick and Aunt Vera have boarded their flight."

Randall called Vera, but the automated message said, "The number you dialed is currently unavailable..."

Randall hung up. "Their phone is off. They must be on the plane."

Susan looked up at the dark blue sky. "I wonder if Teddy will cry on his first flight."

Not only did Susan have this concern; at the Olteran Manor dining table, the three of them shared the same worry. Vincent said, "I wonder how Teddy will handle his first flight."

Shawn added, "He'll be adorable, but crying is inevitable."

As expected, Teddy cried to prove them right.

On the plane, as it took off and Teddy felt the thrust, he squirmed in Vera's arms, unsettled by the unfamiliar sensation, and started crying.

Vera gently patted Teddy, having anticipated his tears. She took out a pacifier and put it in his mouth. "Sweetie, don't cry. Mommy and Daddy are right here. If you cry, you'll disturb others."

Teddy didn't understand and threw the pacifier on the floor, crying louder.

Vera held Teddy close to her chest, gently patting him. "Don't cry, sweetheart. Don't be scared. You'll fly with Daddy often. When you grow up, Daddy will teach you how to fly a plane, okay?"

Finally, Patrick took Teddy, holding him tightly to give him a sense of security, and kept patting his bottom. "Daddy's here with you."
