Chapter 773 Offending the God

Vera stepped outside. "Hey, Susan, come here."

Susan was holding Teddy and about to run off when Shawn intercepted her. "Susan, you guys go play. Leave Teddy with Grandpa." When Teddy wasn't crying, his cuteness made him the center of attention.

In the end, Teddy ended up back in Shawn's arms, engrossed in examining his hands and sucking on his fingers, indifferent to who was holding him.

Unable to win the tug-of-war, Susan went outside and saw Molly. Surprised, she exclaimed, "Aunt Molly, you're back too!"

Molly asked, "Where'd you go just now?"

Susan pulled up a chair and sat in front of them. "Randall went to work, so I went to look for an apartment for him."

"Didn't Randall say he'd take you home before work? Did he agree to let you stay here?" Vera inquired.

Susan poured herself a glass of water. "No, that's not it."

Everything had been going according to plan. Randall had taken a few days off to accompany Susan to various date spots and even went hiking with her.

At the mountain chapel, Susan prayed for a good relationship and for Randall to get into grad school.

Randall joked, "If I were God, I wouldn't grant you either wish."

Susan, still young and somewhat superstitious, playfully hit Randall in the yard. "This is a holy place. You can't say bad things here, or God will blame you."

Randall pointed to both sides. "Who should God blame? Your prayers are all wrong."

Susan scratched her head. "Randall, how do you know my prayers are wrong?"

"Your grandpa was superstitious. I used to pray with him when I was little. How could I not know?"

Susan quickly went to correct her prayers.

She even bought two wish plaques, writing blessings on them, and had the taller Randall hang them on the tree. "Randall, tie it tightly."

For the plaque about her and Randall's relationship, Randall silently tied several tight knots and hung it on a sturdy branch, securing it firmly.

Susan had several more wishes to make, but Randall, calling her greedy, pulled her away.

"Randall took you on a date, just hiking?" Molly asked.

Susan shook her head. "Not just that, he also took me to an amusement park."

"The water park?" Molly immediately asked, thinking of swimsuits.

Vera changed the subject. "No way. The men in the Olteran family are all emotionally clueless. If Randall went to a water park, he probably couldn't stand other men seeing Susan in a swimsuit."

Susan pouted and nodded gloomily. "Randall wouldn't let me wear a swimsuit outside, and he didn't let me go on any thrilling rides. I just watched the animations. He wouldn't even let me go to the haunted house."

Molly propped her head up. "Maybe Randall was scared and didn't want you to go either?"

Susan didn't know.

"Molly just told me you didn't want to come back at night and wanted to stay out with Randall. What's that about?" Vera speculated. "It can't be that a hike made you fall head over heels for him, and now you want to live together?"

Susan shook her head immediately. "No, it's Randall's roommate situation. It's terrible." Susan's upbringing prevented her from speaking ill of others.

"Renting a whole place in the city is crazy expensive, so Randall planned to share an apartment near his office. He found a place, but the current roommate is a woman. The landlord said her lease was up soon and she'd be moving out, and the next tenant would be a guy. Randall didn't think much of it and agreed."

Randall checked out the surroundings and lighting. After looking at so many places, this one seemed satisfactory, except for the current female tenant. Randall thought he'd move in once she left.

The landlord urged him to sign the lease quickly and pay a month's rent as a deposit, fearing Randall might back out.

Randall, wary of any changes, didn't sign the lease or pay the deposit, only leaving a $500 holding fee before leaving.

The female tenant came down to take out the trash and greeted Randall in the elevator. "Are you living alone?"

Randall didn't respond.

In the elevator, it was just the female landlord, the female tenant, and Randall. She had to be talking to him.

When Randall ignored her, she lightly touched his sleeve and said, "Hello?"

Randall turned, annoyed. "Do I know you?"

The woman awkwardly withdrew her hand. "The place is nice, and the landlord is great."

Randall nodded and left the elevator. His car was parked outside, and he called Susan to update her. "I checked out the place. There's a roommate who hasn't moved out yet. I'll move in once she leaves."

Susan, resting at home with sore calves from the hike, didn't accompany Randall to see the apartment.

When her legs felt better, she went with Randall to check out the place and saw the female tenant still hadn't packed. Randall waited a few days and asked the landlord, "When is she moving out? I can't move in until she does."

The landlord replied, "You're all around the same age. Living together means you can look out for each other and have common interests. What's the rush?"

Randall asked, "Is she not moving out?"

Sensing Randall might back out, the landlord quickly said, "I'll go urge her right now."

Susan told Vera and Molly, "When I saw the girl, I didn't want Randall to live there, but I was afraid he'd think I was being controlling and unreasonable. Randall took me to the amusement park, so I didn't bring it up.

A few days later, our hotel stay ended, and we were ready to clean the apartment, but she was still there, showing no signs of moving out.

And she was wearing a lace tank top and shorts." Susan gestured on her body. "Aunt Molly, you've seen those clothes. It's like, the front is lace, and the shorts are this short." Susan pointed to her chest and thighs, struggling to describe but clearly agitated.

Molly bluntly said, "That's lingerie."

Susan, frustrated, said, "She even went to Randall's room, asking if he needed help. The bathroom is shared. When I went to rinse the mop, I saw... those things." She blushed, abandoning the mop, and ran to pull Randall to the bathroom. Seeing the items, Randall immediately covered Susan's eyes, holding her close, and scanned the bathroom before leading her out.

Back in the bedroom, Randall didn't bother cleaning. He contacted the landlord, "If she doesn't move out in two days, I'm canceling the lease."

Whatever the landlord said, Randall didn't listen, hanging up in frustration.
